Location was fantastic. Hotel is very beautiful.

My only complaint is that our room smelled. Our arrival on our first night, the smell was so bad that we asked for another room. Hotel staff wouldn't come up to the room to investigate. They said that they would look at other options. The smell persisted during our entire stay. I am not sure if it was the cleaning supplies that were used, but every time we opened the room door, we were hit with this awful smell. We became accustomed with the smell after the first day, but it was still strong when we returned to the room at the end of the day.

Very excited to be in this location. I'd been to DC before but everthing I wanted to see this time, JW was the perfect location. First night was on the first floor and I really wanted something higher up. The manager was very accomodating and was willing to move us the next day up to the 7th floor and it was perfect. Even on the first floor, you're one story up so honestly, we could have stayed there had there been no availability to move. We were right along 14th and I thought we'd hear traffic all night long. It was so quiet! Couldn't hear a thing from outside.

The staff was SO curteous and helpful. We really appreciated that! The hotel is very centrally located, right by the White House. The entire place was very clean, and the bar has a really great cocktail menu! There is a resort/amenity fee that is charged for each room, but the value for that was pretty great! We got credit to spend at the bar and two tickets for the moonlight trolley tour around DC.

The "Monument View" from some of the rooms that offer that as an upgrade is more of a partial view, because the rooms face West and the monument is South. Very minor issue though. Not enough to detract from all of the things we liked.

Staff. Absolutely spot on. Helpful. Cheery. Five star.

Rooms look tired. While everything was clean, housekeeping excellent, carpet, curtains, bathroom, floor lobby (not main lobby) just looked tired. Color might help? Elevator floors dirty. Beds very comfy.

the room cleaning was very late in the afternoon and sometimes i was reaching in the room at 17 pm and the cleaning was just starting. the cleaning ladies were duing a great job but i want at 17 pm when i reach to rest not to wait outside to finish cleaning

The valet was rude on the morning we left, and we had to park my van .7 miles away in another lot, had 7 people and luggage to load, and was told we had 10 mins to load up or move to the street. He just wasn't professional in asking us to be as guick as possible. Staff, the night we arrived was very professional and told us 30 mins.

Location was just what I wanted. Ordered room service once, food was good. Beds super comfortable.

The rooms were nice, however the design of having a barn door to the bathroom was not. No privacy. Everyone in the room can hear your business. And if you turn on the light on the middle of the night it lights up the whole room. Also we had a view of the courtyard which was a disappointment.

The hotel is in an excellent position, just around the corner from the White House. The room had many amenities and the bed was very comfortable. I really appreciated the early check-in after a long flight from London. The staff are all very friendly.

The eating options in the evening were very limited, with only the small bar-restaurant open with a limited menu. The other option was to buy food to take to the room from the well-stocked hotel shop.

The hotel's proximity to the National Mall and many excellent dining choices was perfect for our stay. The bed was comfortable.

The bathroom was small and ordinary. It only took one or two blocks away from the hotel to find homeless and drunk street people who made us uncomfortable.

Really clean. Very comfortable bed. Spacious "high-class" lobby.

Had to jump through a few hoops (Have to join Marriot rewards program) to get the "free" wi-fi. I would think you should just be able to join their network and enter a password they give you (or name/room number). There is no charge to join and apparently no commitment of any kind, but I hate to "join" networks like this. There is no complimentary coffee, and our room was stocked with a mini coffee-maker with enough supplies for just two cups of coffee. And the second morning, they left us two more coffee pods, but no more cream, so we had to take our one cup each of coffee black.
