The location of the hotel was excellent. Overall, the facilities, the breakfast and the staff were of the highest order. However, the highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by one of the staff at the front desk, Ines. There was a strong sewerage odour emanating from the bathroom. Despite requests to have it attended to, it appears the only solution was for a staff member(s) to open the window during the day whilst I was away. Alas, the odour was there in the evenings when I returned. When I brought this issue up with Ines, she promptly came to the room to personally investigate further. Taken aback by the stench, she unreservedly offered another room and within minutes I was transferred. Her polite, friendly, and professional demeanour, quickly erased the negative experiences I had up till this time. She should be commended for her exemplary service.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The view from our room was amazing as we were on the top floor looking towards the port. We had requested a view from our room and they did not disappoint.

The photos on booking.com showed a nespresso machine in the bedrooms but it was only the usual kettle and instant coffee provided (when I checked the hotels own website it only states hot drink making facilities) The corridor carpets could do with a vacuum and the bathroom floor & walls in the bedroom could do with being washed but not so bad that you couldn't use them. I would imagine it is down to difficulty in getting staff in the industry. I didn't complain as it didn't impact our stay enough.

Room was clean and staff was friendly. I felt the prices in the bar were a little overpriced for basic drinks like coffee However there are plenty of places within walking distance to eat and drink. It's a short walk to the old port and le panier area and if you don't have lots of luggage to carry then you can also walk from the railway station

The rooms are comfy, the breakfast is really good, fresh and French style. The wi-fi connection was good. The location is close to the main street, to the port and shopping mall, very convenient.

I had a hard time obtaining an ironing machine. The staff told me just that they didn't have one and I had to insist and raise my voice until I managed to obtain at least the premises for obtaining one. I eventually got one, but too difficult for a business hotel where it was obvious people needed to iron their clothes.

This is a great location, but a bit creepy at night. We had no issues . We walked everywhere. Hotel was comforable

We were a bit disappointed with the fitness center, There are no free weights. We also had 1 night staff who didn't seem to want to help us figure out the best way to the airport in the middle of the night. He was a bit rude. But we figured things without him.

Location is pristine, big wide room, super comfortable giant bed, excellent TV, great bathroom, impeccable isolation

Some carpets are a bit faded and the freeze furniture is not integrated with the room. But these are just nitty picky things, the hotel can easily upgrade in a future redecoration. The location and the ample space in Marseille will be hard to beaten, specially in this price range

The hotel has a modern feel and the room was spacious. It's also well located near the Old Port of Marseille. You get the advantages of being in the center: safe area, plenty of transportation, without the noise of the centre. The buffet breakfast has a lot to choose from.

Although the breakfast was good, we thought it was overpriced.

Everything from location to value for money to staff knowledge and helpfulness. Little wonder Mercure has such a well-deserved reputation. We'd happily stay here again, and would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone heading to Marseille.

Great breakfast. Great location. Very clean and comfortable bed. Would have enjoyed having an outdoor area available. Staff were cheerful, helpful and very welcoming.

The surrounding area is dirty and smells like urine and more... it is quite safe but not a good place to have a walk. The tariff per night is expensive
