The location and presentation of the hotel is excellent. As soon as you drive into the car park you see that they care. The building, the gardens and all surroundings are pristine. When you have stayed a few days, you will see why. Every morning at breakfast you saw the gardener out there tidying and doing upkeep, brilliant job. All the staff throughout the hotel are exemplary, from the cleaners to the management. Again, they really care and are genuinely nice people. From conversations, we gleaned that many had worked there for decades. That alone speaks volumes. As the main reason for our visit was to come to the area to see friends who live nearby we did not get a chance to try the dinner menu. The breakfast was excellent every morning. All food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Chef truly does know how to poach an egg. Great selection of fresh morning goods. The whole all round experience to us represented brilliant value for money. When we come to visit our friends again we shall not be looking to stay elsewhere. That says it all. The hotel and staff are well worthy of our score of 10.

Lovely hotel all round. The food was exceptionally good, great menu choice, and prices not extortionate. Staff were friendly and attentive. The lodge room we had was lovely, just a 30 second walk from main hotel. It had everything we needed. Very comfy bed. Bar area was nice to relax in and the breakfasts were great. We will definitely return!
Nit picking, but the shower did have a tendency to run hot and cold presumably because other rooms were running water. Also they had acknowledged my request for room to be set up as twin beds but they were set as superking. Wasn't a huge issue for us but might have been annoying if you were sharing with a friend rather than a partner lol.

Beautiful hotel, love the features and decor! Staff friendly but especially Billy in the dining room on Sunday evening! Food both at dinner and breakfast delicious! Rooms large and beds very comfortable. Towels soft and wee extras in the bathroom and on the tea tray in the room very thoughtful.
No lift to rooms. I should have requested a lower floor for my uncle but he just took his time on the stairs as his room(15) was beautiful and he was delighted. Bath in my room which I shared with my Mum-I should have requested a walk in shower but Mum managed into bath ok.

Really liked the room set up I stayed in the Mews. Very clean and comfortable. As I was a solo traveller I was very welcomed with room service and all was good. The wine, fish 'n' chips, and a cheeky gigantic sundae was gorgeous. I've always gone to the wee hurie in Troon for a haddock supper but that beat the wee hurie! All room service was prompt delivery and was top notch! The staff were very friendly and quick to assist. I was a very happy customer!!
This is at no fault of the hotel but maybe rethink allowing a wedding party to hire an ice-cream van for the evening. During the day it would be fine but at night it was parked near enough in front of my room. It has to have its noisy engine or generator running to serve the cones. This was on for the full evening till very late at night. Above and what Im next going to say didn't ruin my stay, but the bathroom vent sounded a very upset loud car in my room but seemed to be the same in the other rooms as you could hear them through the walls.

We really used the bar area in the evenings for diner and meeting friends. I had my 2 year old son with me and the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. Felt relaxed at the hotel- yet it clearly maintained a very high standard
Minor things really and it would not stop me from visiting again. I had a pushchair- maybe a bit more assistance with moving up and down stairs- I should have been more forthcoming also. Perhaps a bath would have been good with having toddler.

We stayed in a Mews; they are well conceived for a couple. Delicious breakfast and setting. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Helpful staff.
The bathroom is small and would benefit from an extractor as it turns into a hammam in no time. While there is a back door to access the hotel's main building, having to ring and wait for someone to come open gives you the impression of being a hassle. Hence, we used it only once, while it would be super practical rather than having to walk each time to the main entrance.

Food, staff & accommodation were great. Would highly recommend staying here. Breakfast staff were very efficient and friendly. We had meals in the Bar every night as the food was very tasty.
One night we had made a booking for dinner with a friend. We put a drinks order in at the bar, we saw that the barman was busy - this wasn’t a problem as we could wait. Unfortunately a couple came in after us and another member of staff took their drinks order and went over to the barman and the couple was served before us.

We loved the room size and decor. The checkin was quick the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was cold buffet and hot served breakfast which was very tasty. We also had dinner from the A la carte menu - scallops and black pudding and prawns with mango to start followed by sole and peppercorn beef - all was delicious.served in a busy but lovely restaurant setting.
Our bedroom had no real view but it was booked as part of a deal so wasn't a surprise.

Not ideal having to carry boiling water in mug/teapot from buffet up steps & up to tables by fireplace. And also navigating narrow pathway as other people getting up & down from tables at top of steps. Surely health & safety issue? Breakfast buffet would be better if located centrally in the room. Also better selection of breads and fresh fruit would benefit breakfast. Giant croissants and pain au chocolat not ideal… petite versions please. Overall the food was excellent but some fine tuning in room /buffet layout situation.

Excellent stay again and hotel been refurbished since we were last there and its looking lovely. Our room was so spacious as was the ensuite and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fine could have been more choice at the continental area e.g. fruit but sufficient. We ate in hotel one of the nights and food was fab we should have ate there both nights we stayed!!
Dining room is too bright for evening meals lights could be toned down to give a warmer ambience at night Plates were so hot...great for warm food not so good for smoked salmon...mine started to cook plate was so warm!! Minor issues apart from these stay was amazing
