Freshly cooked breakfast was excellent. Quirky layout in room meant granddaughter aged 9 years had her own bedroom area, up two stairs, slightly partitioned from the adults and her own tv which she loved. Salutation pub was cozy on a rainy night, we didn’t have to go out the building to go to room.

No coat hooks on back of bedroom door for wet coats to hang. Wardrobes have hanging space but no drawers for sweaters etc. En suite is a squeeze, very little space to put toilet bags and hang damp towels for three people. Also have to sit sideways on the toilet due to wash basin overhanging toilet. Minor issues, en suite quite irritating, didn’t spoil our stay, but first two could be solved easily.

Staff friendly, food delicious, very dog friendly, comfortable super kingsize bed and a lovely quiet area. Tea and coffee facilities with biscuits. Treats for your dog and also eating and drinking bowls. Clean white bedding, TV, and toiletries in the bathroom. Lovely view of the mountains.

The ensuite bathroom in the room (rm 2 in salutation inn) it's a bit snug to the point you could literally wash your hands while sitting on the toilet, not much room at all. 🤦‍♀️ you need to leave the door open to wash and if you're a bigger built person you would definitely struggle using the bathroom.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and the menu choices were varied and updated daily with specials. Room was comfortable and very quiet. Location was great, so close to Keswick and plenty of walks in the area. The Inn is very atmospheric and is like stepping back in time. We met the Directors when being seated for dinner. They took time to talk to us and this personal touch has left a lasting impression. Thank you. We would have no hesitation in recommending The Horse and Farrier Inn and would hope to return again in the future.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food is very well cooked and decent portions. You may have a wait if there's a few in. The accommodation was very clean and had everything you need. We had to leave earlier than planned and the staff were very understanding and even offered my wife a packed lunch for the journey home! We'll hopefully get chance to stay there again.

The only tiny thing that happened was we was forgotten at breakfast but this was seen to with apologies and all was well.

Very cosy welcoming hotel. Beautiful room. We booked a superior room, and we were given Blencathra suite. It was SO nice. Beautiful furnishings and a lovely bathroom with a bath and shower, with toiletries provided. There were 2 tv's. We ate our dinner in the bar by a log fire and it was so good. The breakfast had lovely fresh ingredients and was very tasty too. I would have appreciated black pudding and beans too. We can't wait to go back. So quaint, so near the motorway on our journey home. The staff were amazing and special mention to Keith, who kept us entertained.

The pillows, quilt, and mattress could do with upgrading, although we slept well.

The pub is absolutely beautiful. The staff were all very friendly, particularly the manager who was extremely welcoming and clearly is very proud of the property. He was great with my toddler who was very overexcited after being stuck in the car all day, and he was happy to help us out with a small main meal for her instead of using the child’s menu. The room was very clean and comfortable

It would have been handy to have some toiletries like shampoo and shower gel in the room

We stayed at the Salutation Inn (Sally Inn). The rooms are comfortable and spacious and nicely decorated. The view from the room was also stunning. The staff at the Sally are friendly and so where the locals. We ate both nights at the Sally and both nights we weren't disappointed! Particularly the second night, my wife had the lamb and I had the steak. Incredible, restraunt quality! Location wise, its perfect, only 8 min drive to Keswick, 40 mins to Windermere and Hawkshead plus well placed to climb blencathra.

There's not much to say here. The only minor thing is the size of the bathroom in our room, but given that's it's an old building, there isn't much they can really do about that.

Everything about our stay the most welcoming place. All the staff are so friendly. They really go out of their way. Very clean rooms. Lovely comfy bed, which was bigger than a double bed Everything we ate from breakfast lunch dinner was exceptional. The pub itself was perfect so cosy and warm. We'll worth the money spent. Scenery was beautiful around us even though it was raining and cloudy. We have booked again for April.

Everything was perfect

On arrival we were greeted by Keith. An absolute pleasure what a fabulous gentleman. We had lunch while the room was sorted. Keith showed us to our room. Which was absolutely beautiful. Lovely views of the hills. Comfy bed , lovely bonus of separate shower and bath . Evening meal was outstanding.

The breakfast was such a let down. Probably due to young inexperienced staff. We got a plate of warm bread mainly white bread.never got asked if we would like white or brown toast. Asked the young lad to toast the bread came back as if it been put in microwave 🤣 Coffee lukewarm. We choose here for or final night which was our anniversary. Sad end to an amazing night.

Country pub with a nice atmosphere. We stayed in the suite and it was worth paying a bit extra for, very big comfortable bed , nice deep bath and plenty of space. Served excellent food and very friendly staff especially Keith who made everyone feel comfortable and at home
