From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome, especially by Mohammad and Laura. All staff work really hard and muck in where needed to keep a smooth running ship. Rooms are spacious and clean and warm. Beds really comfy. Bar prices reasonable for a hotel. Breakfast very very good. Poached eggs cooked to perfection, and the sausages were good meaty proper local sausages... Always tell a good breakfast by the sausages! Decent sized TV in bedroom and fridge. We will certainly be returning when next in Newbury. Thank you to everyone that made our stay such a lovely one.

Lighting by shaving mirror would be good

The room was really nice, the bathroom was lovely and the bed and pillows were super comfortable!

Our room was by a fan unit for the kitchen I think so there was a bit of noise but not awful and not enough to stop us sleeping. We were given the option of a full English breakfast in the morning but no information on what was in it or the opportunity to remove certain items so I felt bad about wasting food as there were items included I don't like and would have removed if I had the chance.

The breakfast was lovely and no trouble when asking for dairy free alternatives. Also loved the superior double we were upgraded to free of charge. Nothing was too much trouble. Evening meal was also very nice and had room service.

The only thing I would say is the twin standard we were put in for the first night was clean but very tired looking, could do with updating - also the springs in the beds had gone and were very uncomfortable, hence why we asked for an upgrade and it was sorted quickly and efficiently.

Good Location

The fact they gave our rooms away to someone else. I had pre-arranged specificity with the hotel rooms to accommodate my elderly father which they had given away. It wasted a lot of time and left a sour note to our stay. Also there was a lot of confusion around whether breakfast was included or not. Not great for a 90 year old to be wandering around the hotel looking for breakfast that was included to be told it wasn’t!

Loved the cooked breakfast and that it was gluten-free. Such a relief to be able to eat nice food. The shower was great but couldn't turn the water temperature down any further.

Toilet leaked. Couldn't get the heating/air con to work. Only view from the window was a brick wall with patchy, peeling paint. As the hotel was very quiet, we could have been placed in a nicer room.

The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast food choices and quality was good. The bed was nice and large, with lots of socket outlets in the room and even built in USB charging ports.

The Android TV was a little small at 32 Inches, could do with at least a 40 inch full HD smart TV. The TV was not connected to the internet so streaming \ online channels could not watched. The bathroom lighting was a little weak, and the shower door was leaky in that particular room. To be fair none of these aspects mentioned was a real issue.

Clean and cosy. Lovely evening meal and not too expensive. Breakfast standard buffet style. Only scrambled eggs available. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Laura on front desk was superb, she offered help when needed and showed genuine interest in the family event occurring. All round fantastic stay.

Would have liked a better quality coffee in the room for when you wake.

The hotel was clean, and comfortable. Free parking outside the front door is a huge bonus. The food was excellent. The TV in my room had no remote control. I informed reception and they were unable to replace it despite extensive searches and multiple attempts with remotes from other rooms, so they moved me to another room which was a slight upgrade. The bed was comfortable. The location was excellent for my stay for the Thatcham research centre.

See the above, the TV remote issue was a bit of an issue, and moving rooms after I unpacked wasnt ideal, but no real issue. The bar was closed for my stay as the place was being deep cleaned, but the local shops had sufficient supplies!

Room was lovely, we did have a problem with the tap in our room, but luckily we had bottled water to clean our teeth and was hands

The normal buffet breakfast had been stopped as the room had been prepared for a Christmas party. We gave our order to the waitress, however She then sat down opposite us and I must say I felt a little uneasy about that.

clean, quiet, great location for our requirements. nice breakfast, staff that were there were nice. if anything they were perhaps a little understaffed but there were not many people staying so that could be just sensible economics.

the only thing was, the tv in our room had a life of its own. it was on when we arrived, it was on again when we came back to the room later, then came on unexpectedly at about 6 in the morning when we were sleeping. it wasn’t a big deal, having known it was on twice before, I kept the remote on the bedside cabinet but I am great at going back to sleep!
