Royal Blue hotel, great location, lovely room, great staff, fantastic views.

Not being advised that it was part of a shared complex. Breakfast was chaos, far too many people, coffee machines breaking down, long queues of people. Would've been much better if each hotel had its own breakfast facility, would have felt more classy and comfortable.

Perfect location, very good rock beach and pool with sea water (filling every day). Family room is spacious, nice, clean. Bus station is near, bus 6 goes directly to the city center.

1. Soundproofing is so bad, paper walls, we heard every word, that our neibourgh said. Someone is talking, someone laughing, someone went to the toilet - you hear it all. 2. Poor breakfast, not 5 star at all. The same things every day, and frequently we needed to wait, because meal lots are all empty. Few coffee machines, queues, need to wait. 3. All smoking area in breakfast terrace. I understand, that in Croatia smoking is not forbidden, but we are non-smoking family with small kids. And every breakfast we had to breathe smoke from here and there.. Non-smoking area would be appreciated.

We had an amazing room with a view, huge balcony, fantastically clean, big bathroom and overall extremely spacious. Breakfast each day was lovely although having managed to go and eat at another big hotel near the Royal Blue, we realised the options were somewhat limited. Each morning on the balcony overlooking the water and views was a joy. Get there early and you won't be disappointed. Great coffee.

More options at breakfast and better quality hot food. Staff seemed super unhappy and we weren't sure why. The restaurants onsite that are part of the larger complex for dinner are not great. The day bars are great for a drink and snack but lack really good lunch options. I think in Australia we are spoilt for choice and these didn't live up to the standards we expect. Front desk was always a shambles and the staff always looked harried, angry and unhappy. Vats improvements could be made.

We stayed at The Royal Blue which is one part of a huge complex with 5 hotels. They are essentially all connected and you share many of the same facilities, which is a bonus. We spent a lot of the time by the two pools that are right by the sea and all the jump in/climb in spots. Also close to the "On the Rocks" restaurant where you order all your food and drinks. They don't take orders from your sun loungers which is a shame but you can just go up to the bar to order and it's v close. The cocktails were delicious and the food also really good. The sea is INCREDIBLE! Make sure you bring or buy a snorkel it is so lovely to see all the fish. Jumping off the rocks is so fun but there are ladders for those that are not keen. The rooms are so comfortable, the beds are lovely. It is such a nice hotel! Oh and the rooftop pool and bar is amazing with a sensational sunset view! We honestly had a wonderful time. TIP you need to go out around 8am to put your towels on your sun loungers. Oh and I highly recommend the 4 hour speed boat tour to the Blue cave and some other caves.

Going from the main reception to the Royal Blue needs to be better signed. It would be great to be able to order drinks and food from the sun loungers.

The location, the building and staff all great. However, it should be noted this is one part of a 3 hotel complex and it appeared to be the most expensive. The rooms where vast but the facilities identical so unless you need a big room consider staying in the building 12 feet away the royal Neptune that shares the same entrance, pools, restaurants etc...

The spa had been great until our final day. An hour after they opened the sauna, steam room and pool where all still being cleaned. They even assured us the pool was safe to swim in with a pool cleaner plugged into the mains that was

We had a sea view room and the view was absolutely amazing. One of the best I have seen. The rooms were also super spacious and very clean. The hotel beach is rocky with no sand. The water is also deep. There were plenty of lunch and dinner restaurats at the hotel to choose from. The location of the hotel is great. Roughly 30 mins cab ride from the airport and 10-20 minutes into the old town. (10 mins with cab & 20 mins with bus). The bus stop is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel and runs every 10 minutes, which is super convenient and this takes you straight into the old town. We had the most amazing stay and will definitely be back. There is also a great hairdresser at the hotel.

Spa changing rooms are very small

We stayed at the Royal Blue for two weeks, having been last year and loved it. It is a great base to visit locally into Lapad and Dubrovnik old town (via the very convenient number 6 bus), but also further afield (we went to Pestar and Kotor in Montenegro and Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina this time). Beautiful rooms, wonderful staff and the best view from any hotel room balcony! The food at the hotel is great, the breakfast is plentiful and varied, while a couple of times we ate lunch or dinner at the hotel (in Zoe restaurant) it was great food. The boardwalk into Lapad is a delight taking you to several excellent dining options.

The gym has the cardio machines by a glass wall, where the sun shines full on you! It really needs blinds and better air conditioning in there! Plus the area around the main pool is very slippery when wet. I complained about that last year after I slipped and fell quite badly, the hotel manager assured me they would instal non slip matting. This year I was disappointed to see they still hadn't.

The location is great, the amenities were perfect too. Very comfortable room and the food was lovely

The only downside (and it is minor) was at breakfast and the queue for coffee, there were 5 machines and of which they were never all working and there was always a queue of 5/6 people at each machine and the cups were very small! At other hotels I’ve stayed at there are coffee pots available for the table or being poured by the waiting staff as well as coffee machines, as not everyone wants a latte or cappuccino. As I say it is a minor comment and didn’t affect the holiday.

Beautiful big clean room, worth getting the sea view rooms. Good shower and hairdryer and nice Loccitane products in the room. Cleaning staff very efficient and quick with cleaning our rooms. Very comfortable bed! Excellent breakfast with great choice, loved the egg station where you can get fried eggs or an omelette cooked up fresh. Nice touch having sparkling wine complimentary in the buffet breakfast- bucks fizz every morning if you want. Plenty of restaurants to choose from- good Buffett available in the terrace Resteraunt every night which was reasonable priced- 35 euro . Beautiful rooftop pool with amazing views! Considering it's a 5 star hotel there should be water available in the rooms however saying this staff did fill up our bottles when needed. Some large spillage stains on the carpet in our room which wasn't appealing to look at. Didn't find reception staff very informative checking in, didn't explain very well about all the facilities, timings for breakfast or where the bus stop is located - all this would have been useful without having to ask each time. People saving sunbeds but this probably happens everywhere, staff should crack down on removing their towels from the subbed within a hour as we saw plenty of times where towels weren't removed after no one being there for an hour. No nearby shop so you're stuck with high prices for snacks in the hotel.

Fantastic staff who went above and beyond to meet needs, great spacious spotless rooms of high standard, lots of different areas in hotel complex to explore and enjoy the days in different pools and with different views, lovely walks along coastline, super scenic place that’s really well maintained

Breakfast rammed too many guests from its different hotels into one small area. Staff were efficient as possible but it was a high stress environment queuing for food and coffee that was of poor quality with cheap ingredients, definitely not a 5* breakfast. This was the biggest area that they should try to resolve for guests. The hotel is in quite a remote part where you do have to walk a fair distance to get to a shop/supermarket/ other restaurants. Other option is paying hotel’s very high prices for drinks throughout day.
