the location is fantastic. the staff very friendly. good international and diverse guests. staying in an authentic traditional property which used to be an inn. it had original features like the old ceramic chimneys and porcelain heaters (as a feature). good communal space (kitchen).

the mattress was old and not very comfortable. some of the guests unfortunately lacked shared space etiquette and no respect for other room mates by making noise or arriving very late and leaving very early and generally being loud and inconsiderate. my suggestion is not to check in anyone after midnight and until 7am in the morning!

The location is fantastic, I had a conference at the University of Helsinki for three days, but I also stayed two more days and went out into the city, and the main station is very easily accessible from there on foot, or if your luggage is heavy, with the trams. The kitchen seems very functional and well equipped, although I didn't have that much time to cook, but it's also a nice common area! The room was decent (5 people mixed dorm), very clean, and didn't feel overcrowded to me. My mattress could have been newer, it had lost a bit of its support. Not the most lively hostel I've stayed at, but since I was there for work, I didn't mind it being quiet in the rooms and hallways. However, they had a nice list of activities for the week, which took place in bars and venues in the area, plus a Whatsapp group so you can connect with other guests. I would have loved to try those out if I'd stayed longer, or if I get the chance to visit again.

It's expensive, but Helsinki is expensive in general.

I arrived early and asked the staff to store my luggage which was no problem at all. In general, the staff seemed enthusiastic. I loved the kitchen! It was exceptionally clean and well organised, it was absolutely no issue to find things and use the equipment. It seems at first that 4 showers are not enough but the showers were all spacious and I did not see any people waiting. The location is super central, 15 min walking distance to the central station. The building is old and well looked after with beautiful interior (pictures from 1909 in Helsinki, I really liked these details!), tye dorms were spacious and included a sink, little lockers and a coat rack. All beds had a plug close by.

Very beautiful apartments, especially the northern modern style kitchen with beautiful oven. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Nice breakfast, but good for the first time. Some free food and different things. A wide range of guests from different countries :)

The location was perfect! Very convenient and I could visit most parts of the city just by walking. The kitchen and bathroom was very clean. It was a really nice common area. My room (4 bed) was great. Super clean and people were so nice. I had an amazing time, and it was my first hostel experience, so it exceeded my expectations.

Honestly, everything was great. Maybe the size of the single toilet room was not good (very tiny), but I didn't use it anyway, because the shower room also have a toilet. They have a lot of stairs, so if you bring a lot of luggage (which was not my case), you may have some difficulties going up.

Very clean hostel, with super comfy beds, super central, and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

They were renovating/doing some construction work in one of the bathrooms so there was only one shower available for all the guests. It wasn't really a problem for me though.

Great location, in the city center. Comfy bed, big kitchen with free tea. Common area with puzzle and some games. Showers and toilets were very clean, cleaned every day and hand towel was also changed every day. Free shower gel in every bathroom.

The rooms are on third floor without a lift and with high stairs in the staircase. It was extremely hot in the room even during the night. There was some air machine in the room, but it did not make a big difference. Real air conditioning would be very welcome.

Great location and value for money. I find it really affordable considering the location. There is a fully functional kitchen and you can cook your food from scratch if you want. Free coffee and tea, sometimes milk also. The food are marked by room and check out date. Any leftovers after the owners check out, it moves to the free section. The staff are really friendly and helpful. You can leave your stuff before and after check out, there is always staff 24/7. Highly recommended and will stay here again.

The shower and toilet can get crowded during early evenings and mornings. My room had a sink so it was helpful for just washing hands and face and brushing teeth. Room doesn't have air-conditioning. You have to open window during the summer, and it gets loud sometimes from the people partying nearby and from cars.

It is a hostel on the smaller side but it uses space masterfully. Being an old building adds coziness and the personnel were some of the friendliest I ever encountered, despite them having to deal with some slightly weird customers. The bonus is the decent-sized kitchen. It is the classic hostel experience, nothing fancy, yet perfectly clean and excellent to meet people in a relaxed setting. Could not be in a more central location either with the major important landmarks no more than 15 minutes away.

Maybe just a bit of noise proofing on the doors to take it to the next level.

HDP is in a prime location close to everything, a really nice hostel with high ceiling & huge windows, very clean and it’s most important asset - its amazing staff, who kept the facility spic & span everyday, always ready to help with my inquiries & requests coupled with their beautiful smiles and my 3-bed room was special! It sure was a beautiful home away from home!!! Thanks a million Tehri, Marjot, Annika, Elisa, Rosa, Retta & Robert, for making my Helsinki experience that much more memorable!!! Hope to see you all again the next time am in town!!!

3 floors of stairs; no lift/elevator. However, it sure was a great daily exercise for me, but not my the 23 kg luggage I had to lug up😩🥵
