We loved this hotel! We loved how they incorporated so many of the original features of the hotel to create a beautiful and unique atmosphere. Beds were comfy, showers hot, breakfast was yummy, location was great. The staff were so kind and accommodating. We would definitely stay again. My sister stayed in the suite and it was massive and very beautiful. Our room was so lovely too.

Check in was very late at 4pm, however they do provide luggage storage. Rooms weren’t soundproofed, I could hear people through their doors but it wasn’t busy so it was no problem.

The staff was amazing. Alice (the owner) and Carla were so sweet and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They even found my boyfriend a tray so he could bring me breakfast in bed. I believe there’s also a little private terrace for each room where you could get some fresh air.

Our room was right on the train tracks, which I enjoyed getting to watch throughout the day but if you’re sensitive to sound I’d just make sure to mention you’d like a quiet room!

This hotel is a hidden gem. Only a block from the famous wine bars an old building has been remarkably restored to produce a hotel which is really almost like a member of Small Luxury Hotels. The value for money is outstanding and we come back and back. Breakfast is excellent and the rooms are very comfortable. Arquitects should book to admire the impeccable quality of the restoration. Staff is very, very friendly and helpful.

Light sleepers might have a small problem as a train line passes just behind the hotel. However, during the night very few trains pass by and it is not like the trains are shaking people in their beds.

good example of hotel restoration. looks old outside but new inside. central location, got the room with big balcony with views - see photos. nice local breakfast and extremely helpful staff - the packed a full breakfast for us on the last day due to early departure. big breakfast room and lobby for such small hotel... good atmosphere boutique hotel. RESTAURANTS TIP : exit the hotel - turn right, walk few minutes, turn left to Marquês de Pombal and descend, some nice restaurants there and a good souvenir shop at the end. "don peppo" pizza is super cheap and great taste.

our room - although big enough - had no facilities at all. no desk, no fridge, no kettle, no closet, no shelves, only one chair and a small stand for one suitcase, so the second suitcase was on the floor... the same at the bathroom - no place for personal things. not the best option if you are old....

The staff is amazing and the hotel is clean and comfortable. You will not find a more hardworking team of people seeking to make your stay there wonderful. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and centrally located to restaurants and shopping. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Douro valley area.

No tea making facilities the room or freely available in the kitchen area. The noisy wooden floors when other guests return to the hotel late at night. Soundproofing between rooms isn’t great. I could hear everything in the room next door (when a guest returned at 2.30am. I eventually had to knock on his door and ask him to be considerate). The noise of the occasional train passing the back of the hotel

The hotel is in an old building which has been renovated carefully. They took care of every details during the renovation. It is located in the center of the small town just stone throw away from the river and railway station. As ithe rooms located in the back of the hotel are very close to the rails, it advisable to use some earplugs during night if you are a light sleeper. The breakfast is great with local products and fresh fruits. It is a real great value for money!

Beautifully renovated small hotel and in a great location. Very easy walk to the river for boat trips along the Douro and close to the station. Staff exceptional, knowledgeable and very kind and hospitable, they booked trips for us and excellent advice on restaurant reservations. Nothing too much trouble! Bed linens very high quality but spoiled slightly with the bath towels being too small but a minor point when everything else taken into account

Nicely restored preserving elements of its historic past. Has a lift which was awesome for getting luggage to the upper rooms. Room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was amazing.

The only downside was parking. Only street parking available which was hard to come by close to the hotel.

Breakfast was never really ready when it started. Took till 8am to be really ready. Bike storage wasn’t really they secure, just sitting in the lobby. Sound from the lobby music could be heard in our room ALL day and into the evening. Could be loud from other guests, like loud walking. Need a table in the room to set my drink on!!
