The hotel is in an old building with lovely architecture. The inside of the hotel is also fascinating. The room itself was very spacious, with a high ceiling. We got a two-bed room, which we did not expect but welcomed. The hotel's location is okay, but at the top of a hill, so walking to the downtown area became quite a hike.

There is no parking in the hotel, but parking on the street was easy. The toilet was a bit small. The wifi was terrible; it didn't work at all during our stay. Breakfast was a bit disappointing.

A very charismatic place. The host gave us warm personal touch.

I like everything in the house. Just that the facility list in Booking.com was a bit confusing, I expected 2 bathrooms as the facility list in Booking.com mentioned shower, bath, toilet, private bathroom, bath or shower in ‘separate bullet points’. We realise there was only 1 bathroom sharing amongst our group when we checked in. But this minor misunderstanding did not affect us too much, we all enjoy the overall stay very much.

I came across Windarra as a last minute search for accommodation, close to Launceston hospital, as my wife had recently broken her ankle. All aspects of my stay exceeded my expectations. Susanna (host) is very kind, considerate, and was very compassionate to my situation. She responded immediately to my queries, being very flexible to my needs (late arrival, parking), taking the trouble to ensure that I would be comfortable. 'The Residence' is a very spacious apartment, with a large windowed central room (a tasteful extension to the old house), linked to the original (refurbished) building, bed rooms, separate lounge, and a very large bathroom. It met every possible need. This is very comfortable accommodation. The location on High Street (elevated on the ridge line) is central to all of Launceston's highlights.

Very beautiful house and very clean. Susanna is a warm and welcoming host. Our room is very spacious and every time we came back to our room from exploring Launceston we feel like we are at home safe and relaxed.

Launceston is generally hilly so be prepared for the hilly landscape. This part of Launceston is hilly but gorgeous so I find it worth the effort and we found taxi in Launceston very reasonably priced so problem solved for us.

We loved everything, it was such a beautiful property, it made us feel like we stepped back in time. Much easier to navigate the stairs than travel in the UK but with a similar feel. This place is fun, romantic and comfortable. The breakfast is just perfect to kickstart a day exploring this historically aclaimed city. The dining room fireplace if lit, says "come, sit a while, take time to wake up before going ut this morning". This family owned business is well worth supporting.

So sad that our stay was not longer 😆

Easy contactless check in. The breakfast was delicious. Very friendly staff. Lovely old building. Able to check out but leave our luggage at reception for a late flight. Very comfortable after hiking the Overland track for 7 days. Lovely fireplace in room although no need to use as a heat wave in Tassie during our stay

A bit noisy first night from other guests. The room was quite small ( the Elizabeth room) but had everything we needed. No aircon and hot weather experienced so quite uncomfortable at times.A pedestal fan only.

The hospitality was second to none. At every breakfast it felt like you were visiting with family. Sitting out on the patio with coffee and pancakes was fantastic. The house has history and elegance to match. A pleasurable place to stay as a couple.

The room we had was getting a little tired. Colours were drab and the carpet a bit worn. It was clean and presentable, but lacked a little flair.

Windarra on High is all charm and elegance. It’s a beautiful step back in time with all the luxury of modern convenience. We met Gordon both mornings at breakfast and his attention to his guests was a breath of fresh air . The stories you hear around the breakfast table was a delight . We particularly liked the fresh fruit salad and local yoghurts , the granola was delightful. We were given a sneak peak into some of the other rooms and the elegance and attention to detail in each room is personalised and unique to each one . A treasure will we find out on all our next return stays. Thank you Gordon for being so generous with your time , not just to us but all the other guests around us . This is a beautiful grand residence about a 15 minute walk to the cbd. We had the Somerset Suite - room 4, which is a very spacious queen room, located upstairs, with a bathroom, kitchenette and dining table. It was very quiet, and there was plenty of on street parking. Entrance into the property is via a smart lock so it was easy to check in as we booked our room last minute. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the formal dining room which is a really lovely and classy - on offer is fruit salad, yoghurt, toast, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. All up this is great value for money.

Feedback wise the TV screen could be bigger for a bedroom so large.

Huge room in a stunning 1850’s Victorian house. It was so comfortable and quiet and in a gorgeous street with similarly beautiful houses. The breakfast was delicious including good quality coffee. Although there were a few steep hills to climb when returning later from town, this wasn’t a problem and we thought the location was great. Gordon & Susanna were super friendly & helpful hosts.

Nothing! We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this great hotel to everyone.
