Hostel with hotel structure, well placed, very clean and organized. A short walk from several transport options, including from/to airport and train stations. My bedroom had its own restroom, which was great. Also had 2-single beds with no bunkbeds over, giving a bit more privacy even in a shared room.
Check in procedures were a bit confused (I arrived a couple hours before but instead of collecting my documents and let me fill all forms to attend faster when needed, the one on frontdesk said no extra procedures were needed). Each room doesn't have its own key to unlock electricity, so if you are in a shared room, someone place its key and needs to leave, everyone who remains inside get heating/cooling and lights off. They should also offer bookings with breakfast included - they're good but not sure if worth the amount claimed.

Good vibe, my room wasn’t super social but I felt comfortable sitting in the bar and doing work around other people. Beds really comfy!
Underbed lockers don’t actually lock, so make sure you have another way to secure your belongings! It’s also a bit of a walk (20-30 mins) to main sites which I don’t mind as a leisure walker but could be a hassle for someone less able to get around. Close to public transport but it’s a bit spenny in Brussels.

Location was great. Walking distance to everything basically. The female only rooms are a great feature. Very handy to have clothes washing facilities and a kitchen on site. Being able to cook definitely saved money. The bathroom in the shared rooms were very nice. Good to have frequent cleaning of the rooms and towel changes. Great eco initiatives too!
My expensive ear protection was (probably accidentally) removed during cleaning and I never got them back despite frequent inquiries. The punch machine in the games area is very loud, jarring and disruptive to the communal areas although it is kind of a cool novelty. Some of the kitchen facilities need some care, for example the plate missing from inside the microwave. The clothes washing facilities are a bit of a pain in the ass to use, but appreciated none the less.

This is the third Meininger I stayed at and it's my favorite because of the full-sized bar next to the lobby. It's an honest to goodness legit bar to hang out at if you don't have plans and just wanna have a few beers. They even have live DJs/music on the weekends. Love the location (it's close to several metro and tram lines) and convenience as I was there for a festival nearby. The showers are some of the best I've used at hotels OR hostels. It's kinda a Meininger thing, all their locations have great showers. The big individual lockers are so useful too (but bring your own locks or you have to rent one).
Nothing really. Could the prices be a bit lower? Sure. But overall, I was going to stay here again for NYE until my plans changed. :)

The rooms comfort was excellent. Super clean and warm. The 4 beds room at least were super good. I just heard that larger bedrooms have only 1 bathroom and that's really too poor. The employees were nice in general.
For a 130 bedrooms hostel, the kitchen is ridiculous... super small, not enough glasses or cutlery... The dinning space as well, not enough chairs when there's a large group. The worst: a "boxing" game just next to the dinning space... I don't know who had this great idea but sometimes having dinner was a nightmare with these "boom" next to you every 5 seconds.....

Big, clean, fun atmosphere. I was there with my daughter (26) and it was perfect. You just have to walk a few hundred meters and over a bridge and you are right in the middle of it all. Great restaurants etc. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were quick to replace anything that was needed. It had a variety of savoury and sweet so everyone happy. Our room was huge and everything was spotless. Excellent shower, too.
The property was great, but most direct route from the train station that we walked wasn't great, taking us through some sketchy areas full of litter, homeless etc. We walked from the train station, perhaps a taxi or transit would be better. Or walk through town...not the most direct, but far preferable!!

Review of frid 29.12.23: Room 211 Meininger Hotel Brussels City centre Popular hotel and very well set up for students, entertainment, bar, internet, and hostel amenities. In walking distance from Contre de Flandre train station to the hotel The room was modern and very spacious, with separate sections for toilet shower and basin un private room. Rooms and showers are radiator heated for winter. The reception lady Laurel was very helpful. Free Wi-Fi is available. We did not have breakfast. In walking distance to night markets. Beautiful atmosphere of Xmas Markets and people enjoying the celebrations. We stayed for 2 nights with a view of the canal. The Brussels Canal (French: Canal de Bruxelles) Thank you very much in the Luxembourg language: French: Merci

We were stranded by the flooding of the Eurostar tunnel, and were forced to stay in Brussels overnight. Our hotel room had a large bed (two singles pushed together) as well as an extra single on the side. The bedding was clean and in great condition. The room itself was large with ample lighting options for all guests. We had a 2 year old with us and the room had no need for childproofing which was amazing because there was space for him to play and run around as well. The room had a small shower which was ample and a separate toilet from the hand-wash area which I liked. The passages of the hotel made for a great play area as well for my toddler to blow off some steam before bedtime because they are quite wide and nicely carpeted. There is also a small games arcade and small kiddies play area to entertain the little guests. An extra feature that I'm not used to seeing is a guest kitchen, allowing you to store and prepare your own meals inhouse-this is fantastic. We had dinner at the bar, and were skeptical because the pizza came from a packet in the fridge, however it was actually pretty good! The bartender was a lovely hostess and recommended some local beers. Breakfast was a lovely surprise. We were greeted by a friendly man and it was quiet around 8am. I expected a small spread for the price we paid but there were so many choices. For me it was the small touches like; vanilla sugar, waffle batter with waffle irons, big varieties of all cold meats and cheese and tonnes of jams and spread options. There is also a bigger kids play area in the dining room which gave mum and dad a much needed break to enjoy our coffee while the little one played independently. The cartoons on the TV were also a nice touch. The staff were really accommodating and helped us get fresh milk for our sons morning bottle at 7 before the restaurant opened. We also had a late check out at a rate of £15 for the extra 3hrs.

Really large hostel with huge common area with bar and games room. Found it really easy to meet people (I was solo traveller). I was in 10 person dorm and the rooms were massive, which made it really nice. No aircon but surprisingly in summer (30 deg C+) the rooms were still fine temperature. Free towels included as well. Toilet / shower was inside the room but was never an issue. Beds had reading light and power point for charging. Location was 15-20 min walk into the city centre right along the canal so again was totally fine. Buffet breakfast was great as well. Not sure if you have to pay I just walked in each morning. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Brussels
No aircon slightly annoying, but I researched all the hostels in Brussels and basically none of them had aircon, and was still OK in middle of summer. Would be good to have separate shower not inside room as had to wait sometimes for it to be free. They might have had these already but I didn't notice (or ask).

The location was very good! The private room I had was very comfy with a decent sized bathroom.
I wish there was a small fridge at least for the private rooms. Upon parking my car the barrier doesn’t go up unless you get out and ask reception which stopped cars behind me from entering. My room was located perfectly at the end of the hall but there are floors and rooms that are shared and could be heard from down the hall quite loudly. The restaurant attached did not have many options available for food, only snacks and slices of pizza.
