The room had a crisp, clean impression on entering and everything I needed was to hand. I appreciated having good quality, freedom of use, hangers in the wardrobe. Mostly hotels now have these attached to the rail as a result of hangers being taken by the clientele. Although situated at the end of a long, quiet driveway, it was well lit and welcoming at night.

There could have been a suitcase stand, or simply a thick cover at the end of the bed for the suitcase.

the owner was very amenable. nothing was too much trouble. it was obvious that a lot of love and hard work has gone into the property.

it wasn’t obvious in booking that they were closed for the winter so we were the only guests and were looking forward to sitting by log fires and enjoying a drink. I feel booking.com should have notified us as it was obvious on the hotel website and on arrival that they are currently closed. that said, we were still made to feel so very welcome by the owner which made it a great stay.

The minute we drove down the lane I fell in love with Ugthorpe Lodge. The grounds are amazing and so well kept. Our room was perfect, I have never stayed in a bed as comfortable as what is in room 1. Julie and Steve were so welcoming and made us feel straight at home, they both do a brilliant job at running the place. We will definitely be back again xXx

clean in a quiet area with places to explore

we weren’t notified before booking that the pub would be closed as it was out of season. to be fair they opened it up for us 1 night which was really appreciated, but not the same when you are the only people in there.

Room was very clean and airy

Penalised for using booking.com . If you booked direct you got full English breakfast . If you booked through booking .com uou only got continental . Felt a bit miffed as if we hadn't searched through booking.com they wouldn't of had our booking

It was a peaceful location with lovely views over the Yorkshire Moors. The bar area was lovely. the room was exceptional… very clean and beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfy.. the staff were extremely friendly Lovely place

A bit more choice for breakfast but what we had was lovely.

It was in a lovely location, clean and friendly hotel. The host Julie was very welcoming and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was delicious. I would stay there again and again if I ever ventured that way again.

Nothing to dislike

Spotlessly clean, friendly and likeable staff, made to feel really welcomed. You can see how much love has gone into making this hotel. Every detail is accounted for. Would highly recommend.

The owners couldn’t be more friendly nothing was to much trouble the hotel was superb newly referbished super clean, the cooked breafast had everything you could want.

Nothing we had a lovely stay

We stayed at Ugthorpe Lodge this week & could not fault it. The room was beautiful, very friendly staff..location perfect for visiting Whitby, Robin hoods Bay & the Staithes. We will be back!!!
