A very warm welcome from Chris and Lynn and nothing was too much trouble for them. I arrived late when the kitchen was closed but they still offered me dinner. The room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable- I slept like a log! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed my pub dinner and the staff were attentive and friendly even though it was a very busy Saturday night. Very easy to get to off the M6 and plenty of parking in their car park.

All meals were exceptional. Breakfast was as much or as little as you wanted. It came hot on the plate. The evening meals were just as great. We especially loved the lamb henry, and the Whitby scampi. They also arrived hot on the plate and not luke warm like alot of places. The portions were generous, we never managed to fit a desert in.
It's location is on the A65 which on a morning is quite busy. We had the bedroom window open as it was quite warm and the noise from the cars was quite loud. We needed to close the window to keep the noise out. Which did work. There was a fan in the room if needed.

The rooms were above the pub and we were shown straight to them - they were very comfortable and had all the home comforts you'd expect. Staff were all really friendly and welcoming. Rooms were very clean, well decorated and the bed was super comfortable. Lots of (free) parking in the pub car park. There are 2 rooms in the pub - one was overlooking the road so it was fairly noisy as the road was quite busy. We had dinner in the pub which was great - the pub is obviously thriving and was really busy with locals eating and drinking. Food was home cooked and delicious - and good value too. Breakfast in the morning was down in the pub and again, excellent quality - it really set us up for the day.
The only small problem we had was the "kettle" in the room - it wasn't a traditional kettle and there were no instructions. It looked like a coffee machine and when we tried to make a drink, water went everywhere, so spent a good 10 minutes clearing up a soggy mess!

Friendly hosts who were helpful and chatty. Nothing was any bother if we had questions. Lovely breakfast selection. Loads of parking. A quiet nights sleep even though close to a main road. Easy access with car to all the attractions from here like the Lake Windermere and Hadrian's Wall.
Nothing.

Lovely family run pub with 2 rooms above. We arrived late Friday night and got a warm welcome as soon as we got there. we ate in the pub the 2 nights we were there and the meals were delicious, generous portions cooked to perfection. The room was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed and nice sheets. Loved the bottled water and nespresso machine in the room, the extra heater and fan there if needed. Everything you could think of was catered for. Breakfast was delicious with great continental and cooked options again everything you could think of was catered for and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent every member of staff was attentive friendly and polite noticing when drinks needed refilling etc. Lynn, Ray and Chris who run the pub are so lovely it felt more like staying with friends and they took it very well my partner went sleepwalking in the nude oops!! The pub itself is ideally located for exploring the lakes but itself is in a lovely spot, I saw a deer on the country road just next to the pub. Honestly I can’t praise this place highly enough and we cannot wait to return.

The staff were excellent, very nice and flexible. We had to leave very early and they prepared meal bags for us and I liked that they were also ecofriendly (reduced plastic used). We also liked the bed, one of the most comfortable we ever slept in while away from home. The room was also quite spacious. The communication was also great, we were notified ahead about the food serving time. Thank you for your warm hospitality.
We were satisfied with everything, thank you.

The hosts of this pub hotel were welcoming and helpful assisted by a team of smiling & obliging staff. Well appointed bedroom with comfy bed & pillows & top class shower. Food in the restaurant was mainly English cuisine, cooked deliciously with locally sourced products, generous helpings priced fairly. The bar is well stocked & the real ales were first class.

This home away from home was my hub for a series of photo expeditions into the Lake District. It is a beautifully situated family-run pub with two comfortable guest rooms upstairs (great bedding!) located a walkable couple miles outside of the town of Kendal. The warm atmosphere, friendly staff & local clientele, and great food & drink made the pub itself a delightful common space to hang out in when not sleeping or exploring the area. When I saw this listing on Booking.com, I sensed this would be a uniquely memorable lodging experience. In fact it was everything I had hoped for... and more, including a short but rewarding hike up a lovely viewpoint called "The Helm" (see attached photo) that starts right across the street. I'd recommend it heartily to anyone visiting the Lake District!
