The location was very convenient, in the center of Berlin, where you could reach a lot of tourist objects and restaurants on foot. There was an underground station two blocks from the hotel, which was very convenient if we wanted to go further. I liked the hotel a lot- it is such an atmospheric place, with several leisure spaces, pictures on walls etc. Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt was also within a walking distance. We liked the room size (for 3 people)- it was spacious and well designed, with two separate areas. I particularly liked that it had a balcony, although we did not ask for it specifically. To my joy, there was a coffee machine in the room! Not just a kettle, but a real coffee machine producing a decent espresso in the morning. I am thinking to come back, if I ever visit Berlin again.

The breakfast was really good, with a lot of choice on offer. But I think 25 euro for breakfast was a bit too much. Other than that, I cannot think of any flaws.

The Hotel is located very close to Check Point Charlie and a metro as well as buses. Is also very close to many of the attractions. Breakfast was nice but felt it missed more options considering the price. Rooms are clean and wide but with hardly amenities in the bathroom. We had two rooms but somehow the complimentary mini bar was only for one room and all though we requested rooms together we were not that close.

The Hotel staff was not very kind or warm. All though we had two rooms booked check in took longer as I had to inform them that I had booked two rooms and had to pay twice instead of in one go. This is supposed to be their job not mine. Hardly smiles from the Reception when you came in and out and even when we asked for breakfast the person who recieved us in the Restaurant was rude, no smile, no kindness and asked me to answer three times the same question. Later she just came and picked the dishes with no smile. Staff looked tired and exhausted instead of being kind and open as is supposed to be the job of the people working in Hotels. No one said good bye when I said thank you for the stay. It may be 4 stars but the service is far from that throughout the Hotel.

Mercure Checkpoint Charlie exceeded all expectations during my recent stay in Berlin. We booked a room for 3 people and got a very big room. Super spacious and very quiet as it did not face the road. The bathroom was new and clean and shampoo, gel and conditioner was available. We also received a welcome drink of our choice for free, which was a really nice surprise. The hotel seems to be hosting professional and business guests and the staff is welcoming, helpful and professional. One of the big advantages staying is this hotel is the location, it is less then 5 minutes walking distance from Checkpoint Charlie.

Everyting was fine

The location was perfect for us. It's a 5 minute walk to the U6-U2 stop Stadtmitte, and the Checkpoint Charlie site is also only 5 minutes walk around the corner. There were also some nice restaurants and general gathering places nearby. The facilities were great for us. We had plenty of room to unpack and relax in the room for a few days. The shower has good pressure and temperature, and you can listen to the TV in the bathroom through overhead speakers. The staff were helpful and friendly. We called to get an additional pillow and bathrobes, which they brought straight to the room within 30 minutes. We were very happy with our stay and would happily stay again.

We found the AC to be weak. We had it set at 18c, but that felt like it wasn't working, so we bumped it down to 15c. This had a normal room temperature, which we could live with. Perhaps the filter needs changing?

The location is very convenient to the U-bahn, restaurants, and - of course - Checkpoint Charlie. The location was also quiet at night and that contributed to rest.

Temperature control was difficult. The room has a thermostat that gives the appearance of being able to cool the room but it just put out warm air. (Heat is on a separate system under the windows.) Luckily the windows open but that complicates temperature moderation when closing the blinds to block out street lights at night.

Perfect central location. Only a short walk to the next tube station. A very nice, clean and comfortable hotel, with pleasant, easy going atmosphere. Great breakfast and very helpful staff. Lovely bar with yummy mulled wine and many other little areas to enjoy while in the hotel. Very quiet. We liked also the fact that the toilet in our room was separate from the bathroom.

The bed was hard for both of us, which is very unusual. But the hotel management and the maintenance staff made a big effort to fix the problem, even though it was during Christmas.

This is my third time staying at the hotel since 2012. It is in a great, convenient location close to checkpoint Charlie and the u-bahn, with a shop nearby and places to eat within walking distance. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was very big, with a nice modern bathroom. Very quiet so we were not disturbed.

The room has not been decorated in at least 12 years as it was the same decor the first time I visited. Not many channels on the TV - a smart TV would be good in a 4* hotel.

Staff is absolutely amazing! Very clean and very spacious rooms. We have 2 bedrooms apartment, and it was huge! 2 adults 2 teens and a kid were absolutely comfortable. Location is pretty central too … less than 10 minutes walk to Mall of Berlin, plenty of cafes and eating options around.

We didn’t find anything bad, but if I have to choose one, I guess the breakfast was quite expensive 25€ per person I think is quite outrageous.

We got the room on the fifth floor, with windows toward inside small, quiet and very green yard. The room was huge, with two windows on each side and nice balcony in the middle. Toilet and bathroom are separated. We got smal present during check in: six drinks and two snaks fron the lobby frige. The room was very clean during the entire stay. Coffee and tea were refilled every day. In addition, it located 5 minutes walking from metro station (U2/U6), and from bus no. 200 (that takes you right to Alexanderplatz)

There really wasn't enough lighting in the evening. At least twice the maid came into the room early in the morning before we left the room. And on our last day at the hotel, the maid forgot to leave towels and pour coffee/tea, I had to go to the reception.
