Staff were excellent. We didnt realise it was a boutique hotel and there was no lift. Staying with my 81 year old mother and they realised the 4th floor was not going to work and moved us to 1st floor at check-in. Excellent room which overlooked the Pantiles. The beds were extremely comfortable. I also accidentally knocked my glass of fizz over in the bar, which was immediately replaced free of charge. Hotel bar area and restaurant was also gorgeous, with an open fire... very Christmassy.

Nothing. Its a shame theres no lift which is probably why its 3 stars and not 4. Its an old building so impractical. Word of advice then... if you are physically impaired, ensure you request a room on the 1st floor. Alas, theres no rooms on the ground floor

The location is in one of Kent’s prettiest spots, the Pantiles which is full of history, royal connections and mineral waters. The decor was very stylish, genteel even and welcoming. Lovely colours on the walls, paintings that matched the decor, a very cosy lounge downstairs with a fireplace. This was my second stay and again the staff were all amazingly helpful and friendly. They willingly stored our luggage including a wedding dress before we checked in and even after we checked out. I worked downstairs in the morning and felt relaxed and welcomed. I loved the music which added to the genteel Pantiles vibe. We had a light lunch which was delicious. I recommend the restaurant. I want to make this our family hotel for UK visits.

Great location and most all the staff were wonderfully accommodating. The room was large and comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay.

While most all the staff was amazing, one of the staff members who initially greeted us quite abruptly launched into wanting to charge us for early check-in without asking if we just wanted to stow bags. A softer approach might be more welcoming. Also, it is hard to avoid in lovely older hotels, but the stairs and various doors make it a little awkward to get bags up and down, but not a great issue for us as it might be for some. One staff member graciously offered help out of kindness and just because she was going that way.

EVERYTHING! The staff are a massive credit to the hotel, nothing was a problem. Brian is so friendly and helpful, extremely welcoming and just a delight! We had to solve the problem of accomodating another family member on arrival, and the staff went above and beyond. The hotel itself has a charming Georgian vibe, with cosy indoor corners and lovely outside tables nestled amongst The Pantiles. The food is 10/10, the Argentinian Malbec wine is now a staple, and whatever they do with the breakfast mushrooms is sensational!

That we couldn’t stay longer! I read a few bad reviews prior to submitting my review, and I literally have no idea what those guests are talking about! I cannot fault this hotel! Truly wish we weren’t due elsewhere, so that we could have stayed longer!

The hotel is in an excellent location. However, when booking this hotel you will need to take into consideration it is a listed building and does not have a lift or air conditioning, we were on the top floor! The room itself was lovely and very clean and the bed was super comfortable. The hotel itself is lovely and the staff were super helpful and very friendly. The service was excellent. I would stay again, but for those let able, take into consideration you will have to walk up stairs. So if you do want to stay, ask for a room on level 1 or 2. The room did have a fan, we didn't use it as we opened the windows and there was enough fresh air circulating the room. We had lunch there, which was excellent.

There was nothing that we didn't like.

Perfect location. Bed was comfy

No lift in the property so had to walk 7 flights to get to my room. Room was very small so was grateful it was just for me. Bathroom although okay was very tiny. No spare toilet roll left in the room and less than half on the roll. Messy wires and very dusty. No surfaces to be able to put anything out Restaurant was actually in the reception area which was odd and not very cosy for a meal Breakfast was not included so felt that was expensive for room only. During breakfast all I could hear was a staff meeting as they were only feet away which I felt was inappropriate to hold within earshot of guests to be talking about other guests and what was planned that day

Comfortable bed, clean and tidy. Central location to shops and cafes etc.

Great staff apart from Manager who spoilt our family dinner when we came to pay separatly (as agreed with staff) for a set menu (we had reserved a table but not been informed of the set menu at that time). Aparently set menu prices and a small number of drinks was too difficult to manage for this manager. No 10% discount for inhouse gursts as advertised either. We didnt eat in again during our 5 night stay. Rest of staff were lovely.

Lovely old hotel, beautiful bed and bedroom, classic bathroom too. Although our room was pretty much clean, ( the coffee selection box was very dusty)and the hotel would benefit from a good hoover, polish and paint in communal area’s. Not a good first impression going up the stairs, it looked like it hadn’t been hoovered in over a month. Overall though it was ok for 1 nights stay.

The shabbiness of communal areas.

Just absolutely stunning on the top floor. Lewes and Reigate claim equality with this town. And potentially the Hotel. Absolutely top top notch in room 51. And lewes and reigate come absolutely nowhere near. I am a carpenter multitrader that works around and brings my lovely girlfriend tash. She was in an mildly emotional state due to a first family anniversary of a loss. I couldn't have taken her anywhere else that would have put her so at ease. The local youths are obnoxious but the most harmless in the entire country , so it is an amusing when they are offensive. Couldn't harm a 5 year old. I came in with a very bad back from work and a dishevelled mastic stained hoody, so I was involuntary Saxon and blunt. Bit concierge was 100 percent cordial. May have thought I was a tosser. But it didn't really show. Basically I was a bit travelodge in my appearance, this is a classy establishment, so don't dress as badly as I did. Because this place is worth it to dress a bit better than I did in work clothes

We were delighted with the location - although we thought it might be a little noisy at night, we were out so it didn't matter to us. The room was lovely with nice views, although we did find the stairs a bit of a struggle - so bear that in mind if you have older knees. Our only thought was that it would have been nice to have had an easy chair or two in the room to avoid having to sit on the bed, but it's not a huge thing for one night stays. Breakfast was delicious - and a lovely change from the standard hotel buffet!
