I absolutely loved this place! It has an old house vibe that made me feel like I had stepped back in time, without losing the comforts of the modern world. It's very cosy and welcoming, and SO beautiful. The location also, is quite convenient with the city centre in walking distance. My room was quite big and comfortable, with a lovely view, and I loved all the furniture and decorations. John is a wonderful host and you can tell he truly cares about his place and keeping it looking its best. Oh and the breakfast available all day was wonderful. Especially when we went on tours that left very early. I am truly in love with this place, and highly recommend it, if you like this style of accommodation.

I think the only downside is that from the room I was staying at you could hear the cars on the street, so not much sound insulation. But that was a very minor thing, I still slept wonderfully.

This Bed and Breakfast did not disappoint, John the owner was very friendly and hospitable. The location was perfect and within walking distance to everything in Hobart. The breakfast had many options and catered for dietaries ( Gluten Free), I especially loved the Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey. The room was clean and beds were comfortable, equipped with small fridge, tea and coffee. Great value for money.

There was some traffic noise as it's near a main road but ear plugs sorted that out. Also if staying the basement you will have to walk up two flights of stairs to the bathroom. We didn't find these things an issue but it's good to know.

We stayed a week and loved it. The location was central to everything. The house is beautiful in its history. John was welcoming and helpful. The rooms and beds were extremely comfortable and warm in the depths of the Hobart winter. The breakfast room was amazing, every need had been thought of and the food was delicious. We have found our new place to stay in Hobart. Oh and the parking excellent especially as one of our party is disabled. Finally it was SO clean, the cleanest place we've ever stayed

Didn't dislike anything. If pressed for suggestions I would suggest tissues in the room & a hook or two in the bathroom

Breakfast was simple but really nice. Ceraeal and Toasts. Dietaries were catered for easily, nice breads for toast and lots of tasty local Jams and Honey. Rooms were clean and very groovy. Check in/out was very simple. Host was very helpful. Location was excellent right on the edge of the cbd, a short walk from most attractions. Parking onsite made life very easy too.

Rooms got a bit hot due to no cooling being an older building, would be fine in cool weather but would get hot on warmer days. (I do have a preference for very cool rooms, so also just me)

This gorgeous old school B&B is in a large Victorian house on Macquarie St, a short walk from the centre of town and only a block from Hobart's fab Nepali pub, The Chowk. You host is the affable John, who loves a chat and knows everything, and has furnished the B&B with an ecclectic mix of historical photos and artifacts. The rooms are big and spacious and warm and the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast is supplied and you help yourself to a range of toast or cereal. Thanks John, we'll be back!

It didn't affect us but if you have trouble with stairs this may not be the place for you, but there are two rooms on the ground floor.

The Edinburgh Gallery was a great find, and John was a terrific and helpful host. The location was perfect and within a few blocks of the city and Salamanca waterfront. Parking was included at no extra charge which I've found is rare in Hobart CBD. The room was spacious and welcoming and I'd give it a ten out of ten for cleanliness. Bed linen was crisp and pillows comfy, and the electric blankets were much appreciated. The complimentary breakfast was perfect and we were welcome to use the kitchen at any time to make a drink, although our room had tea and coffee making facilities. We'd definitely return on our next trip to Hobart if there's a vacancy.

Nothing to dislike, everything was lovely.

The owner is a lovely obliging gentleman. The building was built in 1900s and is a beautiful old building. We had two rooms, bathroom and walk n robe at a very reasonable price. A great place to stay if you like older dwellings. Convenient parking out the back. Breakfast available every morning. Very comfortable and clean.

There are 10 rooms and you may have to be a tolerant person to stay here (or bring ear plugs). Noise does travel and one night it sounded like the people above us were dancing a jig! One woman came into the kitchen and was taking other people's toast out of the toaster so she could take over. Not appropriate but that is what can happen when you are sharing a kitchen. We were there 4 days and only had these two negative experiences. Don't expect super modern but having said that our bathroom was tiny but completely refurbished. I like the older eclectic decorating and would stay here again.

This accomodation epitomises the laid back feel of Hobart. The host, John makes it feel like home. The breakfast is second to none and caters for all dietary requirements. Our room looked over Mt Wellington and had a comfy bed, a couch and tea facilities in the room. The Wifi was good and daily papers were available to read. This was our third visit and I see no reason to change. The location is a short walk to Salamanca, Battery Point and the CBD, and slightly longer to North Hobart. Buses pass by the front door.

We only had 4 days to spare for our trip.

Amazing place, so cosy and super friendly host! This was the ultimate cosy place to land in hobart and will absolutely always stay there from now on when I return. Really cosy room for our family, we where so comfortable with our toddler he could have a nice big bath at the end of a cold day. It felt like just staying in someones house as the interiors are beautiful and homey and the house itself is really beautiful. There is amazing antiques and art everywhere to be inspired by. Great breakfast and easygoing setup which was really comfortable for us. 10/10! Thanks!

Location, an easy walk down to the water front. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, interesting and comfortable accommodation, and fascinating decor and artifacts. John our host was very friendly, helpful and informative. Good breakfast.

We loved our first, ensuite room on the ground floor but when we returned, after our tour of Tasmania, we had a room downstairs, which was, rather dark and we had to walk up two flights of stairs for the nearest toilet and bathroom. It was also noisy, due to location on a busy road junction and the nonstop beeping of the pedestrian crossing on the trafgic lights plus the security alarm at the nearby school going off twice in the night
