The location was excellent for walking around Bruges and it's right on a canal. The host was very informative about sites to see in Bruges and good places to eat or shop for chocolates.
There was not a door between the bedroom and bathroom. A mirror in the bedroom reflected the bathroom so no privacy. The hot water heater was out in the evening and the next morning. The host called for repair but had no hot water during our stay.

Well deserving of a glowing review B&B Anna 9 is in my opinion better described as a small boutique hotel. We loved it. Within easy walking distance of the historical centre in a quiet location beside a canal and renovated during the pandemic to a high standard in sympathy with the period features of the house. Our room in the attic was vast spotlessly clean with a huge and very comfortable bed a big bathroom with contemporary fixtures and fittings. A lovely bright airy space to wake up to and spend time in. For a coffee addict the Nespresso pod machine in the bedroom and the commercial easy to operate one in the dining room which made delicious coffee was especially welcome. The garden is a little oasis beautifully designed and well maintained a quiet place to relax in after pounding the cobbled pavements of Bruges. So thank you Lieve and Jan you made us feel very welcome and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend your "boutique hotel"

A truly private, peaceful, comfortable & luxurious experience at Anna9. Stayed in the top floor King Deluxe room which was huge by hotel/B&B standards with excellent quality fittings & amenities. Located on a canal, an easy 10 min walk into the main areas of Brugges, yet away from the hustle & bustle. Plenty of information provided to explore the city & area. Just to note: - the accommodation doesn't have a shower, just a large bath - wifi is a little patchy on the top floor These were not a huge issue for us but just for information..... We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at this high quality property & would book it again should we return to Brugges.
Nothing important.

We were attracted to Bruges after recently watching a replay of the 1959 film The Nun’s Story on YouTube. Set in Ghent, it was actually filmed in Bruges, and the opening scene features a canal-side house next to a bridge. So what was our delight, when checking into Lieve and Jan’s lovely B & B at Sint-Annarei 9, to discover that the building in question stands just a few yards up, at number 22. Audrey Hepburn is no longer there, of course. Instead, at number 9, there are the ever-smiling, ever-efficient and gracious Lieve, and her expert engineer husband Jan, who have restored the house to a very high standard. We had the Garden Attic, which is spacious and light, elegantly furnished, and so quiet it is hard to believe you are near the heart of an historic and lively city. The house is beautifully furnished throughout – antiques downstairs, modern fixtures and fittings in the bedrooms –and the breakfasts, which are optional, are generous and delicious. Sint-Annarei is the perfect location for exploring the town. Originally the Scottish quarter, it was subsequently a centre for small workshops, every one of which seems to have had an eye-catching and intricate brick façade. You can walk to central Bruges with its museums, galleries and restaurants in ten minutes; for lunch or dinner we especially recommend Brasserie Cambrinus at Philipstockstraat 19. More locally, do not neglect the Adornesdomein round the corner with its sixteenth century Jerusalem chapel, or the ethereal Church and convent of Our Lady of the Pottery with its attached museum, further up the canal. Altogether a delightful experience, especially for couples who appreciate kindness, interest, calm and charm.

Our hosts could not have been kinder. The location on a canal is beautiful, and the attic room we stayed in is simply lovely - romantic, comfortable, and spacious, with gorgeous views. Off the beaten path, yet close to restaurants and attractions. Too many thoughtful touches to list! Classic contemporary interior with tastefully appointed antiques. Impeccably clean, of course! We did not opt for the breakfast (jet lag from the US so we tended to sleep late) but evidently it was delightful. Option to buy beer, cava, and other beverages to enjoy in the back garden, sitting room, etc. Restroom downstairs for guests. A place to store luggage before check-in or after check-out. When I asked for a fan, the hosts borrowed one from a neighbor to accomodate my request! They truly could not have been more welcoming and gracious. It was an absolute joy to stay at Anna B&B, highly recommended!!
53 steps to attic room! 19 to first floor, 20 more to second floor, then 14 to attic room. If you have mobility issues, be warned. No shower; however, the bathtub is deep, with a shower wand as one often sees in Europe. Boat tours on the canal come by often and can be a bit loud, but there is air conditioning in the rooms so you can close the windows if you prefer.

