Staff are great, though it is an older hotel, rooms are comfortable and with a small fridge, microwave and toaster as an added bonus. Southern Cross station is nearby and trams are right outside the front door. There is a coffee machine and both still and sparkling water available in the dining area.

My only quibble would be the shower door was very narrow which did make it difficult getting in and out, otherwise nothing wrong.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and met our expectations.

Upon arrival the staff at the front desk was not very friendly. She did let us leave our bags there before checking us in. When we came back to check in she was on the phone with whom we assume was her boss complaining about a college. She then continued this conversation in front of not only us but other guests before excusing her self to the other room and asking for a college to manage the desk.

Location! At the Southern Cross end of Bourke St, so very convenient for getting around Melbourne, and access to public transport. And so quiet despite being in the centre of town and so close to the railway station. Room was a great size, and the bed was extremely comfortable. And the shower had just the right amount of pressure!

The bathroom needed a more careful clean/check - other people's hair on the tiles in the cubicle, and the body and hand soap container in the shower was empty.

The location very close to the train station was excellent. The bedding and towels were very clean. The room was comfortable and had a pleasant view from the window.

There was no information in the room, including no contact number for Reception. So, I had to keep going downstairs, for example, when I found that the tissue box had only one tissue left and no extra box had been left in the room, and then again when I realised that the wi-fi passcode was not posted in the room. Also, there is nobody at Reception after 11 pm, so if you need anything after that time, you've missed out.

I appreciated the nook I could relax in after the visit to the CBC. The fab coffee on tap and available fruit. Breakfast needed more variety for the older person who can’t have spicy or gluten. More fruit options perhaps. I did enjoy the Bircher. I loved the photos and interesting painting. All very in keeping with the historical building.Perhaps a small summery of the history of the building would help your fab hotel standout from the crowd. They are all birboring the same these days. I loved my stay and recommend it to people in Newcastle.

Location & connectivity - very close to southern cross station/skybus terminal. Free tram station stops in front of the hotel too. Amenities - fully equipped with everything we need. Kitchenette & laundry (coin operated) Room size - big enough for the two of us Cleanliness - very good & up to our expectation

Few flight of stairs to enter the lobby. No 24 hour reception on duty.

Location couldn’t be better. The Hotel has a quiet relaxed feel. Coffee machine downstairs. Fabulous you can make a coffee any time of the day.

Some areas of the Hotel felt a bit tired. The shower curtain in our bathroom didn’t reach the floor so water went all over the tiles outside the shower cubicle. I had to use our towels to mop it up. The bottom of the curtain was old and mouldy. Someone knocked at our door and came in to measure for a new curtain. There was no apology. Absolute minimum crockery and cutlery provided. No smaller side plates. Just 2 big plates.

The hotel is terrific, great location to everything and comfy.

Unfortunately the carpark boom gate was broken so we could not park there. Breakfast in the restaurant leaves alot to be desired compared to what you can get within 100m of the hotel, the restaurant is lovely and has heaps of character but the meals are not generous and 2 pieces or avo on toast means one piece with it on it and a 2nd empty piece of toast put underneath.

The room was bigger than we expected and very warm and comfortable. The bathroom was well laid out, and the shower was very good. There was even a microwave and some crockery, so we could have breakfast or a snack. Finally, the location is unbelievably convenient. We checked out and were at the airport half an hour later.

The ice tray of the fridge defrosted on our first night and the floor and nearby carpet got a bit wet. That's it, which shows how good the place was.

Alto was GREAT. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a friendly smile (honestly, this didn'tchange at all during our stay) & the transaction was painless. Our first unit had an out of order washing machine, so a room change was arranged. The rooms are smaller than they appear on the internet, but we fitted in well. Having two bathrooms was wonderful. Parking on-site was very handy. However, the initial turn into a deadend laneway was a little scary & and parking our hire car did take a lot of skill - as the six bays are very tight. It would be handy to have a remote control to operate the gate - rather than getting out pressing an intercom & then racing in before the gate closed. Location wise, it was good. Trams & easy to find food close by. My brother totally enjoyed lolly bar. Would consider staying again when next in Melbourne.
