The location is perfect. Great view from my window: the port and the fort. The toilet paper is of great quality (This is important, of course!). The duvet is very comfortable. Everything is astonishingly clean. I can see that the hotel owner has made great efforts to provide good experience with limited facilities.

There are things that can hardly be improved given the historic nature of the building itself, such as the poor sound insulation, the material and design of doors, the confusing locks, .etc. The old air conditioner makes big noises when heating, and yet the effect of heating is not very good. It won't be a problem in most of the time of the year, but in winter, it is. Also in winter the terrace is bitterly cold, so no one can actually sit there and enjoy, though the view is still great.

Cute central accommodation, perfect for a solo female traveller. Not too fancy, but enjoyable for a couple of days. Clean and tidy. Nearby shops &restaurants (who in winter close very early). Very nice rooftop with the best view of the harbor. The room was small, but clean and comfy. Water pressure great, heating with the air conditioner. Tv with a couple french stations, nothing in english. Free toiletries and they changed towels every day. Very clean, comfy bed, which I liked a lot, no smells. Friendly staff, the ladies at the reception were nice and spoke good english. Great breakfast for only 10 Euro.

Didn’t like key system. You receive your key only after check in hour, although I arrived a half hour earlier. It’s an old fashioned key to close and open the door. The doors are loud, hearing other neighbors all the time. The hotel asks you to always leave the key at the reception when you leave, and the main entrance door will be closed after 20:00, when you receive a special code to enter the building.

The rooftop view is spectacular, and this hotel is steps from the gorgeous old port where there is plenty of dining and drinking options as well as great people watching. It's also within easy walking distance to many points of interest. Everyone at the hotel was very gracious, and they speak multiple languages. The receptionists kindly provided local information whenever I requested. The hotel was very quiet, excellent for a good night's sleep. The wakeup call service was very reliable. The breakfast room is sunny and pretty. Room cleaning was above par. Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Hermes.

The hotel is literally a half block form the water. Although our room did not have a direct view of the Port, all we had to do was head to the roof, and there it was! The location was excellent with three bakeries, dozens of restaurants and shops steps away. The staff were all great and appreciated so much the young transplant from England who spoke English.

Shower was small and the partial door was not enough to keep water from spilling out. Understand it is a European thing but it was not comfortable

Location is perfect, right on the old port. I went to the rooftop for sunrise, where it could be a great spot to watch the sunset as well. The staff was very helpful when I asked for hot water. She said, she can get hot water for me anytime. The breakfast room is nicely decorated, and there's a good variety of food, fresh fruits. And I have made orange juices myself there.

No problem at all, although the check-in could be a little better, probably due to housekeeping issue. The receptionist was friendly. I arrived at 2:30pm, but had to drop off the luggage first and waited 30 minutes for their official check-in time 3:00pm when the room was ready just on time.

The stay at the Hermés Hotel was very pleasant. I would like to highlight the kindness and friendliness of the reception staff, especially a Portuguese employee whose name I unfortunately cannot remember. The location of the establishment is perfect, 200 meters from a subway exit, and dozens of meters from a bus stop to the basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, the exit of the tourist train, or the exits of the boats to the Calanques or the If Island. Likewise, it is also very close to the Panier and the most interesting monuments and museums (Mucem, Fort de Saint Jean, etc). I did not have breakfast at the hotel, as I preferred to have breakfast at the Fournil de La Loge, practically across the street. The view from the rooftop and window onto the harbor is a bonus. I would recommend the hotel to other guests and if I ever return to Marseille, I would be happy to use it again.

The bathroom is a little cramped.

Location was perfect for our needs. We loved the rooftop bar, the view is stunning. When we were stranded in Marseille, they found a way to accommodate us even without a reservation. The first room we had was bigger than the second, but both were good.

The first room was incredibly warm and hard to regulate the temperature, but we weren't in the room much so it didn't affect us much.

Staff were very friendly. The location was brilliant. Breakfast was great, especially being able to eat at the roof top with the view of the port! They also offered parking at a price and this was convenient as we couldn’t find parking around the hotel

There was no fridge in the room. I didn’t specifically look for the availability of a fridge when booking but it’s something I expect in a hotel room. It wasn’t a major problem

This hotel has an excellent location at the old port. Rooms are standard and clean. The best of this hotel is the rooftop bar with a splendid view of the old port and the church Notre Dame de la Garde on the hill top. Many restaurants are around the corner. The metro is at the old port with a quick connection to the Station Marseille Saint Charles.

Location , location , location ! That explains all. Add friendly and helpful staff and a amazing rooftop terrace that you can bring your breakfast and appreciate a beautiful port of marseille view . Than you forget the tiny bedrooms, the walls and the stairs . Plus , there’s a metro line 5 minutes walk from the train station !!!!

Breakfast needs variety!!!
