The food was horrible

There should have been lighter options on the menu. Service was also poor for dinner time.The cost seemed really high for the quality offered. We never returned to the restaurant at the hotel for the remainder of our stay.

Hotel Contessa's suite rooms are spacious and we enjoyed being so close to the beautifully lit River walk and close to the nearby Cathedral which had illumination evenings with the history of Texas. The food at the onsite restaurant was good but be sure to make resies. and the hotel is also convenient to a wonderful museum of Western art and sculptures. For a Christmas time trip Contessa did work nicely for our small family utilizing two rooms next to each other. Our son enjoyed the pool and work out area. Dec. 2024

No sign of a concierge ~ the front desk was lightly staffed and seemed not to care too much when we reported a back up in the shower/ bathtub. We requested a quiet room and yet, our rooms were directly across from the elevator which is quite loud(noticed in other reviews too)

The staff were wonderful, from the valet service believe his name was Marco to Savannah at the desk who was so gracious and welcoming. We went to the bar and Amanda made us the best drinks possible. We couldn't ask for better service. We decided to order food which was great. The location is perfect. We liked it so much that we definitely will stay there next month when we come back to San Antonio.

I love Hotel Contessa, especially Francisco. He's very welcoming and recognizes you. He commented that my granddaughters had grown up so fast, and I didn't even think he would remember that they were my granddaughters, considering how busy it is. The smell when you walk into the hotel is amazing. My granddaughters went downstairs to have dinner while we attended a concert. They loved the food, but, considering my granddaughter insisted on paying for it herself rather than charging to the room, she was amazed at the prices but did say it was well worth it. The housekeeping staff is wonderful and polite as well. Thank you for being a part of the memories.

Location was great as we were going to a show at the Aztec. Room was clean and overall comfortable for 3 people with one person sleeping on the couch. Hotel staff was helpful the little I interacted with them. Hotel is also located at a part of the Riverwalk that isn't too noisy or touristy which is nice.

Their extra charges are a bit absurd, like $60 for a late checkout, and $53 for overnight valet (and as far as I know, there's only valet parking there). The room had some wear and tear, like the epoxy paint in the tub was peeling off. The full beds are def noticeably smaller than queen beds if you're thinking of bunking up. Unless you're a couple, it may not be all that comfortable sharing a bed.

Being on the riverwalk, friendliness of the staff. Had breakfast two of our mornings and Fransisco took very good care of us. The Ambler was a pleasure to patronize. The staff was attentive despite having to work during the holidays.

The only issue we had during our stay was the bathroom floor seemed to be neglected. I was sitting doing my morning constitutional and noticed some long black hair on the floor of the bathroom. My wife has red hair and I have white/grey. Not a dealbreaker but one would hope the housekeeping staff would be a bit more fastidious.

We loved being greeted by very friendly valet and bell boy. Once inside we were greeted by friendly staff who offered a welcome drink. Front desk was very accommodating and friendly. The hotel is gorgeous, comfortable and quiet rooms with a great location. Room service was fast. Loved spending the evening at the bar, excellent craft bartenders. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool area on the roof. I would definitely stay again.

The restaurant food definitely missed the mark. 3/5 for taste. Fortunately the hotel is surrounded by other restaurants within walking distance. Minor complaint is coffee in room and room service coffee was weaker then what I usually prefer. Adding nespresso machines would be great!

The location was perfection, directly on the Riverwalk and central to everything. We were able to walk everywhere we went. The hotel is beautiful. Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and the air conditioner worked very well keeping us cool in 103 degree temps. The Keurig and fridge was great to have as we brought our own breakfast and enjoyed it each morning at the tables located outside on the river. The pool was very refreshing even tho the temps were high, it was still cool. Will definitely use this hotel should we return to San Antonio.

The bathroom could have been cleaner. There was hair on the vanity and mildew in the shower. I cleaned a spill from the floor and the towel was brown from wiping water from the floor. No one at the pool could figure out how to turn on the hot tub. We called the front desk, they said they would send someone but we left before anyone arrived.

I loved how clean it was and how attentive and friendly the staff was. Everytime we came across a staff member we were greeted with a smile, a "goodmorning/ how are yall?". It made us feel seem and welcome. There was a little hiccup with the receipt of our stay where we were charged for something we didn't use but we talked to the front desk about it and they handled it without a problem. They were very nice and accommodating. The room was very spacious and comfortable it had a nice brick wall for a little photoshoot moment and a beautiful view of the city the aesthetic of the room was nice as well ,I liked the cute wooden double doors for the restroom it gave it a nice Texas touch. Loved how the AC system in our room actually worked when we changed it to the temperature we liked, we've stayed in a really nice hotel in Vegas before where it said it worked and it didn't which was not very nice considering how hot it was at the time. All in all, it was a superb visit/stay I would 100% recommend this place 10/10 will definitely stay here the next time we visit.

We did go to the pool but we returned to our room because the hot tub was out of order and the pool seemed to be dirty. Of course such things happen it wasn't an inconvenience since the winds were strong it made us a bit too chilly to go in the water anyways.

I loved the location right on the Riverwalk. My room was also very spacious and I liked having a separate bathroom and living room area. I liked the "vibe" in the bar on the ground floor, especially in the evenings after walking around the Riverwalk. I enjoyed the pool on the roof. And the staff were awesome....the gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful and kind, and I even chatted with a couple of the housekeeping staff.

Only the gym. The equipment wasn't too new and the ambience in the gym was pretty sterile (and hot). I went for a jog along the Riverwalk instead, since the gym was not appealing. There was an annoying fire alarm that went off a couple of times while I was staying there, but it was not a terrible inconvenience.
