Ibis Styles Portland Street is ideally situated for visitors arriving by train - it's just a short walk from Piccadilly Station. Efficient and efficient check-in on arrival in a quirky Reception area - the rainy city theme continued to the bedroom allocated. Room was compact but very comfortable. The décor developed the rainy city theme and the blue umbrella shaped bracket was very impressive indeed - as was the wall covering with the famous 'Rain rain go away...' lyrics. Breakfast offered a good choice of hot and cold items in a very relaxing setting. Loved the choice of cheese from the continental options. Staff were courteous and helpful each morning. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to tourists and business people - great location with easy access to Manchester city centre,

The decor is quirky AF, which I loved! Bed was comfy, and it was an actual double (some places try to pass off two single beds zipped together as a double and that's not on, but not the case here thankfully!) which is great. Staff were friendly, breakfast was nice, a great choice.
Didn't like that there was only scrambled eggs as egg option for breakfast. But this is the only issue I can think of! And it's not even a major one. Oh wait, shelving of some kind would be helpful, for clothing. I was in for 2 nights and had to keep most of my stuff in my case. Again not the worst thing, but a wee shelf or two would be nice

I came for a concert in June, and booked again for another concert for September. The hotel room in June was alot bigger, sofa and space to get ready. However I paid more in June, and breakfast wasn't included. Yesterday's hotel room was smaller, but usable, clean, no issues. Breakfast was included this time, and it was lovely. Really enjoyed our stay. Staff friendly. We arrived at 12pm and asked for early check in and got it no problem. June hotel room was 3rd floor, September hotel room 5th floor. Photos are of the hotel room in June and then September. Both Queen rooms.
Not enough pillows in the room. And not enough sugar and teas provided. The mirror was not near the table to be able to see yourself to get ready this time. And no plug sockets near the mirror either when trying to straighten my hair.

Beds are so comfortable! Rooms are well equipped with iron/ironing board and space for hanging clothes which is nice! The staff are always happy to come in and change bedding/clean the room which is also really nice to come back to after being out all day
Restaurant wasn’t great and quite pricey for very basic food. The rooms were also a lot smaller than expected, the rooms I’ve stayed in in ibis budget just down the road was a lot bigger just not as brightly decorated which I wouldn’t say warrants the higher price or “style” aspect of the hotel

Great location. Excellent staff on reception who couldn't do enough for you. Gentleman working in restaurant at breakfast time was quick, friendly and efficient. Huge choice of food and drinks available, all buffet style. Loved it. The twin room for my daughter and I was excellent. Handy to have ironing board and iron in room. Also nice to have small writing desk which my daughter sat and wrote at. There were nice quality fair trade coffee sachets in the room too! Was a lovely, quiet night in comfy beds. The lady who had cleaned our room on arrival was bubbly, happy with a beautiful smile. In fact all except one staff member was upbeat and seemed genuinely happy although she seemed a little stressed at the time when I asked her a simple question for unknown reason, which I understand, and a minor detail.
There only seemed to be one lift in action throughout our stay, but once in the working lift with other guests from top floor we would try guess which floor someone would stop us at on the decent! All good natured. Also, I would have liked a plug point beside the large bedroom mirror when using hair straighteners - manageable if you have a long lead though! Wonderful hotel. Thank you 😊💯

The hotel is lovely, drinks from their fridge in reception are very over priced but there is a Tesco, spar, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl all in walking distance. If I was to visit Piccadilly again I'd stay at this hotel
Piccadilly gardens on an evening made me and my daughter feel quite on edge. A place you hold your bag close. Lots of groups, we tried to sit on a bench and they moved so they were surrounding us. Nothing to do with the hotel though. Oh and plenty of homeless so be prepared to be begged at every 3 minutes, if you say you don't have cash, they ask for a cig, if you don't have that they ask for drinks, till you cave in and buy them something!

The room was clean and quiet, as requested. I had been assigned a room at the rear of the hotel, which I appreciated. The room itself was quite small and the desk was a moveable on on wheels. I think it was fine for a single night and I got a good night;s sleep. The breakfast was included and the range was fairly good but not very imaginative.
The room had a drains smell in the morning and it was quite off-putting to use although once products were in the drain from my morning routine it smelled better. The breakfast sausage and bacon seemed cheap and not as well cooked as I would have liked.

Would thoroughly recommend the hotel for a break. Rooms were spotless, housekeeping was first class, plus any requests were met without any problems. Breakfasts were tasty, with a wide choice of either cooked or continental. The staff were friendly and efficient, with a special shout to Kayleigh who was lovely and extremely helpful. Location was top notch with both Manchester piccadilly train station and Piccadilly bus station within easy walking distance. If we return to Manchester in the future will certainly use it again, and would highly recommend it.

Great location, close to the train stations with Piccadilly gardens right on your doorstep and Canal street and China town a couple of minutes walk away. Staff are really helpful and friendly, and the rooms are a good size. The WiFi is fast, and the shower has amazing water pressure. The bed has sockets on both sides with USB ports built in. Everything was spotlessly clean. The room comes with extra pillows, and the mattress is pretty comfy.
The bathroom floods everytime you take a shower, as the glass divider doesn't go back far enough and the shower tray is not very deep. They give you extra towels to put down on the floor near the shower, but these get soaked and don't do much to help with the floor being slippery due to the flooding. The toilet paper is also the cheap really thin and narrow single ply stuff. I feel like for the price they want a night they could spring the extra 10p a roll for double ply toilet paper. The pillows are a bit hard, and kind of tall which can be a little awkward. None of these issues are that serious though and this is still a good place to stay.
