Great location, fab staff, lovely pool, breakfast great

I thought the leisure centre would have been included for guests staying at the hotel - but the price was discounted

After a bad first 2 days in this hotel in a noisy room 344 becsuse of pipe work behind wall… I was upgraded on day 3 to room 326. The lady on reception at 10pm on Sunday 6th November was really good and changed my room to a suite. Room no. 326 The room was so quiet and comfy. It was bliss compared to last 2 days…. I’m grateful to her for changing room for me…. As 2 other reception staff ignored my requests… Once moved it was perfect the suite was that good compared to previous room I thought it was a different hotel….

2 of the reception staff did not take any action to what I was asking and trying to say about the noise in room 344… no action taken untill my last night on day 3…..

Always fascinated to stay somewhere with such contrasting opinions in the reviews. To some of us who have lived nearby, this is still The Grand Hotel, even if not as grand now as it used to be. My experience here was very good. Staff helpful. My room looked to have been refurbished recently. Very comfortable and clean, with good facilities, and at a very good price. No noise nearby on a Thursday evening. Nothing to stop a good night's sleep. I would stay overnight again. No problem!

Failed to work out how to get hotter water out of the shower early in the morning. Didn't try the breakfast here, there are plenty of cafes up in Hanley.

The staff were friendly, and the manager herself came to help us when we misplaced our car keys

The staff are always welcoming and accommodating since we stay regularly due to having to get away from our home to get some rest and quality sleep. Mike the chef even makes me a lasagne which again was amazing. The room is lovely and quiet, as again the staff accommodating with allowing us the same room again. Thank you team best western.

Breakfast always a little let down, never all items ready, have to wait for items and then the other bits end up being cold. And as ive had a gastric bypass I can't eat alot so 11 pounds for a breakfast when I can only manage a slice of toast, one bacon with a few beans and an egg., With an orange juice and i can never finish it , Is alot when it's never hot. With some better preparation I believe their breakfast could be amazing.

Absolutely everything about this hotel was excellent. Location ideal for the bars, theatres and music venues. Really friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed and an actual bath not just a shower. Best thing though was the breakfast. There's all the standard stuff but they will also make you fresh stuff including eggs any way and cheese stuffed Staffordshire oatcakes.

The outside and indeed lobby look a bit tired and 20th century, but seriously do not let this put you off, it's a gem of a place.

I had a suite which is far better then the double rooms as such. They make the whole stay far better. Staff are ALWAYS so so friendly and helpful can not fault them at all!! Absolute credit to the hotel and have always been very approachable and able to help when needed.

It's a shame the other rooms aren't like the suites...however I know there are some being refurbished which is great to hear. I have stayed here many times, never used the gym etc so can not comment on that.

Room was spacious not the cleanest I've ever stayed in. But was clean enough. Bar food is exceptional Mike the chef his food is amazing

Toilet wasn't as clean as it should be, window sill was dirty, and pillow case was ripped. Breakfast was not the greatest. No red sauce both mornings, no white bread second morning and had to keep asking for the eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding and mushrooms. Brought out one item then had to wait 5 mins for another so after bacon and eggs came couldn't be bothered to wait for mushrooms, black pudding, sausages,
