Ive been to many guest houses similar to 101 Guesthouse - all over the world in Australia, Japan, Singapore... 101 guesthouse standard will be on par with the others in the other cities. From my perspective it meets all my expectation of a no frills hotel with all the requirements of a homely zone - it is very clean, tidy and comfortable -

Though it is not a bad thing - wifi was very weak in the room. Had to sit in the pantry to get strong signal. Internet there is strong and fast for Zoom business calls and Genshin Impact games. ; OOKLA speed: 24.98Mbps / 16mpbs

The cost of stay relative to other places in Iceland is excellent value. I had a private room with sink, cupboard, desk and bed - all that you need when travelling alone and expecting to spend most of your time outside the hotel. The shared bathroom was close by, kept clean, and had an excellent shower. I was very much left to my own devices to come and go as I please. There was a small kitchen for prepping meals, which is great in a city where eating out is so pricey. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is round the corner from a bus interchange and supermarket, making further travel and food easy to find. The popular parts of the city centre start from just across the road and all of the city centre itself is accessible inside of a 40min walk, which is ideal if you don't have transport.

Everything about the guesthouse was great and met my expectation. Anything I had a problem with was not the fault of the guesthouse and are things to be expected when staying in a city centre (e.g. early morning delivery trucks and revellers making their way home). Just bring some earplugs and an eye mask.

Location was great. Right across from the pick up point for all tours. Next to public transport hub ( which we used) right by the street where all the shops and restaurants are. The big church is within walking distance. The front desk is super helpful, we left our luggage and went to explore until check in. I had a private bathroom and everything was great. My room had a view of the city. The room had a small fridge( convenient since drinks are expensive) we got things from a small local market ( not a chain one) plus the common area has a microwave for all to use. Hairdryer was also in the bathroom. Plus about 3 blocks from the shoreline

Great value for a weeklong stay in Reykjavik; the location is amazing, just minutes away (walking) from central Reykjavik. The room was clean and comfortable, had everything we needed, and the bathrooms were obviously cleaned often. The kitchen was as clean as you can expect a shared kitchen to be; some guests aren't the most thorough at washing up, but it wasn't a problem for us.

Guests often didn't put away washed dishes (so the drainer was overflowing), but that's not the guesthouse's fault! Otherwise, everything was great; we weren't sure what to expect from a 'guesthouse' but turned out to be essentially a nice hostel with private rooms instead of bunkbeds — would recommend!

Clean, well located, good price.

Basic, very clean guesthouse in an ideal downtown location for exploring Reykjavik or going on tours. Airport bus outside the door. Clean communal area with facilities for cooking and storing food. Small bedroom with a basin, hanging space and bedside lights had all we required. Shared toilets and shower room very clean and there were never queues. Staff friendly and helpful. Being on the 4th floor it was pretty quiet. Many fancier more expensive places to stay in the city but we found this good value for the price.

Not the fault of the guesthouse that a noisy boy racer revved his car outside at midnight

Fantastic location in the heart of Reykjavik. Great and clear communication from the hotel. Although we didn't have the opportunity to avail ourselves, really appreciated the option to have access to a kitchen. Very clean and decent room made for a great stay.

Only (minor) gripe was that there was not any parking associated with the hotel as indicated in the description. On the other hand it was not difficult to unload and load our stuff out front and the staff let us know that there was free overnight parking available on the neighborhood streets until 9 a.m. We had no problems finding a spot nearby.

For a hostel, it's great! Good beds with nice bed linen in a simple but nice room; enough shared toilets (clean & private); a clean, spacious kitchen; very helpful and friendly staff with good recommendations. The location is very central and handy, buses just across the street and a 15 minute walk to the bus terminal (if you want to take the 55 to the airport).

Two little details: The shower was a bit shaky and there was only one in our side (maybe more elsewhere?). It would have been great to have a coffee vending machine (or just coffee available in the kitchen) since we left at 6am for the airport and everything was closed.

We booked a private room with a private bathroom for one night. It was really cozy, cute and clean. The bathroom was fully equipped and there was tea, boiler and a small fridge in the room 😊 We really enjoyed our stay at this Guesthouse, the guy at the reception was kind and the check-in was easy. We surely suggest it and for sure we would stay there again! It's one of the cheapest guesthouses in Reykjavík and it's quality is not less than a more expensive hotel.

Just a small smudge on the quilts.. It was a previous dirt, it wasn't dirty, just a little bit disgusting 😅

It was the perfect place for a nights stop in Reykjavik. Not a place you want to hang around the room the whole day, everything is quite basic - but for us it worked perfectly fine since we were out in the city the whole day and needed a place to stay preferably quite central. And the location was great, everything was nice and clean. Worked well for a family with younger kids. Easy check in and check out, the host/receptionist super friendly! Recommend it!

The main kitchen is quite small and the bathrooms very standard - but it worked for us!
