The location was perfect, it was close to every attraction you could ask for. Nice restaurant, attraction parks, good night clubs. It was safe also, also keep in mind the bedrooms are not that big, but there are ok. You have lookers to keep your thing safe. There’s a beautiful kitchen where you can cook till 11 pm, however the hostal is open 24/7, besides that people was really friendly, specially Greg, he was so helpful and kind. Besides all of it, I met nice people they, that help me with my French learning process. Keep in mind, that it is a hostal, so there will be many people from different cultures. Also be aware that you can not have food in the bedroom neither eat there. And that you have to take off your shoes before entering the building.
The only thing I didn’t like is that they don’t knock the door before entering the room, but I imagine it was because it is a hostel.

-All receptionists and hostel staff were helpful, gentle dealing and receptionist is providing clear guidance about hostel rules and facilities. -Easy to reach to hostel location. -Clean, Free strong WiFi and have free coffee all the time. -The location was great and nearby to various landmarks, restaurants, tourist places and the like. - Reasonable price, maybe lowest compared to others. - I have enjoyed staying in this hostel moreover the guests during my stay period were lovely, friendly and respectable.
Washing machine was not working. Hopefully it is being fixed now😊

The best thing was a location. The hostel is in a nice area of the city and walkable distance to a lot of things. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
These are not bad things but just a warning. At least in some rooms beds have three levels, so if you aren't able or don't want to sleep in a top or middle level, I think you should leave a note when booking. However, three people in 'one' bed means not a lot of space for luggage. Also, you need to take off your shoes when inside. I liked the idea but the rooms and the check in plus kitchen have separate entrances. So if you want to go from your room to the kitchen you need to put on your shoes walk a street like 50 meters and then take them off again. Makes it a bit uncomfortable. But it's not a big deal as the hostel is not bad.

Excellent central location, in the heart of old Montreal, next to all the shops and restaurants. A very quiet safe hostel, with enough bathrooms and showers and free coffee. Super friendly, professional bilingual staff.
The lockers are metal and located in the dormitories, so when they are being used, it makes a lot of noise, and disturbs the sleeping. Also there are not enough shelves, hooks in the bathroom areas, and often you have to put your stuff on the floor.

I did not really checked the location when I booked since I just needed to be in the city, but when arrived, I realized Alt location is very convenient. I stayed at the Plateau Area during my previous short trip and explored a lot of places, including Vieille ville, this time staying there is different and felt nice. Lots of activities around, many restaurants to chose from. It was perfect. The staff is nice and helpful : 5/5 recommend. * Thank you Becca for making the check-in recap easy, I am sorry about the name reservation, I have never encountered any issue with it before, not with Booking.com nor hotels but I take note of your advice. * Thanks Greg for the nice late night/early morning conversation about so many topics and the origins or the Auberge, thanks for your assistance to our questions and for not giving up until you found the baking soda! * Thank you Morgan for explaining how to use the French press coffe machine, j'etais dans la misere. The place is clean and well kept. It is always a good idea to have a women only room, so thank you for this. I felt safe the whole time. Thank you to the volunteers, Ryan and another guy I did not catch his name.
I thought I had booked in a 6 bedbunks room, but I ended up in a 12 beds room. There was a lot of movement early in the morning when some girls had to leave for their flights. Bed 1 in Room 001 is badly exposed to the lights when the door opens. My sleep was interrupted many times. I think a solution can be found about this like adding a wood pannel, or Parevent. Or change the beds disposition. The beds were squeaky, lots of noise when we turn during our sleep.

Absolutely wonderful! I stayed only 2 days but everything was great. I'm 60 and so don't stay in hostels often. I felt welcomed and enjoyed meeting some other travelers that I don't meet when staying in hotels. Kitchen/social area is filled with natural light. Cafe is strong, as I prefer. The dorm rooms are spacious and have tables and chairs for relaxing when not out exploring fabulous Montreal. Stepping out the door into the historic old city is in itself a pleasure! A special thanks to the staff who were great about changing rooms. Merci.
Nothing. But I highly recommend earplugs in the event your room has a few snorers.

Very nice hostel right in the centre of Montréal. Cozy athmosphere in the common area, nice crowd and very friendly and welcoming staff. Everything was superclean and the kitchen equiped with everything you need. I would definitely come back again.
The only think I didn't enjoyed was that the beds are quite squeeky and it would be even better to have some curtains on them for more privacy. As the location is right in the centre, you need to be aware that it takes a moment to walk to the next supermarket (about 16 min) and prices of the (numerous) bars and restaurants around are a bit higher than in other parts of town, as the area is very touristic. However, not a reason not to go here!

staff were super sweet. shoutout Sabina and Tomas who both deserve raises. the free food was a definite plus. very nice location, and I did not feel scared walking around at night as woman 👍 met some interesting people and very cozy atmosphere.
man, I get it its a hostel, but some people showed flagrant disregard for anyone other than themselves. putting their luggage in the middle of the dorm, talking late at night on the phone, or just generally rude. however, dealing with people's bs is generally a part of life. also, the beds could've been a little more comfortable. despite this, my stay was great, and this place is definitely worth a stay.

Met expectations of what to have from a hostel - all facilities were reasonably clean and working without issues. Staff was kind, and had clear rules that should be followed in the common area. Generous amount of AC provided in the summer. Great location if travelling around Old Montreal, and a walkable distance to the metro
I wish the staff ensured rules were followed in the dorms and corridors at night. People were making commotion (talking loudly, making noise) until 2 a.m. on both nights of my stay. This degraded my sleeping experience.
