At first glance we knew that the Winnock Hotel was going to be OK. Reception was the first port of call and this proved to be easy with a great receptionist who was both informative and very friendly. The bedroom was light and airy that gave off an air of peace and tranquillity and the bar and breakfast rooms were very much the same albeit decorated in a traditional country manner. A good nights rest complimented by very friendly staff left us saying 'we will have to come back'....
Nothing to dislike, To say otherwise would be derogatory and uncalled for.

Staff and local punters were really nice. Food was good and the selection of drinks etc were decent. Room was nice, it has a ramp at the back which was handy for our buggie in and out the car (which was also parked at the back). There was a murder mystery night thing on (which we weren't apart of) but nice talking with some of the folk and the place was busy. Overall the hotel, location and staff were great from reception to the breakfast staff etc.
I would say the only thing was the shower head was only about 4 ft off the ground, so being 6ft, I had to almost squat which showering but it's a very minor thing.

Absolutely brilliant location for exploring around Loch Lomond. There was plenty of parking on site and a Spar just across the road which was great for getting lunch for a day out. The food in the restaurant on site was excellent and the bar was very friendly. The cooked breakfast each morning was incredible.
My 'double' bed was made of two singles which had been joined together meaning that there was a slightly uncomfortable gap between them. The shower pressure wasn't great, but it was nice and hot so not a huge issue! And it's a rustic old building which has a lot of character, but does mean the noise travels through from the corridor/neighbouring rooms. This wasn't an issue as other guests were quiet at night but I was woken up in the mornings.

The Winnock is a large, attractive hotel right on the Square in the centre of Drymen. We got parked easily in the hotel car park which is at the rear and accessible from Balmaha Road. Check in was quick and efficient and our room on the first floor (no 1) is a good size, very nicely furnished and decorated, and very comfortable. The only slight downside is lack of a view, so I would probably request a front facing room next time. The en-suite is a tad on the small side but is also very smart, with quality fixtures and fittings and a roomy, walk in shower with a fabulous, large shower head. There are also nice toiletries and big towels. The hotel bar is fine but in terms of atmosphere can’t compete with the Drymen Inn or the Clachan. Breakfast started with a good continental buffet from which we enjoyed fruit salad, yogurts and juice. We followed this with the Full Scottish breakfast which was substantial and included sausage, bacon, black pudding, haggis, tattie scone, mushrooms, tomatoes and baked beans. All served with tea and toast it certainly set us up for the day. This was our first stay here and Drymen is an ideal spot for a one night stay en route to the highlands (as we were), or for a longer stay to explore the local area. The Winnock ticked all the boxes for us and will certainly be our hotel of choice on future visits.

Quality of the food was excellent - especially the vanilla cheesecake!
Service at breakfast was very disappointing. I had to wait over an hour for my cooked breakfast to arrive. Apparently my order never made it to the kitchen. Breakfast service could also be improved if the hotel had a self-service toaster available for use by guests and also self-service tea selection where you choose a teabag from a tray and pour the hot water into a cup yourself. This would mean that you would get your tea and toast quicker and would free-up time for the staff. Currently, you receive a whole-load of toast at the same time resulting in the last few slices being cold by the time you get to eat them. With a self-service toaster you could get a freshly toasted slice each time.

The village was beautiful. The hotel lovely. Had a room in the back with a balcony. Room was very clean. Coffee and tea making facilities. A bath with a TV!. Shower was fantastic. Towels brilliant white and massive. Had food in the bar and was thrilled to get Gluten free fish and chips. They were really good. Had continental breakfast. It was OK. Would have liked 2 slices of gluten free bread but didn't like to ask as in alot of hotels they wouldn't even have one. The girl in the breakfast room was doing everything with no help and was great.
Thought it was expensive for 2 continental breakfasts, but I usually get the breakfast included, so maybe I am wrong about that.

Traditional hotel with slightly wonky corridoors (several buildings joined together). But we had a spacious room with nice views and attractive furnishings. Everything worked fine in the bathroom (decent over-bath shower with good pressure) though the toilet was installed very close to the wall. Excellent table d'hote dinner for £18.50 (2 courses plus coffee) - three options for each course, very well cooked and attractively served - and although we only had a glass of wine each they had a good small wine list at very reasonable prices. Also a very good choice of whiskies at sensible prices. Nice breakfast for £9.50 continental or £14.50 for with cooked (we had continental). Staff very helpful.

Very convenient for the West Highland Way. Clean and comfortable.
Rather narrow double bed. Limited dinner menu, with choice of 2 or 3 courses. Staff friendly, but appeared to be inexperienced and poorly trained. We ordered 1 starter, 2 mains & 1 dessert, and expected to be charged for 2 x 2 courses, but were charged for 2 courses & 3 courses. Rather than contest the bill, we decided not to leave a tip. The food was good.

Food was excellent. Staff were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble for them . My Mother is wheelchair bound and had trouble getting onto the bed. We spoke to reception and they had a box/Step made just for her.
Only issue were around accessibility - They provided a ramp for stairs for wheelchair bound guests but my mother didn't like using it. There is an alternative way to get around this but it involves going around the outside of the building which isn't the best when the weather isn't too good. They also need a seat (with wheels) for the wet room for non walking guests. However, we all agreed that the hotel treated our wheelchair bound mother excellently as they couldn't do enough for her.

The Winnock is the oldest Hotel in the UK. It was full of character and charm. The location was perfect for exploring the Trossachs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds were very clean, with new mattress envelopes on each bed. The Hotel bar had a great dinner and friendly service. The entertainment was really very good, a great way to spend a Friday night in the Scottish countryside! The roaring fireplace was perfect to warm up after a long hike .
The breakfast was a little basic, although the service was great. The WiFi in the rooms was hopeless - but 4G was available.
