The room was comfortable, the ensuite was good and everything was clean and worked. Good light for reading in bed. Parking at the place was limited but there was plenty of free parking locally. It is a 10 minute or so walk to local shops. Great kitchen so you can store, cook and eat your own food. Breakfast was a hot drink (good coffee) and a fresh pastry - very good.

The walls are quite thin and I had a problem the first night with being woken up at 1 am with noise and again at 6 am.. (Thuds, doors closing, scraping, machine noise -maybe a hairdryer.) The fridge in the kitchen needs emptying and repairing.

A typical student 'cabin' room, with everything to hand except a kettle. Each floor has a kitchen, so no big hassle. Small double bed, which would fit two at a pinch, is comfortable. Coffee & Danish pastry breakfast collected in reception area and either consumed there or taken back to your room. Complementary hand soap, shampoo, shower gel, with nice clean towels supplied. Great to have free on-site parking. Clean, comfortable and convenient for lots of local attractions.

TV in the room was on the 'blink'. Mentioned it on checking out, so hopefully it will be fixed.

Location was great and the simplicity made staying very easy. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Bed, small for two, was comfortable enough for a night or two but it would be a struggle for much longer.

Some of the finishes were a bit tired (the soft bed head was flaking and left black “plastic” in the bed). Personally I think the listing needs to clearly state Thomas is a hostel, not a hotel. For the price the facilities were great but the listing on booking.com was confusing - states parking but it’s only on a first come first served basis (and it looked like there are less than a dozen spaces)!

Friendly staff, great location. Complimentary pastry and drink for myself and my partner. A great social space downstairs and laundry facilities provided at a small charge. The most affordable hotel we've found in the area with the best reviews. There is not much to fault.

I wish the staff would have changed our bedding/towels more. We were told that the bedding would only be changed once a week, but we were hoping that our towels would have at least been changed once after being there for five days. We left signs on our door each day to allow the cleaners to come in, but no one came. We had to go downstairs in the night twice to ask for extra toilet roll ask we were only provided with one for the whole of our stay.

The location was perfect for my visit to that part of Sheffield. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet, clean and the shower was good. This is my third visit and this time I realised the hotel is situated not far from the Peak District so I was able to avoid the M1 And take the scenic route home.

I understand why there is a barrier to the site but both on my arrival and on my return from an evening out I had trouble getting an answer when Impressed the button, and therefore had to wait a while for the barrier to be raised. In the evening, about 10.30pm I had to press the button three times before the barrier was raised - I was beginning to think I would not get access to room that evening - a bit of a worry for a solo female traveller.

Stayed over the night ahead of hiking in the Peak District, arrived late to be greeted by wonderfully friendly staff. Breakfast was included in the price, a hot drink and pasty which was a nice touch being away from home. Room was small, but it’s exactly what I needed - more private than a backpackers hostel but for the few hours I needed to get an early start on my hike, it was perfect. Room Was exceptionally clean with great lighting. Hot shower with complementary wash/shampoo available. Had a great night sleep too, bed was very comfortable. Large double kitchen, with large seating areas available on each floor, were well stocked with anything I may have needed. Toaster, sandwich press, fridge. Kettles, microwaves, hobs, oven, and lockers for belongings! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! Very accommodating and excellent value for money.

Only a slight lack of dessert spoons over knives/forks. Which is hardly surprising given the shared facilities :)

The room was just the right size and it had 3 double plug sockets, 2 of which had USB charger ports too. The bed was super comfortable, the TV a good size, with plenty of good channels and the bathroom spotless with a really good powerful shower. The room also had a lovely view over Sheffield and had a fitted black out roller blind. Perfect!! The staff were all amazingly friendly, helpful and genuine people. I can name Matty, Nico and Kas, who were just the best ever, but the other girl who burnt her arm on an oven was brilliant too. Thank you all for making me feel very welcome.

Nothing at all to not like

Everything I needed. Excellent kitchen facilities which I wasn't expecting and will use when I come again. Bed linen was crisp and clean, towels likewise. Staff were very helpful and keen to please. Lovely surprise to find out that a light breakfast was included in the room price. Quiet location and plenty of parking next to the hotel. Fantastic to be so close to the student village and very, very convenient for meeting up with my student offspring!

Mattress was past its best and really sagged in the middle; I left the hotel with an achey back. Pillows were OK but not very supportive. The upholstery on the bedhead was frayed and torn. This didn't look good and made me feel a bit squeamish. Room looked a bit tired generally and, although clean, decoration needs a refresh. Notwithstanding these comments, which are meant to be constructive, I will be returning. Great find!

The rooms are functional, clean, with a nice bathroom. Staff are friendly and helpful and free drink and fresh pastry in the morning is a nice touch. It is in a lovely quiet location and although it has student residence vibes it is ideal for a short stay.

Car parking is limited and it would may be better if you could park anywhere within the grounds. For example when I was there the Jonas car park was full but the adjoining Halifax Hall car park had spaces, which I was not able to use.

The bed was big, there was a TV with plenty of channels, a wardrobe space, a desk with a chair, a mirror, and a bathroom with a shower and toiletries. Everything in a neat, modern style. I had a really nice rest after days full of activities – if ever find myself in Sheffield again, I will definitely come back.
