The location and accomodations are always fine, but it is the staff in the dining room and front desk that make this hotel a success. We travel very frequently and stay at lovlier places but none of them top the service provided by this hotel. KUDOS to whoever does the training.

The holiday inn, is located next to the cruise port, so most guests are only staying the night before a cruise. While the hotel is now in need of a refurbishment, it was clean and comfortable for a one night stay. The staff were very friendly (nothing too much trouble) and the both meals at the hotel was reasonably priced. There is onsite parking at £15pn and our car was fine both times we have used this hotel. I do feel the amount we paid was expensive for the type of hotel. The holiday inn was mid price range and included breakfast. But as a side note : all hotels in Southampton are really expensive, as they know people going on cruises need a bed the night before.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Holiday Inn in Southampton. Good parking facilities upon arrival, and once in the reception area we were greeted by a lovely, helpful woman called Mariona (I hope I got her name right!) who helped us check in and signed us up as Holiday Inn members. She was quick to recommend a local Spanish restaurant for dinner and also pointed us in the direction of the local shopping centre so we could have a mooch around. As avid car and boat fans, myself and my partner loved our room on the second floor as not only could we watch the local car fanatics speed past on the road outside, we could watch the massive cruise liners leaving the dock! It was fantastic and we spent the majority of our evening watching the boats/cars - it’s worth noting our room was just over £100 and we got the partial sea view which was ace. The facilities in the room were wonderful, large TV, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom. The entire hotel was tidy and nice for our short stay. We also enjoyed a stroll around the local docks and visited the Starbucks (5 min drive) on the docks for our breakfast the next morning which was great fun. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

Nothing - all fab!

All good! We were staying so that we were in situ to board a cruise the following day. The reception area was FULL with people with suitcases...all off somewhere! But it meant there was nowhere for the two of us to sit down! We didn't eat breakfast but had a light lunch as we were not boarding until the afternoon. Lunch and a glass of wine was slightly pricey but enjoyable and nicely served. Parking was OK but was charged for...I never understand charging a guest for parking! HeyHo...it happens most places now.

Breakfast was good and all fresh. We had 3 nights eat in hotel one evening before theatre food and service was good, not posh but very nice. Staff were polite and friendly paid for river view got floor 9 with good out look. Great location

Paying £15 per day parking on top of room price. Service charge is added automatically more and more these days I like to tip accordingly, however I do understand why it's done. I don't approve of a 10% Service charge at the bar. Different for table Service.

Location near cruise ship docks and main shopping centre was reason for choosing this hotel. Very pleasantly surprised! Excellent buffet breakfast with menu choice to suit all tastes and appetites. Busy but extremely well managed by staff. Everywhere spotlessly clean and all staff professional and friendly. Interesting area to explore; mixture of historic landmarks, modern shopping and entertainment options plus spacious and well maintained city green spaces.

I thought the lady on the reception was exceptional and professional , very helpful too. Bed was comfortable and was nice to have coffee and tea making facilities along with an iron, which was required and used. Also a fridge which was used for keeping my medication cold.

Unfortunately the shower wash and hand wash wasn’t a pleasant smell. At breakfast the scrambled eggs, I think were powdered eggs? Otherwise the breakfast was good and staff okay.

Room was perfect for our needs which was a 2 night stay, we had a view of the incoming and outgoing cruise liners which was a bonus, slept well as very quiet. Beds were comfy with lovely clean linen. Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, the service from the staff was exceptional, food was great and breakfast had something for everyone. My daughter has a dairy allergy and they went over and above to ensure she was provided for with no risk to her health so big thanks to them for going the extra mile. Location was good for our needs as everywhere we needed to get to was within walking distance. There was a charge for parking but this is advertised when you book so no surprise, it was handy to be able to park at the hotel as a lot don't offer this now so it was a bonus.

To me there wasn't anything to dislike, quite the opposite.

Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The hotel is only 15 minute walk to cruise port, which was reason for stay.

Check in was extremely slow only three people in front of me, but it took me nearly 25 mins in a queue! Lifts were a disaster when we were leaving, too slow for the number of people with large cases. We actually gave up waiting and had to carry out heavy cases down 3 floors. Apparently this is an issue every day.

The location, the food and the cleanliness were great. The staff were very helpful and did everything to ensure our stay was good. We spent a great day and evening in Southampton and had a very nice meal in the hotel.

The only fault we had with the experience was that the bed matress was uncomfortable as the springs were very noisy and were poking through. We did report this to staff as we checked out and they made a note and were again very helpful.
