ACE HOTEL is kind of a cool and funky hotel, not really for the average business traveler. Locations is downtown Portland, there was parking in lots closeby, not from the hotel, but almost no hotel has that downtown. The rooms was a bit smaller than expected, the hotel is old, but renovated in the way all Ace hotels are, old fixtures etc, it is a particular style. The shower was superstrong and hot and nice quality of brand amenities. Bed was comfy. The teenage boys were in a room with a shared bathroom in the hallway, that was a bit messy and very wet (looked like someone took a bath in the shower). Breakfast is a choice of some pastries9vegan possibilities) and good Stumptown coffee and fruit.

Overall it was good- you get the ACE experience.

Perfect location to walk to restaurants & shopping, delicious breakfast pastries & drinks every morning, coffee shop in the lobby, cool reading loft on floor 1 1/2. Comfortable beds & massive shower.

Could use a comfy chair in the room, just had a table & stools. People parked out front in the hotel loading zone for ages while having coffee—we ended up walking our luggage up from the garage blocks away.

Very cool vibe with the facilities & staff. Free bottled water whenever asked. The claw-foot tub was extraordinary after a long train ride. There were plenty of good restaurants nearby - short walk. The lobby was a fun place to hang out.

I missed having a comfy chair in the room to watch TV or relax - the only place to sit was at the desk or on the bed. The lighting was very dim...maybe a dimmer switch would have given me the option for brighter lighting. The coffee at the free breakfast was not good...and Portland should have the best coffee, even the free stuff. I had to buy coffee out to experience a good cup of coffee!

The hotel and our room both were absolutely charming and slick. We had a corner room and the natural light and views were unbeatable. Location-wise we couldn't have asked for a better home base for our Portland adventure.

It was pretty much impossible to get hot water. I know it's an old building, but I barely got luke-warm water which made showering a necessary evil to be dispensed with as quickly as possible.

I loved the location and attached café. The staff here was delightful, everyone I interacted with was very welcoming and kind and had great suggestions on everything, even where to get bomb Thai food in the middle of the night. The room itself was gorgeous as usual, a great reminder of why I love staying at Ace. The entire hotel is full of little details that make me feel cool and creative when I’m there.

More/cheaper rooms with their own bathroom. My room was great, but I did feel like I was paying a premium to shower in privacy. The majority of the rooms having shared showers feels very hostel-y, but also from what I understand that’s typical for many Portland hotels.

Quiet rom, hotel location is great, convenient to the train service so it was easily reached from the airport. Coffee shop next door was excellent. Located close to Powell books. Delicious muffins and danishes at breakfast. Comfortable bed. Seating areas I hotel were interesting.

The room was quite dark even with the shade opened, the room was on the back of the hotel. The lighting in the room was quite dim. Also one had to be mindful of the step-up into the bathroom-especially in the middle of the night.

This hotel is what I think about when I think of staying in Portland. The vibe was on point and it was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast and breakfast room was great. The price was right for what I got and this place met my expectations and exceeded them. My absolute favorite was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was so down to earth, helpful and kind. It wasn’t the fake overly happy you get with customer service, it was the real human conversation with an individual in a comfortable setting. I only stayed one night but was wanting to stay more because it was truly a great place to stay. If I’m ever in Portland I would stay here again.

The only thing I could think of that I would mention as a dislike is the parking. Despite not having parking, staff was able to point me to a parking garage a block away that was easy to get to and use.

Rooms are really beautifully decorated and had lots of neat touches and items sourced from local artists and shops. The complimentary breakfast is good. Staff are friendly and helpful. I arrived earlier than check in and they were able to accommodate for that. Also had a great location, like a block away from Powells and 2 blocks from a train stop. I feel like for this stay was excellent for the price. Note that I did stay in a room with its own attached bathroom, so I can't comment on some of the shared spaces.

As a so cal resident visiting Portland in December, I thought it was pretty cold. Maybe the rooms could have space heaters or something? Also, unless I am mistaken, the website mentioned that they had a rooftop space. I would have loved to get rooftop views of the city. I asked the staff about the roof but they told me I couldn't go up there.

The room was so comfortable. Big open windows and stylish decor. Beautiful view of downtown Portland. The hotel decor was so quirky and fun! Loved the phot booth and kitchen with coffee and pastries!

One of the front desk people seemed grumpy and not very helpful. She seemed like she didn't work there. And the homeless population outside was tough to navigate, very unclean to walk by. The hotel itself was wonderful though!

I really liked the location, the small breakfast and the great staff at the reception who was always helpful and kind. My room was located in a quiet part of the hotel, at the top floor, which I highly appreciated.

The bed was very comfortable but the room could be a bit more comfortable (e.g. adding a comfortable chair).
