The excellent evening meal and breakfast made our stay. The quality was very good, very well presented and delicious.

Unsure which rooms accepted dogs whilst I don’t have an issue with people travelling with dogs we would prefer to know we could stay in a room that did not accept dogs. Happy in the bar etc but not in bedroom but understand the demand for this. Our room was very clean. Maybe some milk sachets in the room as fancied an early cup of tea but forgot to ask for the fresh milk prior to going to bed. Overall we were very happy.

Breakfast was fab on the 3 mornings of my stay . I had an evening meal at the hotel on my last evening and it was a delicious meal in a lovely setting (dining room) with very attentive staff. My room had all that I needed and when I wanted anything else the staff freely provided it , such as milk for my room.

I understand it is based on demand and my 3 night stay was made via booking.com and not with the hotel direct but I really was agitated that the price for the fri and sat of my 3 night stay for the same room was so much more than my first nights stay (Thursday). Surely a block booking of 3 nights should not be subject to such a hike in price because part of the stay is over a weekend. Is this normal practice for all hotels or is it down to booking.com? The hotel, staff and food were excellent , so I was very happy with my stay but the price difference annoyed me .

Stayed on a Tuesday when kitchen closed, but breakfast cooked freshly and excellent. Room was compact with enormous comfy bed and well set out bathroom. This is our sixth or seventh stay in the past decade, our favoured stop on long drives from the south west to Scotland. We have never been disappointed , even though it changed hands a few years ago. The welcome and attention to details remains first rate. Look forward to next visit when we hope to get dinner!

There is no parking, just unloading by hotel. The reception issue a free permit for local park, about 200 yards away.. no hardship!

We had breakfast on 3 days which was good and dinner one evening which was very good. Staff very welcoming. Good location. Room was very comfortable if small, it was the standard. In keeping with lots of old inns there are plenty of opportunities for the taller person to hit their head- taller than the average person from the period Car parking has been thought through as there is none on sight although there is one tight drop off space off the main street. Parking for the stay is in a public car park a short walk away for which the inn gives you a windscreen pass to display to be returned when you check out

This may be a budget thing but the quality of the natural yoghurt needs to be better, too thin and runny and also the bread. The far breakfast / dining room, where you are put if you don't have a dog, was cold.

The staff were especially of note - professional to a tee, friendly, helpful. Breakfast table service was great - what a lovely chap overseeing our experience. Room original features and complementary items were great, as was the amount of space in a more deluxe room. Location is utterly fantastic. No on-site parking but parking arrangements were excellent, easy to follow and implement to be able to park for free.

Not 'something we didn't like' per se. For the price charged, the room needed a little more: - maintenance, including some mildew and shower screen mould - easily controllable temperature regulation (it was really warm and some of the (beautiful, albeit) sash windows wouldn't stay open enough to air the room. - pillows problematic but not much option to swap them out offered in the room itself. Important to emphasise, we still score the Inn as superb and we would stay again, no hesitation.

We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. Both menus offered good selections. It was Boxing Day evening, so we had the choice of more festive options for dinner. The service was good, suitably attentive and the dining area was very cosy and did have a separate area where dog owners could dine. The wine list offered good choices. So a perfect way to spend an evening on route to Scotland. Will definitely reconsider staying again on our future journeys up.

It's not a case of didn't like, just a little bit more info about parking arrangements would help. We arrived in the dark and missed the signage and drop kerb ahead of the doorway and had to park on a one way street which got busy suddenly and proved inconvenient to other motorists. Plenty of parking options though in the town less than 5 minutes away.

Cosy, comfortable premises located in town centre. Nice bar and restaurant areas. Had nice breakfast with good choice and also delicious meal in evening. Pleasant, efficient staff. Arrived couple of hours before check in, but able to leave bags and they were kindly taken upstairs and deposited in room. Was also allocated a voucher for free parking in nearby public car parks.

Nothing really to complain about Is an older building so expected narrow stairs to climb and smaller door heights compared with modern standards. Enjoyed our stay.

We loved the welcome, the decor, the feeling of a really chilled and relaxing atmosphere in the whole establishment. Our small double room (number one) had all we needed for a great stay. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. We didn't dine at night, but breakfast was very tasty. The staff were efficient, as was our hostess. This is definitely the best pub/hotel we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in many over the years. Even though the room overlooked the street, it was very quiet. We found this place by accident and really glad we did. We will be back, that's for sure. Do not let this place pass you by it is a gem in wonderful surroundings.

There was nothing not to like it was perfect in our eyes.

Location is beautiful. Clean, comfortable room, tastefully decorated. Well equipped

Felt uncomfortable being accused of only booking for 1 adult when in fact I had booked for one adult and one child but the child booking did not appear on their system. I was then charged extra for another breakfast, despite my booking saying the child was free. I actually didn’t mind paying more, but staff could have been more friendly and made us feel more welcome. They were much nicer at breakfast

It was a beautiful old building, and the superior room had a view of the church and gardens. The pub served really tasty, food and had a great atmosphere It was nice and quiet, and yet in one of the busier towns The location was perfect. The staff were friendly and having fresh milk in the room is always a bonus You can’t park outside the location, but there are parking areas a short walk away and you are provided with a permit so there is no need to pay for any parking I would recommend this place and would stay here again it was quite fun being able to do a pub crawl too. The room was comfortable, although I struggled to get a good night sleep on the bed I’m not sure if that was me or the bed wasn’t quite right However, I honestly wouldn’t fault it There is no safe in the room and the door keys could be a little bit smaller for the pocket, but other than that a perfect day

there wasn’t a huge amount that I didn’t like really. Although there is no parking, they have a system that works and although the bed was uncomfortable for me, it was still a wonderful stay.
