Gorgeous surroundings & lovely feel. Loved the bungalow type rooms, and the pub was lovely with an open fireplace, and they served really nice food. Most of the staff were very friendly.

The heating didn't work in one of the rooms, but they fixed it really quickly and knocked us some discount off our pub bill, which was a lovely gesture. There was one member of staff who we thought was very unprofessional. On his night off, he was in the bar, getting drunk & belching loud enough that the whole pub would hear it. He also went to the bathroom and was seen leaving without washing his hands, and he'd served our meals the night prior. It's not something you want to see from someone working in catering. Apart from the one member of staff that really put us off, the place is lovely and we enjoyed our stay.

Independently accessed purpose built rooms. Very comfortable King Size bed and all needed facilities. Pleasant surroundings. Great shower. Very quiet - well, apart from the thunderstorms! Good breakfast and delicious fish & chips.

Emergency light was, on all night over the external door. Seemed overkill for a one room apartment. Managed to cover it with a towel! The other thing was the stickiness of the tables and placemats. My paper serviette stuck to the table so strongly that it tore as I lifted it. This is a very small issue which can be simply addressed. Sorting a few things like this could elevate the place into somewhere REALLY special.

I have stayed here before and it is a lovely country location and setting with close vehicular access to Silchester Roman Town and The Vyne National Trust property. The rooms are private and nicely set in the grounds of the old pub which is a proper pub! Rooms clean with nice walk-in showers.

I think my only gripe is that the extra sized bed was in fact two single beds with a large fitted sheet over, with two headboards with a large linen cover - I don't think they should be promoted as a bed especially when there was a difference in the depth of each mattress and the uncomfortable ridge down the middle. Next time I will remember to book a standard double instead.

The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Evie checked us in and looked after us at dinner and breakfast and couldn't have been more lovely or helpful. Bed and breakfast was also good value for money

The only reason the room lost a point was because the walls are rather thin and the blind didn't quite reach all the way down to the sill. There are worse ways to be woken by the local wildlife and dawn chorus but 5am was an earlier start time than we'd hoped for.

Great food and friendly staff Value for money Evening meal of calamari and fries.. Yum! Presented well and delicious (salad could have done with less dressing though) Breakfast! Freshly cooked and not a dribble of grease anywhere! Quiet Large room Beer garden is huge and great to see dogs running around! Lovely spaced out tables

Squeaky bed Really warm room when the temperature hit 30°. Could do with a fan, but the number of UK sunny days.... Luckily, I brought my own fan so I was cool. Door a bit stiff to lock Shower over slim bath was too tight for a good comfy shower

the main building, location and outside facilities are excellent, plenty of space . the food is pub grade and rather limited choice especially vegetarian, there should be a veggie burger that seems to be the pub classic now. the staff are excellent, very friendly if a little confused.

The tables in the breakfast area are all sticky and seem to be wiped not cleaned. Our room had a stained carpet as other visitors have remarked this should have been dealt with. The dirty and mouldy shower had a blocked drain which looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time, concequently the shower overflowed into the bathroom so we had to stop the shower and wait for it to clear.

The location was amazing. Very rural.very quiet..the room was spacious and clean...as such..had dinner in the evening and it was really lovely...staff were fabulous and friendly.. breakfast was really really good....oh nearly forgot...the king bed was fantastic and so confortable

The main carpet in our room had a big stain..a little rug to cover it would work..also the headboard covet was horrible.i didn't want to put my head anywhere near it..also the blind in the room was a bit tatty..the main door had glass at the top and from early hours quite a lot of light came through..I like a nice dark room..also in our room and the hotel itself the flushes on the loos were hard work..3 attempts to flush anything away..and suffering from its as I do it was a bit of a nightmare.. and lastly.. £8 for a dessert. No thankyou.

Located off the beaten track so would be suitable for guests with their own transport. Would be a good base for exploring the area. Lots of space for parking off the road. We were in a separate building, which was split up into units. It was comfortable and spacious, good sized bathroom with a decent shower. It was on the ground floor, which was helpful. Breakfast was freshly cooked and a good choice was available.

There seemed to be a shortage of staff, especially at breakfast time. Ongoing issue in the hospitality industry? We arrived for breakfast at 8.30 a.m. (as agreed) and received our cooked breakfast at 9.20. In the meantime, we had to wait for the coffee and ask for butter and some cutlery. The young man serving was polite and helpful and doing his best - no criticism. Check out is 10.30 so it was all a bit rushed in the end!

The bed spread in our room was quite tatty..but everything else was perfect.

The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. There was a good selection on the menu for both dinner and breakfast. Good selection of drinks at the bar Good parking Excellent location for visiting Basingstoke and area

Being on the ground floor we were unable to open the patio door into our bedroom and the side window was fixed closed to let in some fresh air during the night. No self in the shower room for tooth brushes, spectacles etc. The shower was not disability friendly as the tray was approximately 1 ft above the floor with no grab rail.
