Fantastic hotel in a great location. We opted for the 2-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. One word, brilliant. Comfortable, clean, perfect deco and with ample space - yes, home from home. The bathroom had a walk-in shower as well as a bathtub, and kitchen had all (and more) the amenities. Parking is available adjacent to the hotel and tickets can be validated at the hotel for a 20% discount. On arrival, the lady at reception was extremely helpful and polite. She gave us a quick brief of the hotel, breakfast and parking, and nearby sites to visit. Sorry for the delay in leaving this review but definitely deserve the 5* rating.

Plenty of space in the apartment, with modern bathrooms and kitchen. The welcome pack of teas, milk and crumpets were a nice touch. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly on arrival. Parking was straightforward and very close by.

The master bedroom only had a ceiling window with a blind, which didn’t let in much light during the day (but didn’t create much black out at night either!) The room was hot and there was no way to open the window for fresh air (although a fan was provided). The bed was a standard double; we would have preferred a king size. There was a safe for valuables and bath robes/slippers provided.

The Halston is in a very convenient city centre location within a short walk of the station. The rooms are modern good-sized suites with their own living room and well-equipped kitchenette giving you the flexibility of self-catering and/or eating out with many pubs, restaurants and breakfast places close by. There is a car park directly adjacent the hotel which is an extra charge but you do get a 20% discount as a guest of the hotel. This was our second stay at the Halston and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

A nice, warm welcome from the Reception staff got my visit off to a good start, and it didn't really go downhill from there. The apartment was outstanding, beyond my expectations, very nicely fitted out and very comfortable. After a quick chat with Reception about how to master the conrols, the heating was sorted out and my stay was very comfortable. A nice touch was the complimentary refreshments, crumpets and conserves.

I can't think of anything I didn't like.

Family group in 3 apartments. All apartnents well furnished, clean and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful particularly a member of the housekeeping team who went above and beyond and cleaned seagull droppings from our car. Had breakfast in the bar one morning. Delicious and reasonably priced. Excellent location for walking into Carlisle.

One of the apartments seemed to be very warm but there were fans in the rooms. It would have been nice to have had a few more glasses, cups etc.

Stayed in apartment just down road from hotel.. Room was very comfortable...Was able to leave luggage as arrived early and staff took case up for me.Didnt use kitchen but was there if needed.. Staff were lovely.Nothing was to much trouble to them Breakfast was lovely..

Didn't realise there was so many steps up to apartment..And with having a disability I found it a struggle walking up and down all the stairs..(my fault .I forgot to say and there was no other rooms to move to).. Could of also done with a full length mirror in room as the little one was in the wrong place as it was dark in the corner where it is..

The decor in the room was beautiful and the rooms are well equipped with everything.

We arrived at 12 and requested an earlier check in if available, but we were told our rooms wouldn’t be available until after 3 as no one had checked out (check out is 11) Also when we came back at 21.45 the bar etc was all closed so there was no where to get a drink (we were told 11pm). Most hotels we’ve stayed in the bar stays open for hotel guests but closes to the public.

Almost Everything was lovely about our stay, the only hiccup we had was that our room was on the front and the music from the bars outside was very loud so upset our sleeps, until at least 2am..We came for a golf trip and wasn't expecting to be kept up most of the night, so if you're going for a quiet time away, I'd suggest requesting a back room. The hotel did move us on the second night, which was kind of them, but personally was very unconvenient due to us having to pack up and then wait for the other room to be clean. No compensation, no free drink, or even a free meal was given even for the upset, which personally would have been kind. I did suggest to the hotel that they state the noise problem for that room be put on the booking sites/page, so it doesn't happen to other guest. I'm sure we're not the only ones that have complained about it. Other than that the hotel, food and staff were very nice.

The noise is coming from a local bar at night until 2 am. Yes, I understand that noise does come from bars, but it was extremely loud, right outside our window. If I was aware of this when booking, I would have asked for an alternate room. I did wonder why there were ear plugs in the room, so the hotel is aware of the problems, and I'm almost sure I'm not the only one to complain. The room needs to be soundproofed to help minimise the sound.

One of the best pet friendly aparthotel we have ever stayed in! When we walked into the apartment our first impression was "wow" it exceeded our expectations! We booked the dog friendly apartment, a dog bed was supplied along with some doggy treats! Crumpets jam/marmalade and a large selection of teas/coffees/milk etc.. it was also exceptionally clean! We loved our 2 day break. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant and there was a good selection of cocktails! Staff were so friendly and helpful! We've been telling everyone about it and want to come back!

If i was going to be picky about something qe disliked it would be parking, Difficulty using the carpark due to limited space, had to find another which wasnt really a problem as it was only a 10 minute walk, there was a graduation event on so it was understandable.

Love the fact that it was an apartment and we could choose to eat either “at home” or out. Great location close to the station. Very friendly, helpful staff.

The noise from the street on Friday and Saturday night right outside our bedroom window. When I spotted the earplugs in one of the desk drawers I knew what we could expect… think the windows in the bedroom needs to have triple glazing!
