The staff were excellent. Very friendly, service oriented and every request got a yes There is a beautiful sitting area full of art and antiques , and a little patio. The room is basic but fine. There is no fridge or kettle in the room, but if you ask the staff they will put your food in the fridge or get you a cup of hot water. There is also an iron and ironing board by reception. And there is an elevator so no need to carry bags up the stairs The location is great. 7 minute walk to the Jewish quarter, the wawel castle and 3 minutes to chabad. There is a 24 hour small supermarket on the corner

There were a couple of homeless/drunk people on the street outside. The last night I could hear people walking loudly in the room above me at 1.30 am. Called reception and they quieted down If you are planning to stay there for shabbos note that there is a bell ringing automatically every time you walk in/out

Hotel Alex was close to sights we wanted to see in the old town. It was great to be within easy walking distance. At first I was a bit put off by the look of the area but it was very safe. We didn’t have breakfast as I am coeliac and there would be little I could eat. We found a lovely cafe/ pastry shop nearby (Doro.The.Cook ) where all the the cakes etc. were gluten free. This was a real bonus for me! On the morning of checkout a member of staff let us put our luggage in a locked area as we had some hours to pass before heading to the airport. This was really handy and we were able to pick them up a few hours later.

Nothing really. It was basic - but I had a bed and my own bathroom! For the price I paid I certainly can’t complain.

- 24hr check in, perfect when your flight lands after midnight! - warm, friendly staff - very clean - quirky decor - perfect location for walking access to old town, restaurants and bars, shops and amenities, and tourist type attractions. - I didn't use the tram, but it was nearby for those who do need it - fresh breakfast (but remember to order the night before) - Lovely hot and powerful shower

- The bed was too hard for my liking, maybe others would like it? A mattress topper would have made it so much better for me - There was no tea/coffee station in the room. The addition of a kettle and cups would have be great for me (I'm British, I love my morning cuppa tea!) - the power outlet near the bed had a shelf beneath it, which made it impossible to use with an adaptor or for phone charger. The other sockets work fine though!

Staying at hotel Alef was a highlight in my trip to Krakow. The access to the old town by walking is totall easy in just 4 min and I would suggest everyone to book the breakfast as well. So you have the possibility to enjo your meal in the most authentic breakfast room with an special decoration.

Lack of own parking at the property as I travelled with my car.

Very close to the city center. Great customer service with kind people who speak with a customer in a respectful and friendly manner.

When I entered the bathroom for the first time and checked the toilet, I noticed it wasn’t flushed properly. This may be down to the fact the water pressure isn’t the highest, but I believe the cleaner should have tried to get rid of the “leftovers” at least few times. The other thing is one of the towels had an odd, suspicious brown mark on it. I want to believe it was just the dirt now something else :-) Luckily, I noticed that before using it. Thirdly, there was a party somewhere nearby and the loud noise didn’t stop until around midnight. Also, the buzzer at the entrance (every time you open the door lasts few seconds) is extremely annoying and is too loud. Especially at night.

Above all, I liked the art collection in every corridor, in the lobby, in the staircase, in the breakfast room. From the upper floors, you have an unusual view of the Wawel. The location is great, the street has the typical Cracow charm and you reach Stradom, Wawel, Grodzka and Kazimierz in a minute. There can't be anything more Cracovian than a house in a dark, narrow street below the castle, filled with Art Nouveau paintings.

There wasn't anything I wouldn't like.

It was a bit difficult to find the entrance as I came there late at night. However, I called the receptionist and she explained me how to get into the hotel. Her English was good and clear. The room was standard, but it had everything I needed. The hotel has an old-fashioned atmospheric interior with lots of paintings, historic items and furniture in the dining room. It is a lovely place for those who want to feel the atmosphere of the 30-40s of the3 last century.

This hotel might not be good for those, who like modern interiors. For me it was an interesting experience though.

It is a very comfortable and quirky hotel with all of the paintings. It was very clean and the front desk people were very nice and mostly helpful. Very close to the castle and walking distance to Old Town and the old Jewish area. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. It has a lift.

The Wi-Fi did not work in my room on the third floor. The front desk always acted surprised but it never got better after 6 days. I could sit downstairs and use it though.

Booked last minute for short stay in Krakow. Hotel was very quirky in design. Receptionist (on her first day in the job) was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lift to all floors. Ensuite was pleasant. Good location close to Wawel Castle and Kazimierz area.

Twin room was quite cramped. Both beds against walls. Hotel had very little signage outside, nothing illuminated. Struggled to find on street at night without using Google Maps.

Lovely old hotel in a very central location. Felt like I'd time travelled to a different century, very traditionally decorated, with lots of old paintings on the walls. Great location, just a short walk from both the Old Town and the Jewish Quarter. Great selection for breakfast. Very good value for money.
