This hotel is located at 1 Canal Place, which is on Canal Street, a main thoroughfare of the city, and is within walking distance of everything in the French Quarter and Central Business District. We had a river view suite, and the view was amazing. The facility was immaculately kept, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a lot of options. There's also a bistro, where you can get grab-and-go meals as well. The fitness center was one of the largest I've seen in a hotel - it is the size of 3 rooms, with lots of treadmills, bikes, free weights, and other machines. Another great thing is that they are pet-friendly, and don't restrict you to lower floors like a lot of establishments. We were on the 21st floor and our pup loved looking out the window at the city.

The only thing that could have been better was the pillows - they were extremely soft, so zero neck support. Also, please be mindful that although breakfast is included, if you do select the Bistro breakfast buffet, it is $27/per person.

We booked two rooms with city views and one room was upgraded to the beautiful river view. Location was great and in walking distance to lots of restaurants and activities. The day of check out we were still site seeing and the hotel bellhop stored our bags until we were done so that we didn't have to put them in the hot car all day!

Parking garage/payment is confusing. If planning to drive/park, don't pay in the garage. Wait until you check in and do it through the front desk. We ended up overpaying by doing it ourselves in the garage.

This is a beautiful place that overlooks the Mississippi River and has great access to a lot of the main touristy sites (Jackson Square, the French Quarter, the Riverwalk and Audubon Aquarium, etc.) The location was also ideal for us since we didn’t want to be in the center of the mayhem that is Bourbon Street but it was nice to have close access so we could come and go from the crowds and loud party scene as we wanted. Our room overlooked the river and had a beautiful view; it was fun to watch the barges along the Mississippi. The room was also spacious, clean, and comfortable and the bed was particularly comfortable. The breakfast at the hotel was also delicious with a lot of choices. Finally, the staff was friendly and accommodating with great customer service.

The only challenge we encountered was that upon arrival, we were told breakfast wasn’t included in our total and would be extra, but when we made the Booking.com reservation, it was clearly listed in our confirmation that breakfast would be included, which was one of the reasons we chose this hotel over others where it wasn’t included. If not included, the cost per person for breakfast is $34.99, which would have been expensive over four days. Fortunately, when I went back to the customer service desk and showed them my itinerary confirmation for proof of this, they were extremely accommodating and provided us with vouchers for the breakfasts during our stay. Just a note to fellow travelers to double check your itinerary and don’t be afraid to ask if something doesn’t seem right.

great view of river

I had requested a microwave when I booked and when I checked in on Friday and one did not get delivered until Sunday Also the music in the lobby on Friday and Saturday used to be better which was part of my reason for staying there, please bring back the good R&B/hip hop music, it makes nice before going out for the evening/night and makes for funner hanging out having snacks in the lobby. It was sort of drab this year and when I stay i'm always celebrating my birthday and life.

Front bellman very friendly & helpful. Excellent gym very clean. Room very clean and comfortable.

Rest of staff indifferent. No table service offered in lounge. Bartender only came from behind the bar to clean dirty tables, then directly back to bar even though only 2-3 tables with customers. Never cleared empty glasses or offered service. Too much to pay for no service. Front desk person upon leaving early morning totally indifferent. Breakfast offered at $33+tax

Check-in was incredibly swift. We were traveling with a mountain of luggage, which was already in our room by the time we checked in. Smooth as clockwork. The location couldn't be any better. At the edge of the Quarter, with all its delights, abundant shopping actually in the building, and relatively easy access to freeways. The hotel has a lovely, large bar that serves decent food, which is convenient if you are in a hurry or prefer not to go out. It has great views of the Quarter and river, efficient staff, and a very open layout that is not too loud. Staff are consistently happy, friendly, and efficient, including front desk, concierge, bartender, and room service.

There were a couple of minor problems with our room -- missing soap dispenser and broken toilet paper holder. These were fixed promptly.

The room was spacious with an exceptional view of the river. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. Everything was within walking distance of the Westin! We have parked there before on Day trips and never had any problems..garage is a safe.

Everything was great, I guess if I had to give something I didn’t like it would be the pillows. They are fluffy and go flat..had to use 2.

The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed we have experienced. The room was large with a great view, and when we asked, it was made up. The roses ordered for our anniversary were waiting in the room. We were able to walk everywhere...

The breakfast buffet was an unfortunate error. The website mentioned Eggs Benedict, so we were disappointed to find only rubbery scrambled eggs. With so many restaurants in the area, we recommend finding breakfast elsewhere. However, the lobby bar operated as a coffee shop in the mornings and had good coffee.

We stayed at the Westin Canal street due to its name recognition and close proximity to the french quarter. While there are other hotels inthe FQ, i was concerned about parking and noise. The riverfront view from the 23rd floor was a great bonus! Oh there is a nice mall on the floors 1-3. Lobby is at floor11.

the room doors on our floor didnt have the soft-close feature. There is a casino across the street. People were going in and out of their rooms at all hours of the night. When the doors would slam shut, it would wake us up from a deep sleep. Very startling.
