Highly highly recommend this property. We were taking a gamble by booking with the lack of online photos but we noticed the quad room featured 4 beds and since we were 4 girls, we thought this was perfect. We were fully expecting 4 twin size beds but to our surprise it was 4 FULL size bunk beds and it was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was extremely clean as well. Staff is so warm and welcoming, they invited us to their Juneteenth celebration. While the rooms are smaller, there is tons of leisure space at the rooftop and the lounge area. Will definitely be returning to this location.

The area is about a 10-15 minute walk away from the main King St attractions, which is reflected in the cost as it is slightly cheaper than staying right in the middle of downtown. The area is quiet but slightly underdeveloped with occasional homeless people but this isn’t a Moxy issue, it’s more of a Charleston homeless situation. Just be aware!

In general I really like the Moxy-concept and this was no exception. Rooms are small, but they are perfectly clean, tastefully decorated and you get everything you need. The common areas are also always great, with chilling and games opportunities. You might read in other guest’s reviews that the area is “underdeveloped”: I didn’t have the same impression. You won’t be in the middle of the town, but it’s just a 10 min walk to great bars and restaurants and 15 to downtown. And it always felt perfectly safe.

There were some misunderstanding at check-in, we’re i was told I still needed to pay the taxes and a deposit for any eventual damage. Actually I had already pre-paid everything -tax included- and when I pointed that out I was told the reservation on my credit card was only for eventual damages and will be cancelled at check out… well, I check-out one week ago and the 48$ are still reserved on my card. The last night the lights in our room weren’t working (none of them) and nobody could fix it, so we had to change rooms. A small inconvenience. Other than that, I think this particular moxy is overpriced and not a central when compared with other locations, but that might depend on prices of Charleston itself.

Location was just on the edge of the redevelopment area. Lots of construction around, but not far from the action. In a couple of years it will be perfect. Food was great, bar was great, the rooftop patio was a lot of fun with comfy seating and great views. All in, Moxy if one of my favorite boutique brands.

Just a little more development around and this place will be hopping with action. Rooms are a little tight and spartan but I am willing to give up space for convenience. After all, I don't go to Charleston to sit in the hotel room, but to experience the city. It's a perfect place to crash after a long day on the town.

Exceptional staff, good location and amenities, very clean. I like the Moxy concept and in this hotel's case the location brings extra charm (don't miss the rooftop like I almost did!) The hotel is within walking distance from the river and, if you're willing to walk a little further, the South Carolina Aquarium/Liberty Square -- City Market -- even the Rainbow Row (~5 miles away). If you are not walking about, there are not many food options nearby, but the hotel's bar/lounge by the reception (6th floor) is fairly well stocked, from fresh fruit to a good kitchen-prepared selection that was available well into the early evening (9-10 pm). There's a Starbucks on the first floor, but you can also have complimentary coffee at the bar -- and/or a cocktail on that rooftop!

We loved the playful yet sophisticated ambiance; very industrial & European with lots of comfy or scenic places to enjoy. Although the room was smaller than most hotels, we were there to explore not hang out in our bedroom. Staff was cheerful & helpful. Decor was trendy & fun. The shower was exceptional, complete with Korres toiletries. Highly recommend staying here!

We would’ve loved two pillows instead of one for sleeping. The distance into the historic district was too far to walk so we had to pay for parking there, as well as valet parking at the hotel.

Location was good. We appreciated that the hotel was reasonably close to historic sites, but without the extra city hotel taxes. Trendy design, beautiful rooftop lounge.

I wasn’t a fan of the queen beds toe to toe. The first night I had to slither from my place near the wall along the narrow ledge between the beds three times. There was no refrigerator (we always have leftovers). The only drawers were slightly recessed under the beds. Did you imagine your older visitors would welcome that?

This review is to thank the customer service team for graciously handling a situation. I was unable to make it to our trip due to an unexpected personal matter. The accounting manager dealt with the scenario with grace and professionalism. We did not get to make our stay however I will be coming down to Charleston in the next six months. We will be staying at the Moxy Charleston the customer service is top notch thank you very much.

Cleanliness and very pleasant staff - always would speak and say hello.

Small rooms and no room to sit to work at desk. No chair or room in bathroom for toiletries, etc. Very expensive for a Saturday night say - double the other night costs, not right.

Great amenities, good vibe, comfortable bed.

Music from bar was fairly loud at night and after that was turned off, guests in hallway were noisy - sound cut right through the walls.
