The staff were really wonderful and so was the room, once we’d been upgraded.

The first two rooms we were put in had problems. For the third room we were upgraded and then everything was fine but it shouldn’t have happened. The first room was ground floor and the window was broken so anyone could have broken in, the second room the wifi didn’t work (both rooms had blood like stains on the floor.) Once we were upgraded, everything was fine but I don’t think it should have come to that. It’s not like the room we originally booked had been cheap, so there is no reason for that standard.

We visited for our 1st wedding anniversary. Upon checking into our room, which we were able to do earlier than expected, which was really handy, we found we had been left a small card, congratulating us on our anniversary and a small selection of cakes. Was a lovely gesture and meant a lot to us that staff had made such an effort to be welcoming. The room was clean & tidy, the staff were professional and friendly at all times and the breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious! Would stay here again if we were visiting the area in the future

The only thing we were didn't like was there was only 1 small window amd the room felt dark. However, this was not a huge issue as we were only staying 1 night and were out of the room most of the time. May have asked for a room with more adequate natural light had we being staying longer.

Great hotel staff were great we arrived early to leave luggage but let us check in early with out extra charge which was great the room we got the air conditioning was not working so let us change rooms. We had breakfast which was spot on lovely food plenty to eat. One thing I what confused me was there was no electricity on in the middle of the night woke up for toilet no lights would come on but then came back on about 7am not sure if it was a fault or its what the hotel does. Location was not too far from bars and restaurants about 15min walk from train station would happy to stay again though.

Nice and welcoming, it was a good first impression. We did receive an apology that there were no 'welcome cookies' available at the point of check-in but that wasn't a problem. Although, our check-in time was at 4pm, the room was ready much earlier so we managed to get checked in at around 2.15pm. I originally thought I had booked breakfast at the time of the booking but it seems I hadn't so I had the choice of adding at at the point of check-in at the discounted rate of £12 pp or it would have been £14.95 on the day. Additionally, it seems I had received a room upgrade that I hadn't been aware of until I arrived at the room as the key was for a Deluxe Room. (I booked a double room). On the day of departure, they permitted me to leave the car parked there for a further few hours to enable me to enjoy my stay a little longer. All in all, a very pleasant stay at a very pleasant hotel.

I cannot write up about a fault as the only thing was the welcome cookies that were expected were not available when I arrived but as I said, that was not a problem.

Spacious, clean and well-heated. Location was ideal for access to city centre. Breakfast provided a wide choice of good food. All staff were particularly helpful in that both of us have mobility difficulties.

Because of our mobility difficulties we found the bed to be rather hard in comparison to the bed at home which is able to adjust the head and foot. We recogmise that such beds are expensive, but if some beds could be provided with this facility would be helpful even with an extra charge. The background music was monotonous and annoying.

V. Nice breakfasts with speedy service of tea/coffee. Vegetarian sausages not to my taste. Comfy beds. Noah Willis in the restaurant on 18th April was exceptional in his service and pleasantness. He dealt with a problem superbly. Mary who serviced our room for two of our nights was very helpful and friendly. Staff obviously well trained. Excellent location for our needs as tourists without a car.

4pm seems very late to have room access. We didn't have a phone in our room. Some local information in the room would've been good. We only found the menu on our last morning. A non slip shower mat should be been standard in all rooms. An extra blanket and pillow in the wardrobe as standard would've been good.

Very friendly reception staff and breakfast staff. Bar staff also great. Room a good size. When we rang for supplies they were brought really quickly.

It just didn’t seem luxury but that could be because of some of the Covid restrictions. For example, there was no mini bar/ fridge at all. The tea and coffee were the same as any reasonable B and B. Very basic. The crockery and glasses at the bar were like IKEA standard so didn’t feel very luxurious. One mushroom restriction at breakfast which was very good otherwise. Went on to a premier in at Norwich for a 2 day break and room facilities were better for £49 for the night.

We had a great experience from the moment we arrived at the hotel. Upon checking in we were told that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room due to us staying as part of our first year wedding anniversary celebrations! The staff were really friendly and we were even greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies! The hotel was a perfect location, overlooking the walls of the city and a incredibly short walk from the centre of town! The room was a great size with all the amenities needed for a great stay… extra bonus that we were welcomed into our room with a card and plate of cakes! The bed was really comfortable, a great sized TV and the bathroom has everything we needed. Breakfast in the morning had a great selection and all tasted lovely! Overall a brilliant stay and we would chose the hotel again if we were to return for a weekend in York!

The only downside was the lack of parking however we managed to park a very short 2-3 minute walk away for £18 for two days!

We loved that it was well located as we’ve never visited York before so was easy to navigate our way around! The property was very clean too! Bedroom was spacious!

On arrival we went to check in, I mentioned to the reception staff member that I had paid for my booking already showed him on my booking.com app. He was trying to say I hadn’t paid so I again showed him my bank to show it had come out. We eventually got our key and could go up to the room but he then wanted the email confirmation that I had paid before we went up.

We had a cozy double room, with our own private entrance which was very nice. The room was clean and fairly modern. The location is fantastic and only a very short walk to the centre. Staff were also exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The room was very very warm, no windows to open. There was an AC unit which we had on and set to 16C however it acted more as a fan and wasn't very cold. It was manageable with the duvet off and we could have contacted the front desk but didn't want to make a fuss.