From the coordination prior to our arrival through to our departure, everything was superb. The property is gorgeous in a quiet area but close to everything. Our hosts were delightful. The honor bar was a nice touch and the lounge was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We were in the Tibo Suite which had a seating area, two fireplaces, two vanities, and a fabulous bathtub. The suite has four windows which open onto the canal. It was fun to watch the tour boats go by. Needless to say it was the perfect respite as we recovered from jet lag and explored Bruges. We stayed 3 nights. Would definitely stay again. Don’t miss Cafe Vlissinghe, just a few streets up, the oldest pub in Bruges.
With no enclosure, we seemed to splash a lot of water on the floor when showering.

This property is a spacious nicely renovated family home and the owners live on site. The accommodations are very comfortable and clean and within walking distance of all you might like to do in Bruges. Our room also had a very warm fireplace which was perfect for warming up and drying out on cold, rainy, December evenings. The host is also very kind and responsive should you need to contact prior to or during your stay. The cost was very reasonable - definitely worth a short little walk for the savings, kind host, and beautiful property.
Parking is a bit of a walk away - at least 7 minutes. Not a far walk unless you have a bunch of stuff and it's raining/snowing etc. We knew this coming in so it is not a knock at all - just something you should be aware of when planning. Not fun to shlep all your stuff in the rain. This is typically the case in older cities like Bruges, Strasbourg, FR and others. My best advice is to pack as light as possible (and we did) and know if you're visiting these types of locations, you will be dragging all of your stuff over many cobblestones.

We received a lovely greeting from Lieve upon arrival who proceeded to give us a thorough rundown of Bruges Historic Centre. The room (Canal Luxury) was spacious with calming minimalist design. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Coming and going was easy with code access to the property. We also appreciated not having to carry a key or key card with us while out and about. The location was also exactly what we were looking for: being on the edge of the very centre, it was quieter but within very easy reach of everywhere we needed to be.
We'd have loved a more powerful hairdryer and, considering the price paid, would have hoped to have had breakfast included, however, all-in-all we were very pleased with our stay - thank you!

This accommodation is in a fantastic location in Brugge, directly on a canal. The house has history and flair. Externally the house looks old, but from the moment you ring then door bell for access your realise that everything inside has been renovated to the highest modern standards. Best of all though, was the enthusiasm and attention to detail of the owners Lieve and Jan. On arrival Jan explained everything we could ever need to know about Brugge, its history and its importance through the years. He gave excellent tips on where to park the car. Lieve looked after the excellent breakfast - setting us up for a day of exploring. We can't wait to go back.
The worst bit about Anna 9 is that we had to leave.

Wonderful visit chez Jan and Lieve at Anna9. The room was very comfortable and we had all that we needed. The bed was cozy and pillows were just right. Jan provided a wonderful intro to the city of Bruges when we arrived, including what and what not to do, touristy spots to avoid, etc. plus we had a nice tour of his garden, which he is very proud of. He speaks 5 languages so I had fun practicing my French with him. One thing - We were on the 2nd floor so our upstairs neighbor woke us up clomping on the floor above. The hosts did ask guests to be mindful of the old wooden floors and to please tread lightly, but I guess our neighbor didn’t get the message. That’s my only complaint. Thanks for a great visit in Bruges. We enjoyed this drippingly picturesque town so much more than Amsterdam! (Too bad the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and STRAAT Museum aren’t in Bruges! Then there’d be no reason to ever go to Amsterdam, which is nothing but chaotic dodging of bicycles and trash all over the streets! But I digress . . . ). Thanks again Jan and Lieve for a great visit!
