The convenient location to Victoria station and the tasteful decor. A one night stay type of hotel rather than long stay. We were able to leave our luggage in a ground floor luggage room and the reception desk was always attended even late at night. The shower was good.

Our room was on the third floor with no lift, The room was very small and it had an uneven floor. The bedside table needed a wedge under the front of it so your glass didn’t slide off.

The Portico is an independent hidden gem among a rabbit warren of big names and chains. We stayed here for a week. It’s a beautiful little hotel in Westminster. Only 5 minutes away from Victoria underground station meaning everything was only a short trip away. The staff on the front desk were friendly and super lovely. The reception desk has a small selection of drinks that you can have in the communal seating area or take to your room. The drinks are amazingly priced. We bought water before we left each day as it was more than half the price of any of the tourist traps. My partner and I aren’t breakfast people so can’t comment on that. The rooms aren’t massive, but nowhere near as small as the reviews like to make it sound. The bed was supremely comfortable, I didn’t want to get out of bed each day. The rainfall showers are a wonderful touch too. Especially in the 30 degree plus heat we had in our stay, the cold water pouring down in a cooling shower. You’re allowed to come and go as you please, this was a great touch for a couple exploring London and often getting delayed by the next activity and miles and miles of walking/cycling. The staff always welcome you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. It was a wonderful stay and we will be booking again. We also hope for the same room as we loved it that much. Thank you to everyone at the Portico.

The air conditioning was great since we were there during a heat wave and the beds were super comfortable. The location was close enough to walk to some tourist sites and there were a few good pubs near by for food. The luggage storage was nice as my friends and I arrived a couple hours early before check-in.

The room as advertised on booking.com as a king size bed with a twin but upon arrival were told that it was a double bed. So one of our friends had to get a separate room. One of the two shower heads didn't work, the shower was still great.

Room decor was lovely (gold and green) and the location couldn't be beat - only a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station and only a 25 minute walk out to Westminster. Room was a decent size for 3 and all the facilities worked well (shower, big flatscreen TV, etc). We were lucky enough to have a view of the London Eye from our window :) We arrived back from a concert around midnight and had no issues accessing the property and the 24 hour reception service was much appreciated as we were very thirsty from the hot weather so being able to get some cold cans of juice to take up to the room was great.

Only things we weren't keen on was the sliding bathroom door with large gap at the bottom which left little privacy for anyone using the toilet but understand that the size of the room makes a proper hinged door impractical. Walls between rooms were also thin so we heard a lot of noise from the room next door at around 8am while our youngest was still trying to snooze. But despite these small things, would still definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Great location - walking distance to Victoria Station and theatres, comfortable and clean.

I was travelling with my elderly mother and we were on the third level - there was no elevator, so it was difficult to navigate the stairs. Staff were not friendly or helpful.

Location, Victoria Station 10 minutes walk away. Pimlico Station same distance in other direction. Neighbourhood quiet and attractive with pubs, restaurants and grocery short walk away. Very comfortable beds, best ones we slept in after a couple weeks travelling. Pillows soft. Bathroom spotless. Great shower. Soaps shampoos supplied. Tea+coffee+ kettle supplied in room. Appears to have been recently renovated. Continental breakfast was decent. 24 hour front desk. Quiet, didn't hear other patrons. We had the "triple" (1 double and 1 single bed) and the double bed was big enough to sleep two adult average sized people. Grocery, pubs and restaurants close by. Staff helpful booking our car to airport. Our room was on lower level so stairs not an issue. Price was right. I would book here again.

WIFI not great in room, fine in lobby area. Room space tight for 3 people. Being on lower level window view was of hotel mechanicals but not a big deal for us.

The room is very modern , comfy feel and enough space to get around. The property is in a good location, the train station and coach station is in short distance there’s local shops and restaurants you can get to.

Weren’t able to contact reception using the room phone , had to use mobile phone. Had to wait a very long time to get an iron that didn’t work , but reception were helpful enough to make sure I had one by the morning. There isn’t a lift in the facilities , my room was on the top floor and there was no assistance to take it up.

Really comfy beds, nice clean bathrooms. Great TV with option to connect Netflix. Air con in rooms which is great. Also a tea/coffee station offering a nice selection. My room was close to the top floor so I ended up having a nice view which overlooked rooftops and showed the shard and the London Eye. I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends!

I was at the top floor and there is NO ELEVATOR HERE so had to drag my suitcase up 4-5 flights of stairs. Would only recommend to those fit enough to walk up all the steps. Otherwise I’d recommend asking for a lower floor or Ground floor room.

Recently renovated and super clean -- kind staff -- fabulous location -- comfortable beds and pillows with nice linens -- good WiFi -- great shower with rainfall and sprayer with solid water pressure -- small but nice lobby -- artful, hip decor. NOTE: The ownership is the same as the former Hanover Hotel, so the ownership was not allowed to start over withe the newly renovated property; old reviews are for the Hanover, so ignore those. We definitely look forward to staying at the Portico again!

There is no elevator, so if stairs are a problem, seek other accommodations (I believe it's only four floors, however). There is not restaurant (although they have a breakfast room), but you're in Central London, so NBD! (They do have a bar at the front desk and will give you ice!). The only thing I can think of that we missed is a mini-fridge in the room.

The staff was super friendly! The lady at the front desk was very accommodating and assisted us with everything! She went above and beyond! 5 stars for her! The room was spacious and the air conditioning was extra cold! It was perfect! The shower had good water pressure, nice fresh water, and was a pleasure to use. Location was great, close to public transport, easy to get an Uber from as well. There is also a bar at the lobby, very convenient for a quick drink or night cap! The beds were SOOOO COMFORTABLE! My wife and I loved them! The covers and sheets were extremely nice too! A++++ I would recommend this place!

Nothing! Everything was great!
