The room had been redone fairly recently. It was gorgeous and comfortable. Nice walk in shower instead of a super high bath tub! And a heated towel rail besides.

Nespresso machine didn’t work. I reported it for four days before somebody on the desk passed the complaint on to the fixit man. My first day I blew myself to a “Sunday roast” in the dining room. The meat was so tough even with the “steak knife” that I had to work up a sweat to cut it. The Yorkshire pudding was cold and dry. The wine was excellent. The meal cost 42 pounds / 50 dollars. Not worth it. Many of the staff treated me as if I were an “intruder.” I don’t expect staff to be obsequious, but I don’t like semi sullen either.

Great sized room. We travelled with our toddler so the additional lounge space worked really well.

One day our room wasn't cleaned despite at 3pm me asking the front desk and being assured it would be (again if you have a toddler you do need bins emptying etc). The restaurant only had one high chair which I think for a room of its size and as a hotel that advertises itself as family friendly wasn't ideal. We stayed 3 nights and only on one morning at breakfast we were asked if we wanted coffee or tea. I got the real sense the staff couldn't cope with a busy hotel and/or restaurant. Also it would be a classier touch to include fresh milk in the fridges for making coffee and tea in the room.

Location was great, our limited interaction with the staff was pleasant, they were very friendly, especially the porter Billy. The room was clean, well furnished and very comfortable.

The walls were pretty thin, and I think the room next to ours were having a virtual work meeting and it woke us up at 3 am. I also could not control the air-conditioner temperature so it was either too cold or or too hot when I had to switch it off. But that only happened on the last day, not sure why.

Location was fantastic. Across the street from the Ashmolean Museum and around the block from the New Oxford Theatre. Sainsbury and Tesco are around the corner. There are lots of restaurants and cafes close by. Room decor was ornate Victorian-ish with clever little touches. The bathroom was beautiful and the shower was great. The windows in bathroom and bedroom opened! The public spaces were gorgeous and very comfortable.

Checkin was frustrating. Reception left us waiting, standing for 15 minutes without acknowledgment because they were helping someone with something other than checkin. It would have been nice if they had acknowledged us and invited us to take a seat until they were ready to help us.

The room was gorgeous. The cleaning staff were wonderful and amazing. The staff at the restaurant and at the bar are amazing. Menu overpriced though.

Reception staff are too inexperienced. Very difficult to get accurate information. Also, there is a weird character with a Mercedes who is always stationed at the entrance, brought in as a Taxi for the guests and a total rip off! There was a deal somewhere and it was uncomfortable. Also, I had to pay in cash at the restaurant and they kept the balance because the lady at the till at the restaurant said that "they do not carry change". Well, the reception always had change.

Buffet breakfast covered most peoples wants and needs. The choices we very good. We stayed in two separate single rooms which being different both provided for our requirements. The Randolph is as central in Oxford as can be found and most places of interest (colleges, museums, pubs etc.) are all in short flat walking distance. For further out a very good bus service.

A couple of times messages passed into reception were not passed to next shift or housekeeper. However, they were remedied on re-visit. Otherwise a trouble free weeks visit.

Excellent communication from Cindy on reception followed by a lovely warm greeting on arrival and a lovely suprise of chocolates & a bottle of Prosecco waiting in the room for my mother’s birthday. Very thoughtful & much appreciated x

After checkout when we later collected our bags from the concierge the young man took our ticket but carried on folding some items for before eventually fetching our bags and passing them to us without even saying a word. Alternatively the previous gentleman who had checked our bags in couldn’t have been more warm & polite.

Breakfast: fantastic. Room: outstanding. Location: superb. Ambience and grandeur: fabulous. We made use of the piano lounge which was beautiful and had a super pianist.

Disappointed that, on arriving early and expecting to just dump bags and wander into Oxford, we were 'seduced' by the front desk to hang around with our room being 'Prioritised' with housekeeping so we could enter early. In the end the room was only ready AFTER the guaranteed 3pm check-in. Spa facilities are tiny and subject to an additional fee (as mentioned in the Booking website). Don't choose this hotel for its spa, but rather foe everything else it does offer (see 'what did you like' above). Oxford doesn't have any central traditional spa/pool hotels, not even the Marriott.

the staff were very helpful and attentive . the Alice restaurant initially looked 'different' with the pink seating , the food and service was excellent , over all an good experience.

in the past this hotel was a legend as a luxury hotel to stay at ,the update has lost the old gentleman's club image and is more like a posh Disney hotel . dislikes : not being able to get a seat in the Morse bar two eves in a row , eventually got a place in this very popular bar , BIG minus is that the only beers available were lagers , real shame there was no tap bitter available. and the whiskeys were massively overpriced .

Whilst the hotel is meticulously maintained it appears that any changes and updates to fixtures and fittings have been carried out with great sympathy to the original building. The hotel is magnificent in many ways but I believe it’s greatest asset is it’s staff. EVERY staff member we encountered were always extremely professional yet warm and welcoming at the same time too. Whilst a level of professionalism can indeed be taught there is no amount of tutelage that can teach somebody who isn’t naturally friendly and kind to be so. Clearly the management team are very talented in both their selection of staff and the delivery of training as ALL staff members we met were wonderful.

Can’t really think of anything - the hotel was everything it promised to be and more.
