February 2024
The location of the hotel is excellent for events at the Portland arts theaters. Only a block and a half away from the venues. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Some street noise but our room was on the 12th floor which helped a lot.
Be aware that the additional "amenities fees" and Portland city lodging taxes and art fund taxes will add to the price quoted on the Booking site. It was a bit of a surprise that my $138 room went up to $170 upon checkout. We enjoyed a cocktail in the bar and ate at the hotel restaurant which resulted in a $10 credit. Can't escape the taxes if you want to stay downtown. Valet parking is $59 per night.

Easy check-in; comfortable, spacious room with nice balcony; nice food & drink options on-site. Wonderful location for exploring downtown.
Elevators didn't seem to run smoothly/quickly, especially if trying to go from lobby to restrooms on LL. Stairs were quicker, if somewhat convoluted. Valet parking charge was unclear, as we were told during check-in our mid-size Toyota Tacoma pickup was "likely" oversized, though the valet said the manager would decide, and the manager said the valet would. Ended up getting charged the normal rate, and when I responded to the hotel's feedback request, I received a quick response, which I find encouraging and a definite "plus" for the property.

The front desk staff were very helpful with information about the city and surrounding area.
I did like the fact that the hotel slapped on an "amenity fee" of $29 per night. This is an underhanded way to charge more than the room rate. This hotel (and others) should abandon this dishonest policy.

Clean, quiet, and secure. Well maintained. Staff welcoming, courteous, and helpful. Good In-room coffee. Great downtown location with plenty of restaurants, food trucks, shops and such within walking distance. I walked from Union train station in about 20 minutes.
No complaints.

It’s right in the heart of downtown and walking distance to plenty of restaurants, the water etc. Even though there’s no parking provided or valet services, there’s a parking garage where you can park overnight for less than $10 and it’s safe!
They don’t offer the bed and breakfast option which would have axed our stay, as we wanted to stay in.

Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely building, spacious rooms, comfortable bed. The restaurant and bar downstairs were top notch and very convenient.
Not directly related to the hotel, but the city sounds were quite loud at times; construction noises and at times yelling was heard.

It was my birthday and the hotel made me feel very special. It seemed really fancy and comfortable. We had a wonderful time!
We had to pay for overnight parking, which is fine, but I was under the impression there was parking included. Also, and mind you, it's January...the AC filter was musty.

Location to concert venue, restaurants, and public parking was great. Friendly staff.
I really disliked the deceptive low rate on booking sites due to the additional $29 “resort fee” per day. Please, Just add that to the price advertised. What was especially maddening is that city, county, and state taxes were then assessed on both the nightly fee and the resort fee - making the bill look ridiculous with long list of charges. The practice leaves a guest with a bad feeling even though other hotels are doing it too. The practice needs to change - and then advertise “NO RESORT FEE” or “ no hidden fees.” Patrons would be grateful!

The room was very clean and comfortable with lots of light. It had both a shower and a soaking tub. The room is offset from the doorway to the hall, so the light under the door wasn't visible. The pillows were dense and soft. The mattress was firm, and we slept well. There were many instructions when we arrived, but I appreciated having clear information. We were told when the room would be serviced ahead of time, and we were able to coordinate with the front desk to ensure it didn't interfere with our stay at all. The location was amazing. Portland is a very walkable city, and the hotel was in the midst of it all. We left the car parked in the garage for the full three days we were there and walked everywhere. To visit some of the further out attractions, we did a tour that allowed you to get on and off at its various stops.
It would have been helpful if information about parking had been made clearer on the booking site and/or included in the price of the hotel. They did offer valet parking for about $50 a night. There was a garage half a block away that allowed you to park overnight for $25 a night, but you needed to stop in each day to pay. You couldn't pay for several days in advance. This was not a big deal for us since our time was flexible, but if your schedule is more rigid, it would need to be planned out better.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant, where we ate brunch, was decent, and the breakfast yogurt and the cheesecake that we bought with the $10 from our "amenities" voucher were outstanding. Coffee (including lattes, etc.) in the lobby was a great perk. Towels, bathroom amenities, etc., were luxurious.
We didn't appreciate the mandatory daily $29 "amenities fee" on top of all the other taxes and fees, although you can put $10 of that toward daily purchases in the bar, restaurant, etc. (If you don't spend it every day, though, you lose it.) Also, the concierge warned us not to park on the street but to use the next-door garage (much less expensive than parking at the Paramount itself). That said something to me about the neighborhood, though we did not experience any problems walking around.
