The bed was very confortable and the room very clean. All the forniture were almost new. I appreciated the soap dispensers and the plastic free choice about courtesy set (there wasn't, and it's ok!).

I love animals but the presence of a cat in the breakfast room can be a problem for somebody. My boss is allergic so we decided to have breakfast outside.

The hotel is in a fabulous location, right on major S-bahn. and bus routes and near crucial stops. The hotel was lovely, and my room was absolutely palatial with a lovely view of the entrance to the Museum für Naturkunde across the street. I also found it was an easy 20 min walk to many locations aI wished to visit. The high-quality coffee machine outside the lobby provided an easy morning espresso, and in the afternoons ver nice pastries were available as a snack. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff, fluent in multiple languages made the stay very easy.

some pastries in the morning would have been fun

Beautiful old building with a lot of character. Everywhere was very clean and the inner courtyard was so peaceful despite the hotel being on a major road. The location is excellent as it’s a 15 minute walk from the Berlin Hauptbahnhof and well connected with trams and buses too. Also within walking distance of the Reichstag. The breakfast was in a small space but still managed to have a wide variety of items. The breakfast staff very quickly restocked any items that were finished. Lovely calm atmosphere too and quiet at night. We had a coffee machine and kettle in our room which I like. Some rooms don’t have a lift so if that’s an essential I recommend checking first.

I didn’t realise that there wasn’t 24 hour reception as I usually have that added to my filters.

Garden Living and relaxing This has been one of the most welcoming and relaxing hotels we have stayed in - due a great amount to the staff ( Lisa - who has worked here since the hotel opened 10 years ago; Jessica, on reception, and Julia ( whose freshly prepared beautifully arranged plates of perfectly ripe fruit deserve a mention, as well as the rest of the varied and tasty continental breakfast). One can eat breakfast inside - but on warm days it is lovely to sit in the courtyard which has a wonderful array of plants and shrubs, listening to the gentle flow of water through fountains. Some other reviewers were unhappy that there is a cat around - I did not find the cat intrusive at all ( I have a slight allergy to cats - but my eyes did not get sore - the place is very clean and did not smell of the cat at all while we were there). Check in after 4pm at weekends is done via a key safe (as reception closes at 4 pm) which was easy to use. During the week reception hours are much later - so we were able to leave our luggage at Garden Living before catching the sleeper train to Sweden. There is free tea and coffee 24/7 in the lobby ( and other beverages for a fee). Our room was clean and beautifully decorated - with interesting art on the walls. Our balcony overlooked the garden which was very tranquil. We had a fridge and small cooking area ( we didn't use this - but if we had stayed longer it would have been useful). On our last day- while our luggage was being stored - I needed to go back to the hotel to mend a tear in my clothes. Jessica had a full sewing kit ( not one of the tiny ones hotel's usually give out) with good quality needles, thread and scissors which I could borrow.  Sitting in the courtyard mending while drinking a cup of tea I relaxed - yes, it was stressful to rip something on holiday, but it was a bonus to sit in such a beautiful place again!

I liked everything!

October 2022

I stayed here for 5 nights in between a business trip in Berlin and attending a family event in Hannover, and it was the perfect hotel to have some solo time to rest, recover, and still enjoy Berlin. The room was more like an apartment, with a beautiful four-poster bed, a lovely desk area for me to work, and a separate kitchenette and seating area. The balcony looking into the courtyard was wonderful. I was able to get work done, make small meals so I wasn't always eating out, and get some much-needed rest in the middle of a 3-week trip. The kind front desk staff and resident hotel cats were a lovely bonus. I'm so glad I decided to splurge just a bit and stay in such comfortable, lovely accommodations.

I really didn't have any issues whatsoever. I had the ideal stay.

The cats :) The location is very good - close to central train station (20min walking) and close to Island Museum (25min walking) and across the street is the Museum of Natual History. Nearby (10min walk) various nice places for breakfast ("Meet me half way" and "Nomad" both excellent - recommend reservation) Room was cleaned and quiet even if facing the street. The interior garden is a nice place to relax after visiting the city. And again the cats.... they are adorable and very friendly.

Spacious room. Very tidy. Room was looking better than on the photos. Also earlier check-in was great and unexpected surprise! Hotel staff plays fair and informs on possible noises if you have the room windows next to busy street as trams are noisy at night. In our case no problem with sleeping. If you prefer sleeping with the open windows, I would advice then the garden view rooms.

After check-out no option to leave the car 1.5 hour longer on the parking , despite the fact that at least 5 places were not occupied. We travel a lot and the situation like this happened for the first time for many years, if ever. :). Nevertheless that forced us to visit other places in Berlin what finally was great. As mentioned earlier earlier check-in was possible, so really no reason to complain. Just to inform the other guests, to check parking option with reception in order to avoid difficulties.

Beautiful and large rooms. Relaxing balcony. Beautiful garden. Great location with great transit connections. Helpful staff. Excellent cleanliness. Excellent bathroom.

Wifi worked very well in front room, not well in back room (where the desk is!). It would have been nice to have a dish drainer next to the sink -- there was no good way to dry dishes. It would have been nice to have an armchair in the bedroom. Only full German breakfast was available, at a proportional price. It would have been nice to have a continental breakfast option (coffee and toast/pastry) at a lower price.

The Garden Living is in a fabulous location, easy to see all the sites in the centre and near the public traffic stations (S+U bahn). We had nice room with very comfy bed. The room was a little bit small with small balcony but with wonderful view to the hotel garden - it was lovely. We took breakfast in the garden, which was so peaceful, especially with the cat "guards". It gave us the "family atmosphere" all the time. The facilities were excellent - in a common room there was a small kitchen provided so we could store fresh foods for dinner. We used the parking as well, it was few meters from hotel but for most of the time, the car was in shadow - we appreciated that especially in very warm days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and come back. Nelíbilo se · Nothing of note

We were missing a vanity kit or body lotion but nearby was Rossmann store so we bought it there.

The heaven room facing the garden was lovely, very spacious and comfortable and stylish. The location is excellent, 20 mins walk from Hauptbahnhof, 3 mins walk from the underground, very central and yet a garden oasis at the rear of the hotel to enjoy a relaxing breakfast. Eat walk to many restaurants and points of interest

We originally booked a standard room on the road side not realising that it would be so noisy . We were lucky to be able to change to a much better room after the first night which was well worth the extra 20 euros/ night. I would definitely recommend visitors who find sleeping difficult with traffic noise to book a garden facing room
