Friendly staff and good location.

This has nothing to do with the staff but more about hotel policy. Many of the hotels we have stayed in this trip are so called "pet friendly". We don't like sharing a breakfast room with a dog, nor do we like the smell of dog when you come out of your room or hear a dog bark. Hotels seem to have turned into a boarding house so people don't have to pay to have their pets looked after when they go on holiday and other travellers have to accept it. Some might say we should stay elsewhere, and to that point, we will be looking for hotels that are people friendly, not pet friendly. Dog owners, don't assume everyone loves your dog. Some people are frightened of or allergic to dogs.

The hotel was close to the university building of my conference. Apart from the conference, there were several good restaurants within walking distance, and it was a five minute walk to the Guildhall Square and Central library, also some pubs and theaters nearby. A ten minute walk to a park and the City Museum also, though it was a bit longer (25 minutes) walk to the Dockyard, it was through a pleasant residential neighborhood. The hotel public space was very nice and, though my room and bathroom were tiny, I liked the porthole window in the bathroom--a practical and charming touch.

The room and bathroom were tiny, but I got used to it. No real air conditioning but I used the table fan when it was warm later in the day and it was fine.

Staff were all very pleasant and everything seemed to run smoothly. Breakfast was particularly good as a full buffet with plenty of choices both cooked and continental. The restaurant and bar area was spacious and a relaxing environment.

The bathroom unfortunately was the only significant negative to the entire stay. We had seen reviews they were small but the bathroom appeared to literally be an afterthought squeezed in and did initially make the room seem small and the odd shape didn't help with this. The bathroom was serviceable with a really good powerful shower but it wasn't particularly comfortable.

The room was incredibly quiet. A great nights sleep and hard to believe it is located in the middle of a city when you go to bed! I loved the ironing room on the 2nd floor what a wonderful touch. Great proximity to Portsmouth & Southsea Railway Station. The central location was good. A few minutes walk to the Guildhall for The Portsmouth Remembrance Sunday Service and restaurants. The staff were very good and helpful throughout my stay I ordered a taxi to go to my workplace for the Monday morning and it arrived punctually by 07:00hrs as scheduled.

I thought the shower cubicle was very small, the floor space in the room could have been bigger.

The staff are always brilliant , friendly and helpful... the location is perfect for what we want so we always use this place ... we feel that it is always great value for money and will continue to use this hotel as 1st choice

On this occasion having a twin room ment it was a little tight for space... we usually have a double and a single room but on this occasion with only 2 travellers it was a more sensible option.... the shower pressure was a little weak but no big deal... with great staff and good location with good prices it's brilliant value

As a wheelchair user I was overwhelmed by the high standards of space in the wet room and bedroom and how accessible everything was. even the lift was easy to get in and out of. I had plenty of space to transfer into bed and on to the shower bench and toilet. This is something hard to find in a hotel and this one I couldn't fault. The staff were helpful nothing was too much like helping me get my breakfast at the buffet. I had the full english would highly recommend even sent a message thanking the chef. They were even kind enough to book a taxi for me when I was leaving. I was made to feel very welcome and any assistance I needed they were happy to give.

I cant find anything I didnt like. I struggled to find it but there are building works and uneven pavements from the train station to the hotel so it was difficult a kind man helped me get there. But the hotel itself I cant think of anything wrong with it.

Location was good.

No air con, uncomfortably hard bed. Their new sleep system is a mattress topper. Premier inn beds much more comfortable. Room was very small, but okay for our needs. No storage space, but 5 or 6 hangers on a rail. A large person might struggle to have enough room to sit on the toilet, which was shoehorned into a corner next to the wash basin. Noise from group of 5 to 6 staff who stood outside from early evening chatting loudly all 4 nights of our stay. Had to shut windows to get some sleep. We were 3rd floor overlooking main car park. No air-conditioning so uncomfortably hot in room with windows shut.

We loved the location, the staff (especially bar staff - Jono who was really friendly and attentive) and the breakfast was very good (fried or poached eggs would be superb) and coffee is great. Linen is nice and fresh. Plenty of coffee, tea and sugar. Kettle is not scaled... it is clean. Lighting in restaurant and foyer is calming.

Pillows are not comfy, size of ensuite is too small for comfort (toilet leg room for 6ft man) and the foyer sofas were a bit grimy/dirty marks here and there (need steam cleanng). Booking.com sent me an email to remind me about my forthcoming trip... they said that breakfast was £12 when in fact it was more. Staff didn't honour the email confirmation of this price but said simply that they'd inform manager to inform Booking.com. Drain smell in corridors on 4th floor.

Loved this ibis hotel,it had great facilities, bar/ coffee shop, breakfast/ dining the food was wonderful, the staff were excellent friendly and helpful, and the location of the hotel couldn't have been better just a 10 minute walk to sea front and shops, the cleaning staff did a great job room had clean towels daily and coffee, tea and milk replenish daily, and the chef made sure I got my vegan sausages every morning to complete the wonderful breakfasts we had.

Even though the rooms were lovely they were very snug and the toilet didn't have much room round it in the bathroom, this is the only reason I've given a 9 and not 10 ,but everything was so clean .

Excellent location. We travelled down and stayed the night before catching the ferry to the Isle of Wight the next morning. The ferry terminal was about 5 minutes away and so easy to get to. The hotel was also handy for places to eat; we found an excellent restaurant just round the corner. We might have eaten in the hotel itself but the restaurant was booked out to a large party, which was not a problem. We had a couple of drinks in the bar which was fine and they had a good choice of drinks. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We had an excellent night's sleep.

Nothing.
