Location is prime for downtown Portland, and the thoughtful decorative touches were truly a sight to behold. The vintage typewriters, the lettered flooring, even the room number lighting. Just spectacular to take in knowing the space once held the Press Herald. Such a storied building!

The bathroom door wouldn’t close, almost if it was bolted to the hinge askew or something. Looking at the threshold, we could see the scrapes the door made over who knows how long. It definitely seemed like an ongoing issue. Maybe just a feature of the room? It was the only odd thing. Also, somewhat bothersome that it’s valet only. We’d left some things in the car after valeting, but didn’t want to put anyone through the hassle of retrieving the car just for a few random items.

The rooms was great - spacious with a good bed, a fridge and a large walk-in shower. Staff were super friendly. The location was great for the purpose of my visit. I can highly recommend the hotel.

The only negative thing I can mention is that we arrived after ten o´clock in the evening and then it was impossible to get anything to eat, even at the bar.

We liked the location and the decor. it was clean and quiet. The desk attendant at check-in was friendly. The valet attendants were fantastic, very helpful and attentive. The bathroom was ample, comfortable and very clean. The Inkwell at the end of the lobby has basic breakfast items that you can grab and go or sit at one of their high top tables and enjoy.

Our “superior king” room was rather small. There were nice, comfy robes in the closet but there was no valet stand for the suitcase. There was a desk chair and a bench at the foot of the bed but no other chair to sit on, or space for it. once we closed the curtains for privacy, I felt the light from the lighting in the room was insufficient. We were driving on to Bar Harbor in the morning so we were looking to have a good breakfast and went to the Union restaurant adjacent to the hotel which you can access from the lobby. They were unable to accommodate us without having made a reservation in advance. I thought being part of the hotel (unless it’s not) they should be able to accommodate hotel guests, but no. Thankfully, there was Inkwell!

Great location to so many restaurants, shops, galleries, and the waterfront. The staff was very friendly. Comfortable bed. Maps of the area, showing the location of all the restaurants was very helpful.

The TV system could have been better. No "pause" feature or "back" button to go back and forth between channels. Due to unfortunate timing, we had to deal with testing of the fire alarms and people going into the room, but I do NOT consider that an issue. Guest safety is of paramount importance. A little more information about the room and facilities would be helpful. For example, I did not realize that we had a refrigerated drawer in our room until the day we checked out.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, there is su h an attention to detail to make all of the furnishings relate to its original function as a newspaper press. The room was very comfortable and all the amenities in the room were of high quality. The staff was warm and friendly and quite knowledgeable.

Limited places to unload car, had to have doorman hold our keys while we checked in.

I love how close it was to food and shopping! We walked most of the time during our stay, and used the hotel shuttle for when it was raining out! just give them a 30 min to an hour heads up for when you need to use the shuttle! :) staff was incredibly nice. we didn’t get try out the bar, but saw quite a bit of people there enjoying themselves. Everything was so nice and clean. I loved how comfortable the bed was! Definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying there! :)

We did eat at Union it was great! Customer service amazing, cleanliness amazing! Views and location fabulous!

Being ultimately picky because it’s an expensive stay for one night… I think the linens could be more comfortable and there wasn’t a fitted sheet. Also none of the usb plugs worked. For $500/night I think it would be great if those worked.

Beautiful property in a great location within easy reach of the center of town. Staff were chatty and helpful, especially the doormen/valet guys! Good sized room with very comfy bed.

Website advertised coffee/tea facilities in room but there was none in ours.

We loved the location, the Press was excellent. We have a Commercial Printing company and it was great fun seeing all the typewriters around and letters. Walking around the city to events was super. Brunch was excellent.

Not having a whirl pool tub or swimming pool.

Well designed beautiful decor. Great bathroom with lots of space. Restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful.

Some of the reception staff didn’t have a great attitude. Surprised as emails from the hotel sounded very welcoming.
