Location was perfect for us. It is outside the busier areas and thus much quieter. There was a very noisy concert going on in the center of town and we would not have been able to sleep if we were near that. At La Payacha we had a river view and the sound of the rushing water was so peaceful and calming, we hadn’t slept that well in days. The staff were really nice and helped us figure out when to get bus tickets to Machu Picchu which they certainly didn’t have to do. Overall the place was immaculately clean despite a bit of musty smell in our room. It’s quite humid right by the river so honestly we didn’t mind and eventually didn’t notice. The bed was firm but comfortable and the shower had hot water. It was relatively quiet in the room with the sound of the river drowning out most other guests. Breakfast was fruit and house made rolls with butter and your choice of the local cheese or eggs. They could also make espresso upon request and had other small bites for sale if you wanted.

The private rooms have their own bathroom and were pretty big and with a nice view to the river side. The room looked clean an modern. The lady that works in reception is super nice and happy to help with any issue we had. The breakfast was good. Worth it for the price.

Unfortunately the windows are not completely closed and as the room is next to the river you are going to have a lot of mosquitos and insects in you room if you turn on the light in the night. We saw this kind of windows which dont close properly in other places in Peru aswell.

The hotel's location was only a short, three-minute, flat walk from to the bus stop for the ride up to Machu Picchu. There were a number of good restaurants a 30 second to 1-minute walk from the hotel. Our room faced the Urubamba River. The river provided peaceful "white noise", so we couldn't hear the trains or the commotion of the city while trying to sleep. The lady running the place was pleasant and helpful. The free breakfast was made-to-order and included coffee, orange juice, meat & eggs, and delicious bread with butter and jelly. The luggage storage was a nice touch as it allowed us to visit Machu Picchu after checkout without worrying about our luggage.

The hotel is a bit outdated. The hot water didn't work in the bathroom when we arrived, but they quicky fixed that issue and it worked fine after that.

The hotel host was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was clean and the beads were comfortable. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is a convenient and easy walk from the train station, and it is also quick and easy walk to the bus pickup location for the busses to Machu Picchu. The hotel overlooks the River, which is pretty incredible to see.

This is NOT a negative about the hotel. When we visited the market around the train station was under construction and it made it difficult to navigate out of the station and to get your bearings. However, once we got our bearings it was so easy to get to the hotel.

The personnel of the hotel is very friendly and accommodating. The view of the rooms gives directly at the river, very beautiful. The breakfast eggs were the best we ate in the whole Peru trip. They have a small shop to buy groceries and though no lobby per se, you can sit and read in the breakfast cafe.

It can be a bit noisy - it is located just off the rail (trains passing) and giving to the river on the other side. If raining, the river can be rough and noisy like a jet plane. The shower and the bathroom a bit dated but good for the price. (A piece of advice - do not stay in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu pueblo) longer than absolutely necessary. It is an ugly, overpriced place).

The hostal was walking distance from the train station. We were able to check in earlier at 8:30am instead of the regular time (at noon) for no extra cost. Ms. Yrma was very friendly and welcoming, she was ready to provide us with information or any needs we had. She made an amazing breakfast that included fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, bread, butter, marmalade, avocado, eggs. Everything fresh and locally made. Our room had a river view, spotless clean, comfortable beds and plenty of hot water.

Hotel is in perfect location. Very close to the bus stop to go up to Machi Picchu. Owner of hotel was very kind to prepare us breakfast to take away at 5am.

mosquitos. when we arrived we were recommended to not open the windows because of mosquitos. we didn't but the room and aguas calientes in general is invaded by mosquitos. we were not prepared and didn't bring a mosquito repellent. would be nice to mention it on the description when it is such a big phenomenon.

The sound of the river, lovely room. Proximity to the bus, market, and train. Breakfast to go ready and waiting for me at 5:30 am. Friendly, very helpful proprietress!

Everything was Excellent! The only one small thing was that one night I ran the shower for many minutes and the water never got warm. I ended up using a bandana at the sink to wash myself.

The location was convenient. The breakfast was great. It's a combination hotel, cafe, restaurant, minimarket. Has a view of the river from the restaurant and rear hotel rooms.

The train goes literally right by the hotel and if you are in a front room it is crazy loud. Fortunately it doesn't run very late, last train is like 9pm.

Great location, near the train station, the central plaza where you get Machu Picchu tickets and catch the bus up to the ruins. On the river, near many restaurants.

Nothing really specific about this place, just common being lower in elevation and in a more tropical climate: insects. Many mosquitos and gnats, etc. get into your room.
