Check in was easy and friendly. The bar is small and cosy and the dining room is shaped and laid out in a way that you have plenty room to yourselves while chatting over a meal. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed a few walks around. The pergola type structure near the house is stunning.

Just a few small things like young staff could perhaps do with a little more training in the overall serving of meals. Get someone to go around and check lampshades and cobwebs. Nothing that would stop us returning but things that would make the house more like it should be.

The rooms were beautiful and large Hotel and grounds were wonderful Art work around hotel great Nice bar and staff lovely

Thought food was under par for 50 euro each for evening meal and breakfast was just ok. Also only bubbly available was a cheap tasting prosecco or cheapest champagne was 90 euros Would have liked to be able to make a cup of tea in our room but no facilities

What a gem of a hotel. Beautiful historic manor house and gardens . We booked an evening meal and the complete experience was wonderful from the waiting staff to the food . We found the complete dining experience exceptional and good value for money. Big spacious bedroom and bathroom. All in all a unique stay in a manor house and great value for money.

Would have been great when we arrived if the receptionist had explained the layout of the hotel etc , where the bar , restaurant was etc. It is such a historic building I would also have liked to have found out a bit more about the history of it. Whilst our room was huge , I did feel that it was missing something . The room just didn't deliver on the "Wow" factor that you get when you pull up to the hotel. I felt it needed the finishing touches of an interior designer maybe. Also the room had no tea/coffee making facilities.

Rooms are very good, beds are comfortable. The hotel was quite as not many rooms were occupied and I liked it. The atmosphere is very good - comfortable sofas, fireplaces with fire on, nice and light music and very friendly staff. Dinner was good. I really enjoyed sea & fields view from my window.

Breakfast could be more reach. Suggestion: to have bathrobes in the room.

Gorgeous house, beautifully decorated, lovely comfortable rooms and great bathroom. Our room had a lovely view. We ate breakfast and 2 dinners in the restaurant and loved that we were seated at the same table each time in such a beautiful room. Staff were lovely and very attentive. We had our vegan daughter with us and dishes for the evening meals were adapted for her. Even the printed breakfast menu had a vegan Irish breakfast that she thoroughly enjoyed. Location was perfect as we are from Australia and were catching up with our daughter who lives in New York.

There was nothing to dislike.

The garden and grounds are lovely. The staff were very responsive when we remarked about the overwhelming smell of gloss paint in the room, and offered us an alternative.

The restaurant offering was too limited for us. There was a fixed 3-course menu for 45 euros. This might have been a reasonable price for the 3-courses but if you are only wanting a main course appears a little steep.

We liked the historic building and the interior. The staff was very friendly and our four poster bedroom was super spacious. Great view from the top window/rooms.

I don‘t know if the fire alarm sets off regularly, as we were told it is quite sensitive. It rang 2x in the morning, first time at 7 AM. We would just like to mention this, but we would stay here for sure again.

We’ve been here several times before but with all that’s happened over the last 2 years you have no idea what things will be like. Let me tell you this hotel has invested for the next 10 years, it already has a wealth of history, you do have to appreciate this isn’t a modern purpose built hotel. It has character, charm and tradition. You have to understand that every room will be different but each has something that will change you will take away with you and grow as you will with the experience. Eating at Tinakilly is another experience great flavours, excellent wine list and not exorbitantly priced. Great place.

Homely charm and friendly service

Lovely historic house hotel, period furniture, paintings, decor, ,cosy bar and lounge areas with fires Clean and well maintained hotel in nice grounds with views to the sea. Bedroom (four poster room) large, clean, comfortable bed and modern bathroom with bath and good shower. Breakfast quality was excellent with good vegan option.

No tea/coffee facilities in room.- disappointing! No full irish breakfast!! We heard the same comment from another guest, and have seen this mentioned in other reviews - It may sound like a petty complaint but it seems odd when the quality of the food at breakfast was so good. Would highly recommend adding full Irish with egg, sausage, bacon, tomato/beans, mushrooms, hash brown just to make this hotel amazing! Evening dinner was OK but nothing special. Chickpea tagine was bland and uninspiring and steak although tasty and tender was grey and both poorly presented for a hotel of this stature.

An enchanting house in a beautiful location and only a short drive from the hustle and bustle of Dublin! We had room 4 aka Great Western which makes sense having read the history of the house Cpt Halpin! It has hidden walks and perfectly mowed lawns & hedges together with an eclectic mix of furniture and accessories inside.

Unfortunately our water was…cold
