The friendly and professional staff. Charming room, comfortable beds, nice linens, and a lovely shower. The bath products provided were of nice quality. Our room was clean (although not brand new). We appreciated the bonus wine and chocolates in our room. The location was quiet, and after spending a day in the wonderful but busy city It, we were grateful for our refuge in Contarf. It was also wonderful to walk to the seaside and along the path, which to a nearby village. My husband went running along the long seawall.. Tip: order taxis in advance for a set pick up time, as it can take up to 10 minutes. Food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the homemade soups and the Thai curry. We absolutely loved our stay at the Clontarf Castle Hotel. It is an elegant establishment.

Nothing comes to mind.

We stayed for the first three nights of our two weeks in Ireland. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was pretty small, but it was comfortable. We had breakfast included and it was excellent with plenty of choices, however the coffee was inconsistent. The bedrooms didn't feel very castle like, it felt like you were in a new hotel, but it was still lovely. It was about a 15 minute taxi ride to Dublin city, but we knew that ahead of time and didn't mind the drive. One of the nicest things was having tea in the lobby, late one evening.

I don't know what really could have been better. Honestly, probably just the coffee and that's pretty low on our requirement list for a place to stay. We would absolutely stay here again.

Stunning hotel full of history, well designed and well kept in public areas, art everywhere on the walls and great customer service from FOH staff.

For a four-star hotel, there’s a few improvements due: carpet in corridors is looking tired and even threadbare on stair edges, shower cubicles mouldy in grout areas and around the enclosures, places where wallpaper needs replaced. While we were there, windows were being replaced and the insides were just left with expanding foam and torn wallpaper at the window frames. Not entirely what I expect for 350 a night for a standard double room. Sorry if this sounds fussy! Also, when we checked in there were clumps of black hair still in the shower cubicle but on bringing this to reception’s attention they did give us complimentary drinks but the hair still wasn’t removed!

The castle is magnificent. The staff are professional and friendly. Parking is on site and easy. Understandably the castle is a huge wedding venue. We were there Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Our room was located above the reception room. We did hear the party noise. The friends we travelled with had a room on the other side of the building and didn't hear a thing! We had a prob. It was resolved quickly and efficiently. We would stay here again. Loved it.

Nothing that you and I could change. It's lovely to see and hear people enjoying themselves. When we come back wed ask for a room not above or near the party venue.

Rooms Excellent spotlessly clean & well prepared Breakfast Excellent whole experience just as we remembered from previous visit Hotel Excellent stunning Staff Excellent very helpful & pleasant

Upon arrival we were told rooms were not ready so would have to wait which was fine but only table available still had crockery & a half empty packet of Doughnuts on it this remained with us for the half a hour we waited 2 rooms of the 3 were then handed over we had to wait for the 3rd another 25 minutes because of this we let the others have the rooms that were ready meaning we didn't have the room we were named on this caused confusion upon checking out

Beautiful hotel with brilliant staff. Breakfast was excellent. Great bar and not greatly overpriced, cocktails seemed to be very popular. Front desk friendly and efficient, bar staff were really good and the cleaning staff were always polite and friendly. A great blend of a historic location brought up to modern expectations whilst retaining its charm.

For some, the rooms might be on the small side for the going rate but they are tastefully decorated with all the amenities you would need with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. Room was spotlessly clean on arrival.

Due to time zone changes, we were only here for a short will. The room was small but beautiful. The furniture had a vintage feel and it was super comfy. I didn't sleep long, but my nap was great in the bed. The bathroom was super clean and I loved the amenities. The hotel staff was kind and breakfast was great!!!! The buffet had a great variety of options and everything was delicious! You definitely feel like you are in a castle when you are walking the property. It seemed a bit far away from things we wanted to do, but we just caught a can. Overall, I would definitely stay again.

I can't think of anything I did not like about my stay.

We absolutely loved the castle itself! So elegant and special... definately felt like royalty staying here. Breakfast was amazing, lots of choice and very tasty! Staff were second to none, all very helpful and friendly.

Only one critisism and that is that the walls in our room were paper thin! We got woken up at 2am by the people in our neighbouring room talking and we could hear every word! They were not shouting or being particularly loud but we could hear them clearly and so could not sleep until they did

If you are reading the reviews because you are not sure where you want to stay, this is the sign that you need to book. Working in the industry myself, I am very critical of reviews. I was completely charmed by the Clontarf Castle Hotel. The castle is wonderful, but the decor & design simply leaves you speechless! Impeccable attention to detail and plenty of Christmas decorations. The lobby is really the highlight of the hotel: banners, fireplace and armours ... still not convinced? The staff is really nice and helpful and ready to help you with anything you need. I must mention the Knights Bar, delicious food and staff! I dined in front of the old fireplace in a room full of paintings ... a dream! The rooms are really nice, clean and cosy. Extra points for the shower, very comfortable. Thanks to all the staff, I felt like a real life princess !

I loved everything about this hotel. It was by far the best hotel I’ve stayed in. Not only is the building itself gorgeous with endless history, but also the staff were brilliant and accommodating. The rooms were gorgeous and comfy; a good size too. The bar was brilliant and you could just sit there all day and stare at the walls and ceilings. The bar staff were also brilliant and helpful beyond belief. I didn’t want to leave this hotel and I’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely nothing!
