It's very close to kok tobe gandola Station. Almaty is plagued by traffic jams but this location never has any traffic jams. Now for the hotel itself. Lets face it, it's old but it is well maintained with retro looks from the 80s and 90s. If you ignore this fact then the rooms are quite ok and are neat and clean. The view from the hotel is completely awesome. We were fortunate enough to get on 23rd floor and to be honest the view was awesome. The breakfast was quite nice and multiple items on the menu. We didn't have any other meal over there so cannot comment on it. I will highly recommend any one for this because of the price, the views and the history and legacy that it carries.

It's old but hey that can be it's usp too. Who knows. There is history written all over it.

The newly renovated room with a great view; the awesome location with a vivid ambiente and the subway nearby; the courtesy of the staff and the many available facilities, including cash exchange, a small 7/24 supermarket and a rooftop restaurant.

The breakfast infrastructure is WOEFULLY undersized for a hotel of this size and class. 20+ floors' worth of guests are supposed to fit onto a second-floor gallery, e.g. a floor that does not have the size of a full floor, plus a messy terrace that is constantly under the attack of (very unhygienic) pigeons. One day we've roamed around for 30 minutes – not exaggerating – before we could finally find a table, and then hunted for utensils for 15 more minutes before we could enjoy the distinctly average breakfast experience.

Stayed in Almaty only for 3 nights. We had booked a suite as there were three of us. The room was in one of the more recently upgraded upper floors. It was very spacious and clean. We have heard from one of our fellow travelers (but cannot confirm) that the rooms in the lower levels have a basic soviet style architecture which apparently is not very comfortable. So, booking rooms in the upper floors is recommended. The breakfast was good - no different than any other North American continental breakfast (but probably with less options). The location was central, and we could walk to the cable car going up to Koke Tobe (the recreation area up a small hill with great views of the City). The city was quite safe and we were never had any occasion to feel apprehensive.

The central location had its disadvantages... a music arena is located next to the hotel and every evening a concert is organized. It was very loud and disturbing to early sleepers. The noise does stop at around 10.30 or 10.45 pm, but for those first-time hotel occupants (or those tired and wanting to rest with peace & quiet), it can be quite disconcerting. Some of the modern hotel bathrooms have a half glass partition separating the shower area to the rest of the room. This hotel was the same. It doesn't work! Water flows outside leaving a mess to clean up.

Excellent breakfast selections! Friendly, helpful staff! Early check-in/ late checkout, accommodating flight times. Easy access currency exchange, gift shop, Noodles

Pigeons on outdoor dining deck. Unsanitary. (Have you tried silver streamers, owl/ predator statues, rotating pin wheels, etc, to keep pigeons away?) Lack of Almaty city maps. Rooms need more shelves and clothes hooks. Bass booming from top floor restaurant at night.

We stayed at the hotel a few times - we checked in and out in the same week after our plans changed at short notice. We stayed in a mix of older and newly renovated rooms on different floors, but all were a good size with all the expected facilities and advertised features. Beds are softer than most other beds in the region - we slept well here. The rooms and the hotel is clean and comfortable, and it has some real character and charm too. The breakfast is big and satisfying - it runs from earlier than most hotels - good for early starters. The mountain view is gorgeous and worth the extra fee. The location is fabulous, with shops and some excellent restaurants nearby, and not far to walk to some Almaty sights. The carpark at the hotel makes it very convenient to see Almaty and use the city as a base to explore the surrounding areas. The staff at reception are professional and helpful, most speak multiple languages including English, and they really enhance the experience of staying in this hotel.

Car parking is very crowded and messy at some times during the afternoon and evening - it adds some stress to check-in when you arrive expecting somewhere safe to leave your car.

The staff are nice, the room is clean and we have a good mountain view. The location is also near to many restaurants and walking distance to kok to be. Its a good experience and memory as I left Almaty being engaged😉

The breakfast needs improvement.

Really comfortable beds, good WiFi, nice selection for breakfast, great location.

There is construction on some of the floors and one night drilling went on till 10.30pm despite calling reception and then saying it would finish at 9pm. On the first morning someone entered my room without knocking. Didn’t happen again.

Great location in middle of the Almaty city center. It is close to all entertainment facilities and best restaurants in Almaty ( Navat, noddles, ziyafet, Harissa,..)

The hotel is old and some rooms are outdated as well as some floors are under construction that cause strong noise in nearby rooms. The staff are not helpful. Breakfast is really bad in the hotel and it is crowded
