Location was great for Yarralumla where we were visiting, clean room and comfortable bed. Great shower too. Next door to a small shopping centre with Coles, cafe, bakery and other shops. We had no problem checking in at all but we did arrive during the day. The room locations are listed on the concrete pylon next to each set of stairs. Use your phone torch to see where your room is if you arrive at night.

Door between the room (to allow it to interconnect if needed) was paper thin and we could hear every word said by our ‘neighbours.’ Pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable.

Terrific the Statesman keeps its unique political history themed throughout the hotel. Suggest info points around the hotel to share the interesting stories from the day especially if there’s a re it’s of who stayed in what room! The coded self-access & comfortable renovated rooms is good. The atmosphere in the welcoming restaurant & tasty generous meals were a big hit with my family & me. I liked the ‘pop-up’ style cafe for a quick danish breakfast & good coffee too. Certainly will be my go-to stay when in Canberra while visiting family & friends locally.

The ‘Help me to tidy my room’ sign/ service is odd. Strangely (except for Sat) only the towels were changed (& didn’t need to be) but nothing else ie bed unmade & dirty restaurant dishes left on bench from Thurs-Sat.

The bed is very comfortable and I love all the space to unpack and put things away. I hate living out of a suitcase. Shower is excellent and the bathroom floor stays dry. The e hotel concept suits us … no key to find. Everything we needed was there. Service level was perfect. We appreciated fresh towels and empty bins but there’s No need to make the bed for us.

We stayed 3 nights but the noise levels around the hotel were terrible on the first night(Tuesday night) It sounded like noisy trucks or motor bikes coming and going. Was it garbage trucks working at the nearby shops or something? We couldn’t work it out. It was about 2.30 am when I finally got to sleep. The next two nights were quieter.

The ambiance of the hotel is like a home away from home. After getting the hang of using the pin code to open the room door, it was very easy to enter the room without a room key. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious with simple furnishings. Great that there was ample space in the car park and it is free. Very convenient to have a Coles supermarket next door. Good value accommodation for Canberra especially if you have a car.

The fact that there is no reception to receive you when you first arrive is something that needs getting used to. Other than that, it is a great place to stay in Canberra.

Bkfst good & simple & quick. Location is excellent & handy to facilities, friends & places to visit. The renovation is going well & the rooms significantly improved with a face-lift. I enjoyed the coupe of meals I had from the bistro & the beer selections from the bar were good to bring a few mates.

Moving a 10-15 kg bag between the security parking area & rooms on the upper level was slow & awkward-a simple elevator would be helpful for more ‘senior’ clients. A fly screen on the balcony doors would much improve the ambience of the rooms to leave the door open & save you money on a/c. The dining area is noisy to eat with friends-too many hard & reflective surfaces. The security gate to the parking did not work on a few nights I was there.

Everyone and everything was 10/10 We loved that we could have breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to leave the premises if we wanted a lazy day. Every meal we had was delicious and fresh. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Di from the breakfast cafe was lovely and she gave us some great advice about what to do and even where to find the best laundry mat….. which was very much appreciated. Dylan whom served us our dinner, always had a sincere interest in how our meals were and was just so friendly and polite. All the staff were friendly and approachable. We can’t say anything negative about staying there and we’ll definitely be back!

My room was very clean and comfortable. The location was also very convenient for the things I needed to do.

Noisy neighbours. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the last year or so and this was the first time I had encountered inconsiderate neighbours. I am not an early bird so up until midnight I am quite tolerant of noisy comings and goings, but on this occasion there was a lot of loud voices well into the early hours of the morning and doors frequently being opened and closed (not quietly either). I like to have a good nights sleep prior to having to drive home the next day.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Statesman. The room was clean and well appointed with a very comfy bed and lovely crisp linens. It was quiet with no noise from the hotel at all despite being a weekend. We ate at the restaurant one night and found the meals excellent and well priced. Everything looked very clean and modern and many tables to choose from. The position of the hotel is great being central to most Canberra attractions plus Coles is a five min walk away for any last minute needs. All in all we found the Statesman excellent value for money and will definitely return.

Our only gripe was the stairs up to our room. We could have paid more for a ground floor room though. The air conditioning in our room didn't really cool well on a hot weekend but we managed and I didn't report it.

The bed was big and very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and nice. The location was good, with a café downstairs and a bar/restaurant next door. The hotel offers a few free locked parking spots; however, there are plenty of free parking spaces nearby in case those are full. The neighborhood also seemed safe.

They offer room service, but what they don't tell you is that it's only for cleaning the bathroom and changing the towels. They only make your bed every 3 days, so if you're staying for a shorter duration, they won't do it (although they don't inform you about this upfront—I only found out when I asked after noticing my room was untidy). There's no safety box or any secure storage for valuable items. There's no receptionist, but they respond to your messages. Additionally, there is no elevator.

The Statesman doesn't have a "front desk". All contact with staff is by email, text or phone. Nevertheless, when we had a problem with the toilet in the first room we were checked in to, staff answered the problem promptly and arranged for us to move into another room straight away. It couldn't have been any quicker or more satisfactory. Well done to everyone involved. The on site breakfast was also very good and available seven days.

As mentioned above there was a problem with plumbing (toilet cistern didn't refill after flushing). But as also mentioned above this was resolved very promptly and courteously. I'm sure it was just "one of those things" and every other feature of the rooms was excellent.
