The staff were very friendly and attentive. Always checking in to see how everything was, if we needed more towels and our bedding cleaned. Excellent service! Also the beds and bedding were comfortable and it had a nice shower. The location was excellent for getting to most places. Everything we wanted to see was within a 1-1.5 km walk. The apartment was very near to the public transportation (just a block behind or 2 blocks away) to a stop that would take you to the museumplein and centraal train station. The view is beautiful also. Nothing beats sitting on a bench watching the boats go by on the canal. Lots of restaurants and cafes to sit and people watch.

We liked everything. It is located on a busy street, in a busy area, and there are a couple of bars/coffee shops below. It can get noisy at night but it didn’t bother us. There are a lot of narrow and steep stairs, which we knew and expected in an old house. It wasn’t a problem for us but it may be for someone else.

The apartment was excellent! I read some reviews (after I had booked) & they were less than favourable so I was a little apprehensive... until we opened the door & saw that the apartment was wonderful with the most amazing view over up & down the Amstel. The bathroom was spotless with a really nice shower & towels/toiletries etc. The bed was huge & comfortable. But the highlight really was the view & location. It was "bustling" & we lost a few hours just happily gazing out watching. At night is was not too noisy at all we slept very well indeed. Complimentary soft drinks in the fridge & some chocolate bars was a nice touch. Would thoroughly recommend & would definitely try to stay here again when we return to Amsterdam in the future.

Nothing to complain about really... it's not really a "self-catering" apartment, so no cooking facilities (there is a fridge & a sink & glasses) but maybe could have done with a couple of plates & some cutlery. We ate out but had some stuff in the fridge for snacks etc so would have been handy for that.

Ideal location in the centre of Amsterdam, with amazing views over looking the canal. Great communication, meet and greet on arrival and a birthday banner for my daughter which was a lovely surprise. The room was lovely and clean, and had everything that we needed for a 2 night stay. Beds comfortable and air conditioning effective. TV with Netflix and Amazon prime. Coffee machine, kettle and fridge . We highly recommend this property and would come back and stay again . We usually stay in Leidseplein area but loved The location of the House of amstel .

We were very happy with our stay

The location was excellent. The view from the apartment was absolutely stunning. It made me not even want to leave at night, watching the beautiful boats and the gorgeous lights along the river. The bed and pillows were were super comfy and the bathroom was amazing.

The stairs are very steep and hard to get up when you have lots of luggage. It would have been nice to have some cutlery and plates in the kitchen area with maybe a toaster so we could have had some breakfast as the room was so stunning. Apart from that it was incredible and would definitely stay again.

The location couldn’t be better for someone visiting Amsterdam for the first time. The unit was clean, spacious, and exactly as described—really cute! The views from inside and the terrace were also fantastic I’d be happy to stay again the next time I’m in town.

This might be me being nitpicky, but the host insisted we call upon arrival to check in. There are also security cameras at the entrance and at the first set of stairs, which seems really invasive. “Housekeeping” came in midday but didn’t make the bed, which felt a bit like they wanted to see what we were up to.

Everything. The room was beautifully clean and the decor was exquisite. The bathroom was so big and spacious! I made a request as we were travelling for our honeymoon and Hana delivered! Prosecco, chocolates, flowers, rose petals and towels folded like swans in love hearts on the bed. A lovely touch. Communication via WhatsApp was excellent and I knew where to go if I had any troubles. The view is gorgeous, as are the wide opening windows to stand with a coffee and enjoy the bustling amsterdam streets. Located in a great spot: close enough to De Wallen to walk (10mins) but far away enough to not be disturbed.

Not much. At all. The stairs can be tricky after a few drinks and smokes! Could've benefitted from a touch more lighting in the room after sunset. The lighting is cosy and delicious but not too practical for getting ready to go out. Other than that, a gem of a find!

Fantastic location! Great views! Comfortable bed! Cozy & has character :) Loved the balcony & river views - towels really fresh & clean & news one were brought to us each day also!

many many stairs leading to your actual front door which i didn't know about prior , stairs are narrow not ideal at all if you have a lot of luggage or a huge suitcase - there was also a tile broken as you entered the bathroom , it was very sharp & a definite hazard although i loved the place so much i didn't have the heart to complain about it - but it was safe, could of taken your toe off.

The House of Amstel is so well positioned that we could reach almost every place worth of visiting in Amsterdam by foot. It's a lovely, cosy, exeptionally clean and neat place with all the necessities one needs. We had a key problem at one point as it broke in a door lock, but the owner and her friend reacted imediatelly, even though it was already late at night, and fixed the problem. They were so kind and always ready to assist. We were very satisfied with the place and totally recommend it to everyone.

Central location with excellent view. Tea and coffee making facilities. Nice, large modern bathroom.

Drafty ill fitting windows, which caused inconsistent temperatures and allowed noise in from the busy street outside. No issues with paying tourist tax itself, but it was collected in a rather odd fashion via a PayPal account. Lacked a bit of professionalism.

Great location, it’s in a really handy spot and made exploring Amsterdam on foot really easy. Our triple room had a nice view of the river and had plenty of space. We especially loved the bathroom, really modern and luxe. Our host Hana was really friendly and when I told her it was my birthday she put decorations up in the room when we were out :) I would definitely stay here again
