Another heritage-type building, this one without an elevator ( although staff will assist with luggage as required). Could be an issue for those with mobility problems however. In addition the hotel is located on a ridge, which is a bit of a climb if you end up spending a lot of your time down on the flat area of the waterfront. For my wife and I, this presented no problems, and the location was very central to other parts of the CBD that we walked to. Regarding staff, I really only saw whoever was rostered at reception ( they were each friendly and helpful). Given that reception was also in the breakfast room/bar/coffee area, the same staff member appeared to cover all of that too. The hotel did not seem busy for the 3 days we were there so it seemed to work. But staff levels did seem sparse. The room itself was large, with a very comfortable bed, small-ish but very adequate bathroom, and good wifi. The furniture was all old-fashioned and interesting, perhaps even antique. We loved it. A special word about the breakfast. It was Continental style with local produce. It wasn’t the big chain-hotel buffet style feast, but we were very very happy with what was offered! It was great! We would definitely stay at this hotel again. As for local recommendations: besides all the bars and restaurants in the waterfront area, try Flippers Fish n Chips (good), Jackman & McRoss Bakery in Battery Point (superb), and Ja & Jon Vietnamese in the Elizabeth Street Mall (walking street), which also has loads of retail stores, ATMs, restaurants and a Woolworths supermarket.

There was a musty smell in the room that was noticeable in the beginning but not overtly bothersome.

The Macquarie building is an 1875 vintage building. From the moment you walk in the door it feels welcoming and opulent with burgundy carpet and heavy red velvet furniture. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was very comfortable. Nice little extras were the included breakfast and biscuits on the mini bar. This was also the only accommodation we found that was able to cater to a group of three without doubling the price. We were very happy with our stay.

As with any inner city accommodation, there is very limited parking. This is not a criticism as there was public parking within a few minutes walk.

Macquarie Manor is a grand old building and tastefully decorated . The bed was extremely comfortable and the facilities were good . The manor is very quiet and you feel like you’re there on your own . The staff are great . Very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was excellent and included in the price . Overall the stay was very good value for money .

The stairs …. After a long day of walking Hobart we were exhausted everyday.

The room was clean and huge with high ceiling. Bed was comfy, but a bit soft if you like a firm bed. The breakfast was a substantial continental selection and we were very satisfied. We loved the old style of the decor, suits the age of the manor. Staff were absolutely fabulous, so bright, chirpy and helpful, well done girls!

There was quite a bit of traffic noise as the windows are old and only single glaze. The hot water took ages to come ip to the room, but once there, was great. That's the only downsides of this beautiful old building. A suggestion would be to install gas fires in the old fireplaces downstairs and maybe a nice candle for the added ambience as guests enter.

Location excellent for walking city. Close to wharfs, markets, Franklin Square, Battery Point, Museum/ Art Gallery, shopping centres. Room was spacious and clean. Sofa and bed comfortable. Cold water readily available. Continental breakfast good. Staff extremely efficient, friendly and helpful

It Is Heritage building so no lift, and some of the fitments in our room were in need of repair/ replacement. Traffic noise in our room from Davey Street at rear not helped by old windows being jammed open.

Excellent communication with the property, which accommodated late check-in and gave us an upgraded room. Breakfast was great. It is a nice, quiet hotel with very spacious rooms. The bed was nice and comfortable, and we had a restful sleep. The after-hours check-in and check-out process was easy. Great location! It is a peaceful little place in the CBD.

The bathroom facilities are dated, it is an old building, and there was a bit of a wait for hot water, and this was noted in the welcome letter. It perhaps wasn't explicitly clear that parking had to be booked, we luckily got a car park on the street directly outside.

The room was beautiful - full of light and mine was quite spacious. The old furniture was also gorgeous - antique wood wardrobe & dresser and a huge four poster bed - while still feeling comfortable. The temperature control on the room worked well even though my room had very high ceilings.

It's an old building so there was a little difficulty getting hot water in the shower but the staff gave me some tricks and it worked well by the second day. The television wasn't a 'smart TV' in my room, but I didn't watch it much, so no big deal.

The room was large; the breakfast was very satisfying; the cleaning staff were very friendly; the bar was handy and seating areas at the front of the building were very convenient and also happy hour drinks was a bonus; we asked for a replacement pillow which was provided; great location.

The pillows were too soft; the towels were not always replaced when the room was cleaned; happy hours drinks selection was limited;

My room was exceptional! I had a little seating area with two sofas where I could comfortably watch TV with my cup of tea, a massive & very comfortable bed & the cleanest little bathroom. Parking space was great & they let me leave the car for a few hours after my check out so that I could explore on foot for a little while which I really appreciated. Breakfast was a lovely continental style spread with something for everyone, everything was fresh & well replenished when needed. Location wise was great, within walking distance to so much & very easy to find from the airport. I left my phone charger behind in my room & the girls were lovely, even posting it back to me within a few days.

I genuinely couldn't find a fault with the hotel in any manner. The only downside for me personally was that I was on such a flying visit that I only got to stay one night!

The Hotel was a beautiful historic building and furnished fabulously. Room was extremely large with fridge and tea/coffee facilities plus a well equipped bathroom. Complementary continental breakfast was very satisfying and had wonderful quirky crockery which just made the whole experience special. There were a couple of reception rooms which were fitted out beautifully and had lovely historical Tasmania literature books. Staff were also very friendly and helpful

Wouldn't suggest any changes and would definitely stay here next time we come to Hobart as such a wonderful place.
