This is our favourite place to stay in Hobart as it is good value and in a good location on the edge of prestigious Battery Point where there are cafes and restaurants and a few small shops. It is also within walking distance of Salamanca and the harbour (10 min walk). The beds are comfortable and the rooms are super clean. Some rooms have views over Hobart to the bridge and Derwent river. Rooms have a small kitchenette too should you wish to self cater. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and parking is free, a massive bonus in Hobart where parking is expensive.

A better selection of teas would be great and a mini bar would be a boon, but having said that, the hotel is very close to a bottle shop. Other than that I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. It is a no frills hotel, no extras, but that is why the rates are so splendidly reasonable.

The room was spacious, clean and well lit and the bed was very comfortable. The mini kitchen had everything we needed and there was plenty of parking. Good location, just a 10 minute walk to the Salamanca area meant this was a very pleasant stay indeed.

Nothing we didn't like, except maybe we did get some cooking odours from other apartments and there was no safe in the room (there were safe boxes at reception) which was a bit of a nuisance.

St Ives is located an easy, flat 7 minute walk from Salamanca Place and 10 minutes from the CBD. Leave your car and walk to enjoy the Hobart streetscape! There’s a great little curry house, Magic Curry in Battery Point, easy flat walking distance and the Shipwrights Arm Hotel for a good pub meal too, less than 10 minutes walk. Check out Smitten Merino, Tasmanian made pure wool garments, almost across the road from the motel. The room was very clean, quiet and everything we needed in the kitchenette to prepare some meals. The bed is super comfy and the hot shower has the best water pressure! There’s even a bottle shop next door that was very convenient.

The location was easy to find, quiet, easy for a tour bus to pick us up from, within walking distance of Salamanca Place and Battery Point. We enjoyed walking around the area with the old historic homes and pleasant gardens. The room was spacious, including the kitchen facilities and bathroom. The view from the balcony was great too.

The mattress in our room sagged in the middle. However there was a single bed also in the room so one of us (me) opted for that one the 2nd and third nights. While the towels were replaced quickly ( too much really for the environment) the milk was not replaced at all. We were there for three nights after all.

Spacious room with kitchenette. Excellent location - less than 10 mins walk to Salamanca Place (Salamanca Markets) and the MONA Ferry. We didn't have a car with us but car parking was included. We appreciated that they had an easy late checkin procedure in place as our flight was delayed and we arrived after midnight.

Nothing that needed improvement, just a few things to be aware of: the beds are quite soft, which some people love but doesn't suit everyone, and pedestrian access to reception is through a carpark (adjacent to a bottleshop driveway/carpark) which can get busy, so take care when walking through with children. When housekeeping came through on the second day, they didn't replenish our teabags, but they made up for it the next day by giving us eight!

Room was a great size, bed was big and comfortable and even on the 1st floor it felt very safe. The room was well equipped, lots of kitchen utensils, cups, bowls, iron, ironing board, microwave, kettle and teas / coffees. Bathroom was really clean and had soap and lots of towels that were replaced when the room got serviced. The staff were very helpful, we were able to check in a few hours early and leave our bags with them after check out. The location was great and easy to find, 10 mins walk from the busier parts of Hobart, less than 10 mins walk from a supermarket too. Would definitely stay here again!

Very clean and well equipped studio apartment with an enormous bed. Excellent sound proofing for outside noise but not as good internally. Not a problem as any noise was usually in the morning. There is easy parking and signage and we found it easily. Very convenient bottle shop next door. The welcome was pleasant and there is a laundry on the ground floor for guest use. Short walk to Battery Point with all the bars and restaurants. Recommend the Greek restaurant on Salamanca square and the St. Ives apartments.

There was nothing.

We stayed there 3 nights. Our Room was so modern and very clean and quiet roomy. Staff were so friendly and helped us out by letting us keep our hire car parked there after check out so we could walk to the market. We enjoyed the fact that we could walk to Hampton street and Salamanca and the waterfront everything in walking distance. Bed was very comfortable and the extra pillows were great. Just a perfect hotel and location. Also has a bottle shop next to it . Reception open late in case you need anything.

Didn’t have a fan in the bathroom but that wasn’t too bad. Our room was on the bottom floor so we didn’t have any view but we did have a walk out balcony area to sit or get fresh air. Occasionally the noise travelled down the corridor by noisy guests early in the morning.

The apartment was a good size, comfortable and had everything we needed. The guest laundry was also very useful (though not cheap). The location was great for walking around Sandy Bay, Battery Point and the harbour area. We were extremely impressed with the customer service from St Ives, both during our stay and afterwards when they searched for and found a lost credit card for us.

The unit was clean and plenty of room to move around it was clean and the staff were very friendly and accomodating particularly the gentleman who was on each night.

We booked 2 nights first up and needed to extend a further night but we were a bit disappointed that although we had been there 2 nights the rate for the third night increased significantly. It’s sorta like no loyalty to us when we had selected to stay 2 nights then added an extra night..it’s not as if the room had been replenished or bed changed.
