the location is key. it’s in a great neighborhood that you can walk to the bean, lake or River from. there are also good food and drink options on property! kitty O’Shea’s is a fun vibe and the other bar is nice. there’s grab and go food which is actually very delicious! they have security requiring you to show a room key before going up to your room at night which I appreciated!!!

they charge you to use the gym. after paying $300 a night for a room, they want you to pay $15 a day for the gym. seems silly. they also require a tip when you purchase grab and go food. nobody is providing service but when they ring you up you can’t check out without selecting a tip amount, with 10% being the lowest.

We got upgraded to a premium corner room on 19th floor- large room- two queen beds, good views and spacious. All our party could hang out in the room. The guy at reception was great when we checked in. Even though it was a crazy weekend due to huge concert, he got one of our party on 18th floor, right under us. Other party had a really nice room on same floor but other side of hotel. Large pool- only downside was you have to make reservation, but understandable due to size of property. Food is a little pricey, but very good. All staff we interacted with were very good,

Parking was hard, due to huge concert which we did not know was happening. One of our party could not get parking in hotel, but one of the parking staff did tell them a place to try a block away. It did end up having room so that worked out.

One on the gift shop employees stole money from our 10 year old son when he bought and paid for a cup and she took the money but did not put the cup in the bag and also accused our 6 year old son of stealing candy. The boys were with their father in the store and counted out the money for our 10 year old to purchase the cup, along with one cup for our other son. She handed the bag to the 6 year old who brought it to show me, outside the store and when we opened the bag only one cup was in it, and no receipt for the purchases. When my husband went back to the store to ask where the other cup was, she told him he had not purchased one.

The room was okay. Clean but had a stale smell. The breakfast was good. Staff was good. Enough elevators that you never had to wait more than a minute for one. Comfortable temp in the room and in the lobby. Good wi-fi. The room was adequate, but definitely not luxurious.

The view was awful (looking out on a roof and a/c). The shampoo and conditioner were switched (filled up in the wrong bottles). I did not receive extra towels on my second night stay. I had an early check-in guaranteed, but still waited 2 hours for the room.

super clean and comfortable, the pool and outdoor deck were nice (note: you have to make a reservation to use it), I had a view of the sunrise over the lake

Checkin staff (both cases happened to be males) were rude and condescending to both me and my cousins from Switzerland; all other staff I encountered at the front desk, fitness center, doormen, bellmen were amazingly friendly and helpful. The Nascar race was going on when I arrived and it was chaotic. There could have been a warning about that.

Great location, great history at the hotel and beautiful inside. Staff was all extremely friendly. Easy walking to most tourist locations.

Not really a hotel issue but more to pass on tot he city, the people constantly racing down Michigan Ave is dangerous when you’re w walking out front and hearing people gunning their engines late at night makes it hard to get to sleep at times

This is an elegant old hotel that feels fresh. We had a large, very quiet room with two large beds and two baths, one with a tub shower and the other with a stall shower. The lobbies are large and elegant. Our room did not have a view, but we didn't spend enough time in the room to care, and there was plenty of light. Adequate restaurant and a good coffee shop. Grant Park is across the street and the Art Institute a short walk.

That they didn't have parking at the hotel that it was filled. I would think before you rent parking to others, you would make sure you had spaces for those that reserved rooms already. I did understand an event was in town but that was one of the reasons I chose that location was parking was in the building.

Lobby, staff were friendly, felt safe being dropped off by Lyft/ Uber.

We heard a drive by shooting at 545 am on Labor Day right outside our hotel, no cops ever came. The room had some dust around the outlets cobweb in ceiling, beds weren’t super comfy. Parking is ridiculously priced, all the lots across the street charge 40-50% less.

The breakfast was amazing. Huge selection, omelets made to order. Location on Michigan Av could not be better. Three bus stops were within a half block.

This is a beautiful hotel built in 1929, but because of that the rooms are small. We had a very difficult time getting housekeeping to come - which they never did.
