LyLo is perfectly located, it is still within the busy and active streets of Queenstown and is within 15 metres of the central queenstown ski bus stops. The kitchenette is great with plenty of space to store pantry and refrigerated items. Pods are spacious and comfortable.
Lack of towel hangars on the top pod beds in the 12-bed dorm. I found that the person staying in the bottom bunk frequently used both of the towel/clothes hangars leaving none spare for the top bunk occupant. There was also a lack of single bathrooms, only large communal bathrooms.

Fantastic location right in the heart of Queenstown, had a really comfortable stay! Pod beds were comfortable and afforded great privacy, and the storage for bags underneath is generous. The pod beds were also well-equipped with plugs, small storage space, and touch light which was very handy. At least one hook per bed as well for hanging stuff which is handy, and a few communal hooks on a first-come, first-served basis. Staff were fantastic, super helpful with things, particularly me wanting to store my luggage the next day before leaving. They've also got longer term storage for a slight fee which is helpful and comes with security peace of mind.
I did have one night where there was no hot water for the shower - bit brutal but seems to have been a once off and specific to one stall.

I arrived late, and it was easy to check in and drop my bags in a huge locker underneath my pod bed. Itās been 1 million years since I stayed in a hostel, but these pods look interesting. You get a roller shade, for privacy, your own air vent you can turn on or off, your own plug, and a comfortable mattress. Iām in my 50s, and was worried Iād be too old to mingle, but all the other young gals were very friendly and everyone slept well! I especially liked the kitchen facilities, although a little small. There was an air fryer, tea, kettle, hot water, dispensed automatically, a fridge with a shelf for free stuff, clean towels, etc.
The kitchen was a little small, and it seemed like every person who made their food, did not wipe the counter after they were done. Nor wash their own dishes. But staff came in and checked on the kitchen every hour.

The staff are outstanding at Lylo - they are very helpful and friendly towards guests, and they maintain the facilities to a very high standard. Lylo is located centrally, and there are nearby bus stops for route 1 (to/from the airport). The pods are very clean, and include a mirror, charging ports, a personal shelf/holder, air control and a light. The pods are arranged within a dorm room, and they provide privacy and separation within the shared room environment. The lockers are at floor level, and they are relatively large. Bath towels can be hired for $2 (NZD), using a credit card only. The bathrooms are well maintained. The shower cubicles are comfortably sized, and there are lots of hangers (I counted 7 robe hooks, a soap shelf, and 2 dry baskets in my shower cubicle). Also the shower cubicle is long enough such that you can hang your clothes and not get them wet! The kitchen has multiple fridges and lots of dry shelving for guest food, and the kitchen is well appointed for home cooks.
The doors to the rooms are fire doors, and so they are quite heavy and when they close they do make some noise, for neighbouring rooms. My suggestion to the site was for the door closer action to be lightened such that the doors close more gently.

I enjoyed my stay at LyLo. I liked how easy it was to check in and out, as the process can be done online. The staff were very accommodating and professional. For example, you can leave your bag there if you arrive early or store your baggage after check-out if you have a late departure. They also allow guests to use the facilities both before check-in and after check-out, which is very convenient. Staying in a pod-style tiny space was my first experience, and surprisingly, it was very comfortable. The bed was firm and provided a restful sleep, while the pod offered a good sense of privacy. Another great thing about this accommodation is the location. Itās within a short walking distance to everywhere, as itās situated in the centre of town where everything is. It is not on a hill, so you donāt need to worry about climbing up or down to reach the town centre.
The only suggestion I have is for the bathroom on Level 1. It would be more convenient if there were more than one sink for washing hands or other activities. Having only one sink often creates inconvenience when several people need to wash their hands after using the toilet, while others might be brushing their teeth or using the sink for other purposes.

Really great location, walking distance to the city centre. Staff were super lovely and helpful.
Aircon/heating is centralised by floor so depending on the setting it can get too hot/too cold. You can request to change the temp but so can other people (so you might ask to make it warmer but someone else could request to make it colder later). However, you are provided with a room heater which can help (we had a few issues with ours). Our room was also rather cramped, which meant it was difficult managing 2 large suitcase - especially since the under bed storage was inaccessible due to the beds location and the wall. If you donāt have big bags and want the privacy of your own bathroom the Queen room can work well, however if youāre travelling with larger suitcases, and want to spend more time in your actual room, I would recommend paying the extra for a family room.

The location of Lylo Queenstown was good. It is not too far away from the centre of town, but it is also close to the gondola. the roof top was a great plus to hang out, and its view to the mountain in the afternoon was sensational. The pod set up in each room was fantastic. Open when wanted or private.
No ventilation or windows in the room, so with 8 people it can become smelly. No where in the room or motel to hang wet clothes or towels effectively. Only one sink to brush teeth etc in male toilets for entire floor.

Excellent central location with easy access to the mountain shuttle buses. Friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. Pods feel private and the room feels secure with very generously-sized personal lockers. While I often prefer private rooms, I honestly loved the balance between privacy and social dorm and did not feel the need to upgrade to a private room. Great upstairs commons area with an open, social atmosphere, pool table and plenty of games. Luggage storage area has a dedicated ski, board, boot and pole rack. Well-equipped kitchens. Very well-maintained communal bathrooms and showers. Has a co-op upstairs where you can leave anything you canāt bring home with you for other guests to take and therefore can find useful things like hats, gloves and shoes if you need something in a pinch and get lucky. Power sockets in the pods equiped with usb as well as a mirror and a storage basket on the wall were a very welcome touch! Guests were quiet and respectful in the rooms, but the culture at LyLo was very social, outgoing and friendly. The staff at the LyLo are very friendly and welcoming, and are always happy to help you with what you need, and advise you on whatās on and what cool things to do in Queenstown/TÄhuna. The activities board is a great resource for activities and socialising, as is the notice and classifieds board in the lobby. Whether in New Zealand/Aotearoa for a while or a short break, itās a great place to start your journey. Honestly the best experience Iāve had in a hostel so far, and I really look forward to coming back soon!
Needs more hooks in the pod rooms to hang stuff. Kitchen is small, so can often be too crowded to use at peak times.

I had an amazing experience during my two-weeks stay! The staff was fantastic, always friendly and ready to help 24/7. The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the area. The value for money is unbeatableāeverything exceeded expectations at a great price. The beds were extremely comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep. Check-in and check-out were seamless, making the entire stay hassle-free. The place was spotless, reflecting excellent cleanliness standards. Overall, this is the best accommodation option Iāve come across. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!

As someone who's also working in hospitality industry specifically in front office, I was really satisfied during my stay with you guys. Location was perfect. It's near to all the pick up location of my booked tours and it's just 4-5 minutes walk from the bus stop coming from and going to the Airport. The moment I stepped my foot on your property, I was greeted by the most amazing staff who helped me to check in. Tho, I forgot to ask for his name. The process for check in went smoothly and they took note of my request of Early Check In and informed me about all the things that I needed to know. (eg. 24/7 reception, shared kitchen opening and closing time, etc.) I booked the queen room without a window 'cause I really prefer to have a quiet room and I was lucky enough to have a room at the corner on Level 3. The room was small but it was perfect for me and it got everything that I need during my stay. I sheets are clean and the room smells nice as well. The television worked perfectly fine and I was able to screencast. They have a small heater in the room which was fine for me and kept me warm. All in all, the most amazing part of my stay was the staffs of the hotel. They were able to answer all my queries which shows that they're knowledgeable enough for the job. Thank you for your service. I'll see you again on my next visit in Queenstown! šļøš¤
